[Well, it's been a while. The sun's setting, and Cassandra's perched herself on a roof somewhere in... Nonah, from the looks of it? Anyway, she's up somewhere she probably shouldn't be, wrapped up in an eggplant-colored hoodie and sipping at a paper cup of something from a coffee shop.]

Hi. I guess... I'm back? [This is some weird nonsense, as far as she's concerned. Her voice is still a little clipped, dry. Like she's still really not used to speaking out loud.] Two months. The time's just - gone. Like I never left. Nothing new in Blüdhaven, either.

[She frowns a little, like she's having some trouble getting her head around it. Whatever, time for another sip of that tea latte...thing she's drinking.]

I miss anything? [With an expression that basically screams wow, things went sideways huh. but seriously, what's new.]

I just saw you five minutes ago, Jane.

[ Why is she in a coffee house? Actually, why is she in a coffee house without him? They could have gotten lattes. And he didn't even think she wore tops with a hood, although that is a very nice shade of eggplant, and -

His eyes scan the other responses, and his brain scampers to catch up. ]

...but then you're not Jane. That's a startling likeness.

Hello. I'm Gansey. You must have left just as I arrived, since I'd certainly have remembered that face.

Welcome back, I suppose?

[Wow that smile is practiced as hell. Still, she laughs quietly - heh-heh - and nods in response, shifting the camera angle. It's a little closer to her face now, and while it's still uncanny, there are some differences. Small scars here and there, things like that.]

Cassandra. I'm trying to... pick up the pieces.

I look like someone? [that's easy to piece together.]

[ Behind that smile, Gansey's sharp hazel eyes are taking a careful inventory of that face. He's looking for all the little differences, all the things that distinguish her from Blue. This isn't a mistake he intends to make again. ]

My friend. I'd have said you were her twin, it's incredible.

I am sorry, though. That's not a wonderful first impression. Has the place changed much since you left?

[It's easy to tell what he's doing, and she can't say she disapproves. She often does the same thing with people in general. Seeing Blue pop up below makes this a lot clearer, though.]

Think she found me.

[She shakes her head a little, shrugging. Even if the small differences in their faces weren't enough, her voice was ]

Not much, but people are more... tense. Easy to see why. [frowning a little, thinking further] Some friends went home.

Well, she's observant.

[ She'd hardly miss her own face popping up under a different name. Christ, it's still unnerving. Gansey's face no longer shows that emotion, though.

He concentrates on her words instead. ]

They've been tense since I arrived. We must both have missed the trouble.

I'm sorry about your friends. Well, I mean to say - it's good, for them. But I'm sure that can't be easy.

I was... there for the attack. [Her speech is clipped, uncertain. Not quite an impediment, and it's not accented, but there's almost a sense she's not used to speaking out loud.]

Missed everything after. [She shrugs.] They're fine, at home. Safe.

[Safe as it gets. Still, she knows Alfred at least is going to be fine.] I'll be okay. [Cassandra smiles a little, appreciative. Gansey seems earnest enough, even if something still seems practiced about all of it. Not meant to deceive, more meant to ensure he comes across properly.]

Oh. You were caught in it?

[ That's a terrible thought. Everything Gansey knows about the attack comes from what he's heard victims saying. It's harrowing, to say the least. ]

They did arrest him, so far as I know. Though I understand the courts here are not as strict as we might be used to.

Not that bad. I'm immune, mostly, so--

[Not that she wasn't in the thick of it. She just shrugs, even if she grimaces a little as he goes on.]

Anyway. I heard. He's out soon, right? [what's even the point if he'll be released so fast, god.]

I think so.

[ Which is a terrible thought. Murder seems to mean so little here. ]

I don't know the reasoning behind that. It makes it feel as though he's gotten away with it, and I feel that my United States would be at pains to prevent that. I don't know about yours.

Mine too. He's just going to try again. [The keyword being try. She nods quickly, in agreement with. Pretty much all of that.]

I would like to think the authorities would prevent that, now that they know what he's capable of.

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right. I'd very much like you not to be.

There's a... version of him. Where I'm from. [she shrugs one shoulder a little.]

If they won't do anything... It's up to the rest of us.

[ Carefully. ]

Well, I'm not sure that we can, really. We can't act outside of the justice system. We'd be criminals ourselves, then.
