I hadn't expected to arrive in America just yet. It's a shame; I was enjoying Bangkok.

[He stops briefly, leaning off screen to attend to something else. Maybe just enjoy the music for a bit?

Once he's back, he goes back to chopping.]

But no matter. If I have to continue my vacation here, so be it. I won't let this hero business get in my way.

[He puts the knife down, finally looking at the screen.]

I'd appreciate a few recommendations for places to eat, if any of you have some. My main concern right now is seeing how the food here stacks up, alternate universe or not.

[The aroma of his cooking shouldn't be too hard to miss, along with the music. He hadn't really thought to ask if anyone would mind him having it playing since he doesn't really care about it.

If anyone does decide to investigate he'll be in the kitchen, working away at the counter. There's soup of some kind simmering in a saucepan, along with some steaks sizzling away next to it in a second, larger pan.]

I don't think bad food has any uses.

There's a nice Italian restaurant in Maurtia Falls. I can send you the address. It's somewhat pricey, but the dishes served were well cooked and quite fresh.

Each meal is an experience. If you can't get anything out of every one, good or bad, you're still too naive.

[It's okay if that doesn't make sense, noone ever knows what the hell this guy is talking about back home either.

My Grandmother once said this: each meal only happens once in your life, so make each one the most important.

If you reflect on that, you'll definitely understand what I meant.

I've always understood how important well-prepared meals are. There are so many of these "fast food" places these days. And they overcharge for badly cooked, processed foods they advertise as "fresh". It's a robbery.

I've never eaten at one before, since the very idea of their food disgusts me; real food deserves more respect than that.

But you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. What do you like to eat?

Me? [ Asked with an air of confusion. ] I don't have a particular favourite food or dish, if that's what you're asking.
