[ When the feed comes to life, Hemali is seated on a couch, her legs drawn up and shoulders and neck hunched over. On the coffee table is a small bottle of nail polish, which she goes about applying with precision over her toe nails.

She doesn't glance at the camera right away, letting the silence linger until she's finished painting the nail the way she wants. Then she finally looks up and smiles, but it isn't one offered up in apology for making anyone wait, not that she believes she has anything to apologize for. ]

Isn't this all interesting? I've never seen a device like this or heard of one that could shuffle people from across the universe.

[ Her eyes light up at the thought, masking any concerns she has about the fact there's something with far greater power than she might ever have. ]

Nor have I heard about machines that could grant people power. What I find most strange having looked over this network, is that so many people would give up these powers if it meant leaving this place? I had always thought people preferred being special and having that kind of security. Does your power not provide that?

[ A contemplative pause. ]

Maybe I am a little excited to travel for once, personally.

[ Not completely, but who needs to know behind a calm affect is a woman who feels threatened by the Porter? She goes back to painting her nails, interested in hearing what these other imPorts have to say in response. ]

[ When Claire appears on the network, she looks much the same as she did a month or so ago, if not a bit more relaxed as she smiles. And she definitely has the hang of the device by now. With respect to her roommates in residence 9 of the Falls housing, she's commandeered a table in their living room, currently surrounded by (in organized piles) books, bottles, vials, dried herbs, different flowers, and mortar and pestles.]

Good afternoon, everyone. I have a general question for all of you. We're from different times and places, and I wondered what your favorite 'home remedies' are. For example, boiling ginger and drinking the tea for nausea, or gargling with garlic water for a sore throat. Anything you would do before taking some sort of medication because you feel you've seen the proven results of it working.

You could even have practical uses for things in medical emergencies. Like using cobwebs as a bandage in a pinch.

Let me hear it, everyone. The things you know work that have been passed down over time. With such a variety of us from different places, we must all know different things that could be useful.

Or, if you'd like, please feel free to ask any questions you might have.

( Brace yourselves, imports - possibly literally. Whatever volume the device was on somehow seems too loud with the energetic blast of an aggressively catchy opening credits tune and is soon accompanied by a Dramatic Voiceover. You know the type of voice - mysteriously gravelly and somehow sounding just too intense. )

( Ah, yes, a shot of a Manly Form against the skyline, silhouetted by the sunlight, and with a shotgun against his shoulder. )

( Fade to black, but only for a moment.
Behold, gentle viewers, the face of purest suffering. At the very least it is a look of intense suffering, because Rosita has taken several weeks of being intensely aggravated by producers and reminding herself that she needs the money to help Carl and Daryl and Andrea and Enid and keep them all safe to try, and allowed herself to be trained into looking slightly more cooperative. )

Hi. I’m ImPort Rosita Espinosa, and I’m here to bring romance back from the dead. ZomBae will be hitting your screens in just a few weeks, a fresh new show combining the trials of finding love with surviving the apocalypse.

( Okay, no. She still sounds like she hates this, and she still does, but it’s been turned into a marketing #aesthetic. Have you ever heard a tone more flat? Isn’t it great how aloof she is? )

( Yeah, sure. But wait! Who’s this handsome devil? There is a new person on screen, and that person would be one Gabriel Grey. He looks as if he is enjoying this about as much as Rosita is when he speaks. )

My name is Gabriel, [ he may be reading off some cue cards, focus intent an inch left of the camera, maintaining his own deadpan #aesthetic ], I'm 30, and I come from New York City. I would call myself resourceful and hardworking, which would work to my advantage in the wake of some kind of world-ending disaster like the zombie apocalypse and also [ he is definitely reading off cue cards ] love.

( Back to Rosita, and she is resting an axe against her shoulder as she talks, rubbing her forehead for a brief moment before she forces herself to go on. Flat as Hell: ) But we need your help to find Gabriel his perfect partner in survival, and in life.

( And now, a montage:
Gabriel and Rosita fight zombies. Gabriel and Rosita scan the terrain with binoculars. Gabriel and Rosita fortify a room and Prepare For Battle. Gabriel and Rosita ride some horses on a beach only for the camera to pan back and show some extras dressed as zombies shambling after them, and then!!! The final shot: Gabriel picks up a SINGLE PERFECT ROSE (sigh) from amidst the mud and carnage… and stares into the sunset. It’s very wistful. (It’s not very wistful at all.)

( All in all, it’s as terrible as it sounds. )

( Now, enough of that montage; back to the present, and their artistically messy hair. Rosita looks to Gabriel, and her expression very much is along the lines of please, let this be the end, let me die, before her jaw flexes and she forces out the last bit with a smile. )

If you think you have what it takes to be a Zombae, or you know someone who does, then let us know by leaving a comment.

( ooc: Green is Rosita, red is Gabriel, and comments will be coming from both of them. )

[The feed comes on to show Peggy standing in the middle of a room with floor mats, the kind that a gym would use to make sure that people didn’t hit the ground. Or in this case the following:]

Hello. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Peggy Carter. If anyone is interested in self defence lessons, I still have a few places available in my class. Feel free to contact me at a later time or reply to me here.

Thank you.

[There was another reason for this network address, but Peggy had to think on what to say and how to say it. Her tone becomes softer.]

I have been in this place for about a year now and if my experience has taught me anything, it’s to expect the unexpected and be prepared for the worst. That being said, it isn’t all terrible. I enjoy the work I do and I’ve made friends; I am grateful for those things. [A pause.] However, I do miss my home. I would be lying if I said otherwise. Perhaps it sounds like a cliche, but it is the truth.

I am certain I’m not the only person who feels this way. Even with that thought in mind, I am not trying to make anyone feel homesick. I just wanted to let them know I understand where they’re coming from and to remind them that there are good people here. Don’t forget that.

[She is silent for a moment or two then continues.]

Now. I believe I shall end it there before I blather on too much.

[Sometimes, Peggy wasn’t great at talking about how she felt. She was a private person so her last sentence felt like a good place to leave it at.]

[ The Doctor gives the camera a grin and a little nod. ]

Hello network! Just have a quick question here, time to take a roll call! Who's got magical creepy healing powers?

[ this is "being subtle." Sorry Clara. There's a big grin before, ]

Oh! Also, how do you own a shop? Apparently I got promoted. I've worked in a shop before but I don't think I've ever owned one.

[ Oh you are all in for such a lovely treat on this fine afternoon! Dorian has decided to make his presence officially known in a fashion befitting of... well, something. It's taken him a while to adjust to using such a device, and he still doesn't know much about it, but he does know how to fake knowing everything. And that is the key to survival.

Or something like it.

He grins widely in greeting before tipping his head to the side and waving his hand in a mockery of a bow. ]

Hello out there. I've been told this will reach a wide variety of people and assured I'm not simply speaking to myself. Not that it's a terrible thing, of course, speaking to oneself! Especially when you have a voice as delightful as mine.

[ Ego, yes. He has one full and intact. ]

Now, then! For those who've not had the pleasure, my name is Dorian Pavus and I've found that over the years one can learn an interesting deal from someone new by simply playing a game. And who doesn't enjoy a little bit of entertainment? One of my absolutely favorites is word association. I'm sure there's plenty of you who are smart enough to know or assume what I mean, but for the others: I give a word and you tell me the first thing that comes to mind, then I—in turn—do the same and so on and so forth. We keep going until whenever it reaches a natural end or a question derails the game itself.

Simple, yes? [ He smiles again as if he's just taught a child a new trick. ] I'll start you all off with an easy one: Magic.

[Ana has been mostly avoiding the network since her loss of the ambassadorial elections, partly out of embarrassment and partly out of relief. She wasn't sure she wanted to be in charge of anything, really. Still, dwelling on the election had made her think of home, her real position, with her people...and her family. Which was why this evening network post happened.]

[There might have been a glass or two of wine involved, too, if she was being honest.]

Hi. [She started, then hesitated, collecting her thoughts.]

I know that most all of us have left loved ones behind when we brought here. Friends, families...lovers. But...

[Another beat and a small breath.]

Is anyone else married? It's so strange. I've Longer than I'd like to admit with Vein. Good times and awful times but always...there.

I've been here nearly a year, now. A year without him or my daughter and...

[Where was she going with this? Another pause.]

Mm. I suppose I just need a distraction.

Tell me about your families. If anyone would like to, at least. Here or...there.

[This video opens with a woman in a bubble bath; the bubbles stop just a couple of inches under her collarbones, and her hair is pulled back in a tight bun. Sara has the device precariously balanced on the edge of the tub and leaning against the wall.]

My name is Sara Lance, hello, hi, greetings, etcetera. Among the ranks of the new here, I guess. Clearly, I'm already taking advantage of some downtime in my new place of residence.

[And trying to not think about recent painful losses back home.]

So fun story: Back in my world, I don't have any powers that would be called superhuman per say. But according to that file thing I have some now? Anyway, I have a more serious question about that: Are control issues a, well, issue with those ones we get here? Because uh. If so, I'd rather get that adjusted sooner rather than later. Any and all advice welcome and appreciated.

[She's absolutely not considering the weird bloodlust side effect from the Lazarus Pit back home as a 'superhuman' power, despite its weird magical/mystical origins or whatever the hell. As for her powers here, she's not saying what they are yet. Most of them seem not really dangerous on the surface, exactly, but she's not dumb enough to think that they couldn't be dangerous in some circumstance. Something can always go wrong. Something can always control her rather than she it.]

Or, if you don't have any advice on that topic, you Maurtia Falls people especially can give me advice on the best places to get coffee here.

Do all names have meaning?

I thought they were only sounds. Things you knew to answer to. I was wrong.

What meanings are there? To... anyone who reads this?

[He really could have phrased it better, but "what does your name mean" sounds too informal for his liking, so there you go.]

[ Illya intends to introduce himself properly. That is what you do in a hostile land, isn't it? Not quite name, rank, serial number, but close enough. He's been fiddling with the video functions of his communication device, after wandering around the environs of his new home just to get a quick impression of things. And then he started reading the welcome brochure in full.

He's holding it in one hand now, although the paper looks a little crumpled, like it's been balled up and thrown once or twice. Or five times, but whose counting. Illya himself is composed, more or less; a fair-haired gentleman in his thirties, dressed in a dark turtleneck and jacket, his mouth twisted into a faint frown. Blonde, blue-eyed, and handsome, he's physically close to the epitome of Aryan perfection. The punchline of that particular assumption drops when Illya opens his mouth, though. Because: ]

Why tattoos? Surely there is some other way of marking newcomers -- imPorts as it says here -- to keep track of who arrives and departs. Sufficiently advanced technology, and it comes down to tattoos. Words instead of -- I don't ...

[ That's right. This particular imPort is Russian, judging by the thick accent lacing each word. He isn't bothering to hide it, either, speaking in a controlled, somewhat clipped tone. While his overall demeanor is calm but guarded, those accustomed to closely reading others might guess he's more disturbed by the topic than he lets on. Illya takes a breath, glancing down at the paper and then back up. ]

Where I am from, there was a terrible war fought because groups of people were gathered in specific places and marked with similar tattoos before being slaughtered. [ He shrugs casually, as if he is aware (or assumes) personal biases won't make much difference in this world. As if what Hilter did doesn't still piss him off. It has only been twenty years in his world, though, and of what he has read about the rift between America and Russia, it is this detail that stands out. Aside from 'Russians R Bad'. ] But perhaps I am overly sensitive to such things. Perhaps it is not a problem here.

My name is Illya Kuryakin. I am from Moscow. [ Yes, that Moscow. ] Does anyone else come from outside the United States? It seems a great many people are from America, or places influenced by it. Or, if you are American, how does your world differ from this one?

[ Look, aside from the secret agent skills, he dabbles in other areas, including science and maybe a little psychology. (Researching personal weaknesses ftw.) Right now, throwing tantrums and breaking things isn't going to get him any answers on what's going on. So he might as well start collecting information by asking those who've been in his position. Especially if the government actually wants him to register. The more you know, right? ]
