[Sabriel's sitting in the study of her lodging in Heropa. She looks better than she has in the last few weeks, though she's still unnaturally pale.]

For those of you who recently arrived- my name is Sabriel, and last month, certain items of mine were stolen by someone named Melkor, who proceeded to use them to raise the Dead in Maurtia Falls, as well as using his own abilities to set part of that city on fire. Eventually the Dead were disposed of by our fellow Imports, and I subdued Melkor and took back what he stole. [And somehow, you can hear the capital 'D' in Dead.]

I would like to thank everyone who helped defeat the Dead Melkor summoned, and protected the people of Maurtia Falls during that time as well. I owe all of you a great debt. If you have need of my skills as a Charter mage, do not hesitate to call on me. [Her language may be formal, but there's sincerity and genuine warmth in the words.]

While we're on the subject of Melkor- I'm his probation officer. I will be doing everything in my power to keep him from causing more trouble, so please tell me if he's trying to cause trouble, or if any Dead Imports start attacking the living- I'm a necromancer, but I lay the dead to rest instead of raising them- and if that's not possible, I bind them.

The Charter contains and describes all things in this world, and the bonds between them. The marks for lightning and flame are used in many battle-spells.

I'm afraid I don't completely understand, they way you speak of it makes it seem like the potential there is nearly limitless. [Oh don't tease him.]

It... seems that way sometimes. The Charter is without beginning or end. But no one knows more than a small fraction of the symbols, and even the strongest mage can only draw forth so much power before it begins to take a toll on their body.

And you have to learn these symbols? So then, you can only use the ones you know, is there anyway to learn more of them in this world?

I arrived with two rather thick spell books full of marks previously unknown to me- I've been studying them since my arrival, whenever I have the time.

Even without that, I have a considerable number of marks memorized.

[Not to mention whatever knowledge was in the Book of the Dead, sealed away in her memory until she had need of it.]

With Charter Magic? I try to keep in practice, so I wouldn't mind. The bells... are best used only when there's true need. They're meant to be used on the Dead, not the living. [Not that they have no power against the living, but Sabriel's not interested in using them as such.]

Yes- if you look back on the network, you can see Melkor waving one around while he told the entire network what he was doing.

Can you? I don't really spend that much time on the network. What a cocky sounding man. [And a bit stupid. Showing off is one thing, but he definitely opening himself up to his defeat.]

He was arrogant. Claiming to be first among gods when a human was able to defeat him... ridiculous.

But with necromancy, weren't you already against sharing it? I forget how our conversation went before, it was so long for me. [Which might sound weird but considering he ported out, it's been... months, while not being months at all!]

I was, but... I had thought Manfrea was a friend, and that the information I'd given him was too vague to be of much use.

Obviously, I was wrong.

I hope he hasn't made you regret making friends completely. That'd be so sad.
