[ The communicator is already properly situated when the video starts, a young woman framed from biceps up, silvery aviators pushed back onto the top of her head holding dark bangs out of her face. She lifts a hand and gives a wave, at ease with this technology, at least. ]

Hi, [ she begins, with a smile that's on the friendly side of polite. ] My name is Kate, I just got here in the last...batch or whatever, and I'm looking for a couple of my friends. If any of you guys are watching this, call me! For the rest of you, I put together a quick list that's attached to this message. I know it's probably annoying all of us showing up looking for people but if you have a minute to take a look, I'd really appreciate it.

They're-- [ here her smile briefly warms, and widens lopsidedly, ] --sort of distinctive? Or they usually are, anyway. I guess with the whole superhero craze here, maybe you have more than one guy running around in space pajamas, who knows!

Anyway, if you can point me to anybody on the list, I'll owe you one. Which! [ she raises a finger here and grins, excitement creeping into her voice ] I can repay in pancakes, because apparently I can do this now: [ this being the sudden appearance of a heaping stack of steaming, golden-brown pancakes, which materialize on the table in front of her, the plate they came on rattling as it lands. She frames them with her hands, Vanna White-style. ] Cool, right? I can do blueberry, too.

Hi, I'm Steve. Pretty new around here, and I got a question or two for you folks.

[ The person on the screen is male, blond and blue-eyed, leaning against a tree in what look like downown De Chima. He's wearing a bomber jacket and what can only be described as a 'grandpa plaid' shirt. No, really, it looks like it barely escaped the least fashionable part of the '50s with its life. (Mostly because Nat and Pepper aren't here to rescue him from bad shopping choices.) ]

Does anyone know if there are any, ah, veteran groups in the area? Specifically here in the city would be nice, but I'm willing to expand out to DC or one of the other imPort centers. [ He reaches up with the hand not holding the video feed steady and rubs at the back of his neck. Asking about this is kind of embarrassing, but 1. he'd really like this information and 2. he's spent the past few years as an example, so why stop now. ] A friend of mine back home works -- worked at one, and I'd like to volunteer.

[ And also maybe talk to someone. Actually talk about war, being defrosted, and other difficult topics. Or at least keep the possibility open. Because waking up in a new century is one level of what-the-hell. Being brought to a completely new world is stretching his patience just a little. ]

So if anyone knows of one, or at least someone more official to ask, I'd be grateful. As for my other question, is baseball popular here? I kind of miss going to games and cheering on my home team. Any information in that direction would be helpful, too. Thanks.

[ He offers a little, shy smile and turns the feed off. ]

[The feed opens to Betty and Kel in Very Professional button down blouses and office slacks. Kel looking stiffer than normal, which is a feat. There’s a moment of silence, and right before it actually gets awkward, Kel clears her throat and speaks first:]

Hello, some of you might recognize me. I’m Lady Knight Keladry of Mindelan, and today I’m speaking as a representative of the Ambassador’s office in De Chima about something we’ve come up with to...-to help the community-[Said as if reading off an internal script]-especially the most vulnerable of us.

[She glances at Betty and the camera moves a bit to focus on the other woman. Betty, considerably more at home in business formal, smiles slightly at the camera.]

Yes, hello, uh, network. My name is Dr. Elizabeth Ross and I've spoken with a number of you about this project in the past. With the Lady Keladry's enthusiasm and support, and the blessing of our elected Ambassadors, it's finally underway.

We would like to formally announce the YimCA - or Young imPorts Child Advocacy.

[She takes a moment to look somewhat embarrassed. Culturally-speaking, this is probably her fault.]

As you know, the Porters sometimes bring in very young imPorts, and while, as a whole, they tend to be exceedingly resourceful and capable children with a wealth of world-experience. You know the kinds of worlds some of us are from--the kids are the same. [Smile twisting a little wry, like she's remembering]. They tend to be tough, but their age still puts them at a disadvantage.

So far, we've been doing pretty well as a community. Our young people tend to find their way to one or more... guardian… figures who'll watch out for them. We're not trying to replace that kind of networking system, but to reinforce it. Sometimes people… sometimes people port out without warning. Or are incapacitated for other reasons. This would be a backup, for both sides of the equation.

[Kel nods and joins back in, leaning forward as she does so.]

Our goal is to provide our younger imPorts with resources they might not know exist, and to make sure they have people to fall back on, if their housemates are ported out again...or they’re assigned someone who they may not feel right living around. [YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE]

To apply to act as a caseworker, we'll need you to be Registered. I’m sorry, but accepting government funding means we need to follow this rule. [Look of embarrassment] You need to have no criminal record and preferably have lived here at least a month.

[Betty's been watching Kel as she speaks, at first with an expression of polite attentiveness, but growing increasingly bemused as the other woman’s shirt strains hard at the seams]

And if you're a younger imPort yourself, you're always welcome to contact us at this number [which appears on the screen]. We’re going to be contacted about new imPorts, but any one of you who already lives here is free to choose if you need our help.

[Kel looks back at Betty and nods, then to the camera:]

Thank you for your time, we hope to hear from you.

[As Kel reaches out to turn off the camera, there is a distinct RIPPING sound from her shoulder]

Sarden fuckin-!

[ It's so, so easy to put on a smile for his friends, and for social situations. He'd been doing it for well over a year. Yet as easy as it was to smile, with every day he did it, it was harder and harder to reach out and try to talk about just what he'd been dealing with.

But that's why they invented anonymous posting, right? ]

Does anyone have any tips for what to do if you want to stop feeling emotions?

Like, if I'm riddled with guilt for things I could never, ever hope to repent for, because they happened back home, is there a way we could surgically remove that guilt? You know, like an emotional tumor?

There's gotta be like a magic thing that can do that.

[The video opens to an office. People who have been affiliated with Xavier's School for ImPorts in some capacity or another might recognize it as the Headmaster's office, previously belonging to Robert Callaghan. There's, uh, a mix of organized stacks of paperwork and haphazardly strewn piles. Guess which ones Kotetsu had anything to do with. A copy machine is insistently beeping about its paper jam and he smacks it a couple times in frustration before he just gives up and unplugs it. He gives the network a slightly flustered wave.]

Uh, hi. This is Kotetsu Kaburagi. I'm the powers tutor at the Xavier's School for ImPorts. ...Which, uh, isn't just for imPorts anymore and...[he makes an awkward noise in his throat] Xavier asked to have his name taken off, since he's not affiliated and all, so, uh, if anyone has suggestions for a new one, that'd be great....

[He rubs at his neck, coughs.]

So, a-anyway, that stuff aside. Callaghan Ported out a few months ago, so we don't have a Headmaster anymore. And I'm, not really--[vague gesturing to the general state of the office]

Well, I could use some help. Like, official help. Just contact me here or in private if you're interested?

[Qualifications: just don't be a criminal. Please.]

Also, the people we had working security have Ported out or moved onto other work by now, so I'm looking for more people for that, too.

--Oh, yeah, if anyone wants to enroll at the school, lemme know! It's a regular high school for the most part, but it's a great place to practice your powers in a safe place, if that's something you're interested in.

Thanks!

[The screen of their communicators flickers to life with a fluorescent glow. Initially, there's only a hint of someone there-- thick red fabric, chain mail, a hammer.]

I had prayed to come to good tidings. Greet friends, and assuage fears. To bolster thy strength with mine own.

Instead, I come here haunted by past misgivings I thought requited, by a name all too familiar to me. If you know him as well, I would like to speak to him.

[It doesn't sound like a request. The image swings up high to a broad faced man with long blonde hair. A winged helmet. His eyebrows are drawn down across a brow rigid as though it were carved from stone.]

To my friend.

They brand us like cattle. Expect us to play house. Assign crapass jobs.

And of all the places to wage the Cold War 2.0, they pick fucking Florida. [ she scoffs, as if that's somehow the worst offense of all. ] How do we leave this shithole?

And where can I get a drink around here? The cheaper, the better.

[Greetings, MoM. Fresh meat here. Here is one (1) Terry McGinnis, dressed in his usual black t-shirt and brown jacket with the large grey stripes on the arms. He seems... panicked.]

Look, I have lots of questions and things to say about being kidnapped and brought to some kind of parallel universe or something, and I'll get to all of them in a moment, but more important right now--

[Terry quickly pans the camera to the other side of the room, where a large, black Great Dane has backed himself into a corner...on the ceiling. The dog seems uncertain about his unusual situation, but isn't distressed.]

How do I get my boss' dog off the ceiling?!

[ This was not the route Charles wanted to take with this. But his attempt to handle it privately and internally had been met with the same level of dismissal as the conversation he and this version of Tony Stark had back in April.

Which was to say, complete dismissal.

After speaking with Peter, Charles had spent a few hours on the top of the roof considering his next move. Tony was … Tony had been his friend. One of the first he’d made upon coming to this new world, second only behind Erik and at times a support for him when Erik had been … Erik.

He didn’t want to have to do what his gut was telling him needed to be done, but if Charles had learned anything from tangling with En Sabah Nur; if he’d learned nothing else from Raven, Hank and Erik … he’d learned that he couldn’t just bury his head in the sand and hope for the best. Hope was important, hope was vital but it could be just as destructive when not balanced with the resolve to do what needed to be done, when innocent lives were on the line.

Though he had now been awake for almost two days straight, a fact that might be noticeable to anyone who knew him well, the professor was sharply dressed (three piece suit and all) and looked resolute from behind his desk. He had been busy, from well before dawn and up to this point.

He had shifted pieces all across the chessboard and while he did not delude himself in to believing that Tony was even in check, Charles knew the next moves would require aid from the imPort community as a whole. ]

Good morning.

It is with great regret and sincere apology, we must announce to the world that an internal investigation has revealed that the StarkTech “4” application is an abomination and an expression of the weakness and failure of its creator; Mr. Anthony Edward Stark.

[ Peter Parker is standing behind Charles and to the right, leaning slightly on the desk to keep himself in frame. Where Charles is dressed to the nines, Peter looks like he’s come straight from the lab--rolled-up sleeves, goggle hair and all. He sways forward as though he’s about to cut in, then just as visibly bites it back before he waves Charles to continue. ]

Non IC cut in which it comes to light that Tony Stark is an ass. An even bigger ass than usual )

[Bianca is looking just a bit stained- nothing too bad, just tired, and she's recording this in what looks to be a large classroom, a variety of people behind her listening to an instructor give direction on how to perform CPR.

Several CPR dummies are visible, and there's one on the table next to Bianca.]

Hi, everyone. I was hoping to do this after I went through all the certification processes here, but with everything happening now is as good a time as any.

I don't think there aren't very many of us here who have medical training, or at least the kind that's up to date and useful as an emergency responder. Paramedic work isn't the same kind of thing I'm used to doing in the ER, for example.

[She's been keeping busy. The training for paramedic and the job she was assigned to is keeping her busy.]

I ended up in a discussion last month with the director of emergency services at the main hospital here in Heropa because of this and it went from there.

While they can't grant certification that hasn't been earned, they can waive the fees for everything from basic first aid and CPR classes to the paramedic course.

With everything that's going on- especially right now- if anyone can spare the time, you should consider doing at least the basic courses.

It can make a big difference at the end of the day.

[Along with the video, there's also a bunch of links to various organizations and schools that provide all of those classes in the imPort cities,  as well as what each state has for their basic  requirements. She did the research!]

[Superman looks honestly just....

Tired. He reaches to rub the bridge of his nose before he speaks, wondering how to even put it into words. Oh, he knows what he wants to say, knows what he wants to do. But it would be unfair to out someone without giving them a chance to work things out in this place, to become a better person.

Except, last time he tried that it ended up with him kidnapped in Crane’s basement.]

If someone from your world appeared here, someone who you knew was capable of really awful things… would you warn people?

Or would you give them a chance to be different in this place?

[The feed comes on to show Peggy standing in the middle of a room with floor mats, the kind that a gym would use to make sure that people didn’t hit the ground. Or in this case the following:]

Hello. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Peggy Carter. If anyone is interested in self defence lessons, I still have a few places available in my class. Feel free to contact me at a later time or reply to me here.

Thank you.

[There was another reason for this network address, but Peggy had to think on what to say and how to say it. Her tone becomes softer.]

I have been in this place for about a year now and if my experience has taught me anything, it’s to expect the unexpected and be prepared for the worst. That being said, it isn’t all terrible. I enjoy the work I do and I’ve made friends; I am grateful for those things. [A pause.] However, I do miss my home. I would be lying if I said otherwise. Perhaps it sounds like a cliche, but it is the truth.

I am certain I’m not the only person who feels this way. Even with that thought in mind, I am not trying to make anyone feel homesick. I just wanted to let them know I understand where they’re coming from and to remind them that there are good people here. Don’t forget that.

[She is silent for a moment or two then continues.]

Now. I believe I shall end it there before I blather on too much.

[Sometimes, Peggy wasn’t great at talking about how she felt. She was a private person so her last sentence felt like a good place to leave it at.]

[It's quiet for a moment as the person making the request isn't completely sure how to say what he wants; he's used to staying to the shadows and working from there, so reaching out so publicly goes against most of his training. Still, he has questions, and it's not like his enemies from home can find him here. ...Probably. So he concentrates, stilling himself and throwing a casual tone into his voice that he's not actually feeling considering he just wound up on a world he's never heard of. His day had already been going weird, but this is the icing on the cake of crazy.]

So I'm looking for some people, and I was wondering if any of them are here or if anyone's seen them. Steve, Sam, uh- Scott. And Wanda. We were kind of all together back home and if I'm here, maybe they are, too, so if they are I want to track them down again. See if we can figure out what's going on, that kind of thing. If you know them, can you tell them I'm looking for them?

[The choice to leave out their last names is deliberate, but except for Scott they are his friends, some of the people closest to him in his life. And a group like that, first names are really all that's important, other details can wait.]

[But whoops, he forgot something. And this time he will use a surname.]

Oh yeah - I'm Clint, Clint Barton. Thanks, and see-

[He's interrupted in signing off by a bark off to the side. There's another brief pause, and then Clint speaks up again with a bit more confusion in his voice.]

Did anyone in, uh, Heropa lose a dog? I've had this guy following me around for at least half an hour now, looks like some kind of chocolate lab mix and he seems like he's been trained but he isn't wearing a collar. Do you think I have hamburgers or something?
