When someone doesn't answer their messages, it means they're not here anymore, doesn't it?

[He doesn't wait long enough for there to be an answer, and winds up just sighing.]

David Alleyne's gone, I guess.

…Alright. This just means I need to ask around instead. I need someone I can go to if I have questions on technology stuff. I'm doing pretty good on most things, but I had David if I had anything that was really stumping me, and now I don't, so! Who wants to be the lucky person to help me?

I really hope that's not the only way to find out someone's missing.
Because that's really terrible if that's how it always goes.
Can't say that I'll be too much help with the technology.
I mostly use this for texting, and a few calls on occasion.

I appreciate your attempt to text me back, so sure. Video it is. So, is that, in fact, the only way people find out someone's missing or gone home? Because that's really quite terrible if that's the case.

If you try to message someone who isn't here anymore, and it just says some kind of error message, then yeah. I mean, you could probably ask the government too, but this is the faster way.

Oh, so it's not just that they don't answer, but you also get an error message. Wow. Has anyone just... I don't know, seen someone else disappear or be sent home?

As far as I know, no. It never happens when they're with someone.

Hm. That's interesting. So people are always ported out when no one else can see it. But they indicate it here, and the government knows when it happens. Then again, they have the Porter, so I suppose it's to be expected they'd know about it.

[After a pause... ] Still, though, they don't control it themselves, right? It's basically the Porter does what he wants, correct?

I'm sorry your friend is gone. Though... did he want to go back home? Because then maybe it's not so bad. Not for him, anyway.

Mostly, but sometimes I'd call him just to talk. He didn't get out much, y'know?
