[ The video begins with a man dressed in a fancy black and gold trimmed tunic, a mockingbird pin adorning his collar and a Narnia hunting pin in bird form adorning his sleeve. ]

Greetings to my fellow imPorts.

[ Petyr Baelish inclines his head in a completely formally informal greeting. It's strange to him, after all, to address people at large through something as tiny as this communicator. And he does seem a bit awkward using the device. ]

My name is Petyr Baelish -- once Lord now turned imPort. As you can probably tell, I am not from a world that is anything like the one we currently reside within. I have been here for approximately two months by your calendar, and have used that time to learn the land, its systems, the customs, the technology -- all the things that may have made for irritating or repetitive questions had I chosen to address the network immediately.

So given this passage of time, I feel I can come to you with better questions. Or rather, I am curious about your opinions on matters I do not see so often discussed. People often ask for the factual information, but rarely the opinions of others. So allow me this moment to pick your minds in what I hope will be a fine discussion. What are your thoughts on this war we have found ourselves in? Do you think it pointless? Do you wish it were over? How would you end it, if you could?

[ A beat. ]

I also find myself curious about how you perceive our ambassadors? This is the only position offered to imPorts currently that puts them in close contact with this country's government. Do you feel as though they are doing all they can to make a difference? What positive things can you attribute to them? And subsequently, are there things you believe they can improve? Perhaps most importantly of all, do you believe we have the right men for the task at hand?

I believe all of these topics are fair to discuss, given the nature of this world's democracy. We would not run the risk of any unwarranted beheadings for saying something someone dislikes. [ He flashes the briefest of smiles. He's joking. Totally. Such things are so archaic and can totally be laughed about, right? ] But I also believe discussion to be the key toward improvement, toward seeing change. Something as simple as one single thought or idea can be planted and grow exponentially. Like seed to a field of crops or perhaps ash to a wildfire.

Should there be any questions you wish to ask of me as well, please by all means, I am open to discussion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions.

One would think that someone with nearly a thousand years of experience throughout a galaxy would find it easy to acquire employment.

One would be incorrect in that assumption though. It has been a very long time since I have had to seek a new path in life. In fact it was not something I ever saw as possible or likely. Yet, here I am and if I wish to acclimate further to this world I must find something. If not only to ward off the restlessness this place can bring.

My skills center mainly around combat, meditation, and my biotics. Beyond that though I have a considerable amount of experience with the galaxy at large, at least in the universe I am from. I was told if references are required Commander Shepard would be willing to provide such.

So I ask if there are any Imports that know of places hiring or might be interested in making use of my skill set, please inform me. You have my thanks.

[ On the screen is a magnificent tiger with golden eyes, regarding the camera with quite a bit of what looks to be amusement, if you're prone to anthropomorphizing animals. After a moment, that tiger speaks - and speaks with a very human voice, a light and girlish voice with a South London accent. And who else speaks like that? This is, of course, one Kitty Jones, living up to her name. ]

Hullo, all. Happy - slightly belated - Earth Day. I hadn't known about that holiday last year, so I didn't do a thing for it, but it's really a lovely thing, isn't it? So, a day, late, I'm doing a little charity drive, and I need all of you to participate. Proceeds going to the protection of the leaf-scaled sea snake, because no one ever bloody donates money to help species that aren't cute.

[ The leaf-scaled sea snake is also quite venomous. Y'know. Whatever. ]

So what this consists of is this. I want you to volunteer here, in this post, to answer questions from fans on rumblr. Give me a list of topics you're not willing to talk about, as well as how many questions you're willing to answer. Then your rumblr fans - or enemies, I suppose, maybe some of them will want to trap you in a lie or something - will bid on the opportunity to ask you questions. Whichever fan puts in the highest bid gets the right to ask the first question, then the second-highest bid gets second question, all down until you don't want to answer any more stupid questions. And then all the proceeds go to the sea snakes.

So who's in? Talk about yourself, help the environment. What's not to like?

[ That's all said very, very cheerfully. Then, in a flippant post-script, she adds: ]

Oh, yeah, I'm not dead, by the way.

[ Which is so nice! so kind! such a good way to announce that! a month and a half after she already came back from the dead! nice. ]

[ ooc: this post is just like what it says! You can comment here to have your character get asked dumb questions by rumblr fans. Please tell me the questions you want asked in notes in your comments!! Or I will be making up terrible questions. Fair warning.

edited to add: also if your character would bid to ask other characters shitty questions, feel free to threadjump their thread ]

[Hope everyone isn't entirely sick of all the kids around. Because here is another one, sitting on his bed and trying to make sure he knows how to use this thing. Mikleo said it was important, useful if they ever might get separated, after all. He looks somewhere around maybe six years old or so? But the earrings are still a dead give-away if anyone has previously seen Sorey around, of course.]

So it's....there! I got it! Mikleo said these were important. And can let us talk to everyone here. So I have a question!

[......Wait for it.]

Tell me about your homes! Your stories! You guys probably still have ruins and history books right? Or heroes like the Shepherds back home at Glenwood! It's kind of amazing here. There are so many other humans! And it seems like Mikleo's the only seraph. It's weird. Like I was the only human in Elysia.

[Evidently, everyone has tried not to.....'spoil' him that he becomes one of those Shepherds in about ten years or so.]

Does anyone know any ruins here? I haven't found any yet. The park and everything else is neat but it's still the most fun to go exploring ruins. And why is April a fool? I don't get it.....

[But that's when he's called downstairs for a snack and just. Abandons the phone on the bed. Oops. Enjoy that view of the ceiling after he runs off. Hopefully it has a timer to turn itself off after a bit.]

Yet another stage lacking in beauty, having to import for what should be a simple production. But I suppose I must make do, not that I have much choice.

[The voice is clearly augmented, though it doesn't seem by much there's some kind of unusual flair to it. Some kind of mask perhaps. He pauses a moment and there's the sound of shuffling papers before he speaks up again.]

Proposal planning is certainly an interesting choice, though not exactly what I was expecting... And while it is quite the setup they have here, what is the purpose of this device? It cannot simply be for "keeping in touch". How is this device supposed to make this whole ordeal easier?

[Someone does not have smartphones back home.]

This isn't anything like the hextech devices I've seen before.

Most of you have probably heard from news reports and the kidnapped imPorts that they are being held on a space shuttle.

[He snorts in a very inelegant manner.]

Bullshit.

It's a diversion; a common and long-used war tactic that I am very familiar with.

I believe it to be a trap to draw imPorts away from the US so that the Russians stand a better chance of attack. At the very least, it is an attempt to pull resources from where they are most needed.

[He shifts a few pieces of paper off-screen and continues.]

From my understanding of the current level of technology on this world, such a thing would take an enormous amount of resources. At least fifty people have been taken; they will, of course, need several guards as well. That requires a hell of a lot of food, water, and oxygen over several days. The Russians can't have their confiscated weapons dying on them, after all. [So, so dry.] I find it difficult to believe that a shuttle of the required size would escape attention for too long, or that the Russians would be willing to spend that much money when they can hold hostages elsewhere.

Where everyone is actually being held, or how they were taken in the first place, we unfortunately don't have enough information for yet.

[He's purposely leaving it open for others to add anything else they know.]

[Major-General Armstrong is standing in her small, Spartan office, her back to the camera. As always, she's in her blue Amestris army uniform, though this time, she's also wearing a long, dark coat lined with fur at the collar. She very deliberately reaches up to grab a long, ornately decorated saber from where it hangs on the wall.] So it's come to this.

How many of you know war, I wonder? Not the violence of a brawl, or play-acting at being heroes, but war. I know it far too well. Back where I come from, I command a fortress at the border my nation shares with its greatest enemy. Amestris and Drachma have been at varying states of war for decades.

[She turns to the camera, resting the tip of her saber on the floor.] What they do not tell you is that war is boring. If you were under my command, every day you'd sweep the battlements for icicles. You'd maintain our weapons, our tanks. You'd ensure our supplies are sufficient to withstand a siege. War is drudgery, day to day.

And then, one day, you're awoken by artillery shells exploding twenty feet from your head. You scramble for your rifle, to get dressed in the pitch black of night, wondering if the next shell is going to be twenty feet closer. You're too scared to even piss your goddamn pants. And even when your orders cut through the chaos, you won't stop being scared. But you damn well do your duty, as you've been trained.

The sound of bullets... it's a curious sound. Quite beautiful, in its way. Bullets whistle, coming past your ear. [She mimicks the sound, a little thwip, with her own mouth.] In that instant, you don't realize that hearing the bullet means that if you'd been standing six inches to the right, your brains would be over the floor. [A tiny, cold smirk tugs at her mouth.] Hearing the bullet is good, because it means you're still alive to have heard it.

This declaration of war is a declaration of war not just on this nation, but on imPorts. We are under attack, and if they want war I damn well mean to wage it.

The courageous, join me. The rest, stay behind our backs. War is no place for the weak-hearted.

[ The camera opens with Rose setting up a camera in front of a couch, disappearing as soon as she’s satisfied with the position. Kanaya seems pensive, her lips drawn tight, looking at something to her left, where some low chatter can be heard. Some sort of skittering noises, and an occasional squeak. Kanaya takes a deep breath and turns her attention to the camera, as she begins. ]

Around a year ago, some of you may remember I spent time in prison for, well, costumed supervillainy. I came to the Network to confess the crimes I committed as Hobgoblin, in...what one might call an ill-advised endeavor for harsher punishment. Suffice to say, I wasn't at my best at the time, or in any way my most logical. But...I wasn't at my most truthful, either. There was much that went into that situation that I left out, mostly by deliberate obfuscation or exaggeration.

[ There's another chirp from offscreen, and Kanaya breaks her thought for a moment to look to her left and gently tap a finger against her lips. She takes another deep breath, collecting her thoughts more coherently. Stop pausing so much, Kanaya. ]

The most important facet being that the Hobgoblin was primarily the result of mental manipulation, even brainwashing, conducted on me by Norman Osborn. The elder. [ Because that will always be an important distinction.

It's at this point that Rose becomes a solidly visible figure, casting an incomprehensible look towards Kanaya, utterly oblivious to just how in frame it is. Relief is, perhaps, the best way to describe it; it's been a year that she's waited for Kanaya to cast the blame on the correct person. For as long as it lasts, at least, as Kanaya unfortunately isn't done.
]

Not that it makes me entirely innocent. He told me what to do, yes, and I was compelled to follow his directives, but it isn't as though he micromanaged the whole thing. Carrying it out was still me, still my mind determining how to arrive at the destination he dictated. [There’s a frustrated sigh, off screen, quite obviously from Rose. ]

The costume, as an example, was my design. I only created it to the parameters he desired, which isn't very different from most design jobs I take. Only, this one was in preparation to becoming the client's costumed thug. Which is really all I was. More a henchwoman than a supervillain.

And even his part in it doesn't erase the lies I told in my previous confession, of course, that's still a thing that I did. I could try to paint the reasons behind that decision, the guilt and the rationalizations. I would rather have suffered someone thinking me worse than I am than allow anyone else to make themselves a target for all of this. To keep them from experiencing what had already happened to me, or what he did to Rose through me. It was a bad plan, among many bad plans.

[ This time, Rose is very conscious of her visibility. And, a very soft interjection: ] The point is that, ultimately, Norman Osborn was the grand orchestrator in this. [ Kanaya glances at her with some surprise. She was carrying on a bit, wasn't she? ] Right. Yes, that.

What it all comes down to is that Norman Osborn was a very dangerous man. Kanaya experienced violation to a degree which is unfathomable. I allowed my ego to blindside me and I ultimately allowed myself to be manipulated and played like a well tuned instrument. We could stand here all day and count the ways in which we blame ourselves and the ways in which things could have been done differently, but none of that erases what has been done.

This was a year ago, now. In the months that followed, several imPorts aided us in an extensive investigation and in the end, Norman’s recent arrest. Notably, Norman Osborn junior was a significant help. We owe everyone involved a debt of gratitude for seeing this to its end. Unfortunately, the end being that we have also subsequently seen the senior be ported out.
[ Sourly said, though it ought to be cause for some relief, later. ] If we're lucky, this world will never see his like again.

[ Francis is sitting in his Ambassador's Office for this broadcast. One day he might not be using this for business, but that day is not this one. ]

Look, I'm a Tory. It goes against everything my party stands for to act like a twenty year old hippy from the sixties and arranging marches against The Man. But I think, in this case, they might very well understand that when it comes to presenting my constituency, my putting aside party politics is not only desirable but necessary

So organised a march I did. I have interested parties already lined up on the native side, but what I'd really like is some imPort voices to join us. Whatever beef you have with the government, stick it on a sign and meet us [at location] at [time] and we'll show this government that not only are we tired of being treated as if we don't have a voice, the native people here do too. We should put up a united front and turn our numerous whispers into one loud shout.

Look forward to seeing you there.

I have to say, if any week got skipped for me due to a porter - I'm glad it was last week. [He smiles grimly, not amused by his statement, and sighs.] It's been some time since I've last addressed everyone, so I'll reintroduce myself: Dr. Harrison Wells, Heropa University professor in Kinematics. If anyone wishes to attend a science lecture for free, I open my lectures to the imPort public so long as you're respectful of the enrolled students and don't cause havoc.

[The last part in particular is especially pronounced in his voice, almost like a warning. He takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes, letting the same hand shake his hair a bit between his fingers, before continuing on.]

I understand we have a lot of new people coming in, as is usual around here. December was quiet, terrorist attacks aside, but things seem "back to normal." Large scale destruction by imPorts, people confused and scared...etcetera.

I've been here close to seven months and I have to be honest: things can be better here. We can all be better. Yet if we don't start to make changes, then people like Crane and Pan will continue to cause destruction and leave us picking up the rubble after. Oh and don't worry about them popping in to gloat about how oh so special they are, and how we can never best them, because I locked this communication away from their eyes.

[He rolls his eyes and takes a breath before continuing.]

I believe new measures need to be taken to protect ourselves and to prevent other imPorts from causing chaos. Something that can work within the confines of the government that we are, on some level - like it or not, an essential part of. Surely we hold more leverage than we even know because this country would be likely ravaged without us by this point, and surely the government isn't fond of Heropa being attacked twice in the span of a month's time.

I have my own ideas, but I would like to hear what others think of what I'm saying first. I know many people here may not be fans of preventative measures, acting instead of reacting, but if we do nothing...people like Crane and Pan won't be satisfied. They enjoy the deranged things they do and they know how to make it hurt. Don't think catching them will help when the government's idea of punishment is a slap on the wrist.

For starters - prison reformation should be key.

[And he knows something about holding dangerous superpowered criminals in spaces where they can't be a threat to anyone around them.]

[ Good evening, Masks and Menaces. Tonight, you will be treated (or possibly, weirded out or perplexed) by a video feed of a ~mysterious~ hooded woman, sitting at some dimly lit place with her elbow resting on a table and her chin resting on her hand. She's not looking at the camera directly -- she rarely ever does, because she's obviously too cool for that, but she does have the slightest hint of a smile across her lips. ]

So, I don't normally do this kind of thing, but I figured at this point, anything's fair game.

--and no, I'm not here to read more smutty literature out loud. A girl's gotta have some secrets.

[ said resident secret enigma lady of mystery, Kasumi Goto. ]

Anyway, to all the newbies: welcome. I don't know what you all have been told about this place so far by other people, but all I can really contribute is that it's a wild ride, being here. You may inquire below for more details if you so wish.

To the rest of us: happy new year. And I do mean that sincerely, despite the terrible start we've been off to, so far. I want to say that maybe we'll get a lull again, like we have the other times that something truly offensive has happened -- but word on the street is that the Russians are yelling angrily about something, so I kind of doubt that's going to be the case.

For now, let's just all try to relax, alright? I'm pretty sure stress is bad for your complexion.

... Also, fun fact, but I-- [ she sighs. So maybe she didn't really mean to make this post to address the general masses, because who does that? But because she's so Conflicted about the Worst (or Best?) Anniversary Ever that she needs. Something. Drinks. People to feel all bitter and/or nostalgic with. Mostly she doesn't want to be alone. ]

You know what, I've been here a year, as of today. Officially. So...

I think I speak for most of us -- whether it's because all the pandemonium [ get it? ] has got you needing a little pick-me-up, or because you've also just realized you've been stuck here for a year -- when I say: I need a drink. Or soul food. Or both. I guess that's what I really meant by relax. Let's see if we can actually enjoy something around here, for once. Maybe have a do-over of New Year's?

What're the best bars and food joints around the Porter cities? I've got my favorites picked out, mostly in Heropa and Nonah, but I'm always open to new experiences.

[Jacob and Raina are standing together in the video, facing the camera side-by-side. They're out in public, in a park in De Chima. Jacob speaks first.]

Hey, everyone. I just got Ported back in a few days ago. I'm still catching up. I'm not just posting to ask for updates, though. Raina and I- [He nods to her.] - have some things to say.

[ She glances over at Jacob and then smiles brightly, returning her attention to the camera. ]

It's in regards to the Unsettled ImPorts. This has been an underlying issue for quite some time, and I believe a lot of people here don't even understand the full scope of it. It's easy to be unaware when you're Registered. But life isn't as simple for those who have chosen not to swear allegiance to our government. I haven't experienced it first hand, but Jacob lived it up close and personal.

[ Raina looks to him with a fond expression, admiration for his bravery. She falls silent to allow him the chance to relay his experiences as an Unsettled ImPort. ]

I was Unsettled for more than a year before I finally Registered. It wasn't Hell, but it wasn't exactly easy either. You risk losing whatever job the government gave you, and you can say goodbye to health insurance too. That was all before they started searching us at state lines. And if you take on the bad guys without swearing loyalty, they'll call you a Vigilante and chase you down. That's what happened to me.

Which isn't fair in the least. Especially since by not registering, you're not overtly saying you're going to cause trouble. In many cases, the ones with real criminal intent will register with the government to use them as a means of protection. And in the meantime, the ones who wish to do good will be punished for it simply because they chose not to register for reasons entirely their own.

I think the best chance we have at change is educating -- not just the imPorts but the natives alike. And that's why we'd like to hear your opinions and experiences with this matter -- concerns, questions, and ideas you may have. If we speak out in public about this, our voices will be heard.

The government can tattoo us and track us, but they can't stop us from at least talking about things. You heard Raina- let's share some stories. It's not like the issues are just going to go away if we stay quiet.

[ The camera turns on to Kanaya's face, looking very much not herself. It isn't only the lack of polish, her makeup missing and hair sweat-drenched and tangled, but not even the right species. There's a softer edge to all of her features, her skin having turned from granite to coper, and of course no horns to speak of. To all appearances, she looks perfectly human, though a disheveled human, at that.

She tries to sit up in her hospital bed, but it isn't an easy task with her leg in a sling. She looks upset, frantic even, her breathing quick and labored, passing through grit teeth.
]

I need blood. Not for me, it's-- [ She pauses, taking a deep breath. ] They won't let me leave! But...it's important.

[ She glances off to the side, knitting her brows as she tries to collect her thoughts. At one point, her breath stills, as if it's stopped, but it isn't long before she breaks back into a gasp. That tactic isn't going to work when she's like this. ]

It has to be at least four. But that's per day, and I don't know how long until I'll be out. More would be ideal. If you have regenerative abilities, that's...even better.

[ She closes her eyes for a moment, taking another deep breath before she look back to the camera. ]

I know it's asking for a lot, but. Please. I need your help.

[ And the camera clicks off. ...Only to click back on a moment later, now private to Sabriel, Kanaya gripping her forehead tightly. ]

Shit. Please. Please don't hurt them. I'm. I'm taking care of it!

even when im staring at it in front of me i cant seem to conquer the idea that it isnt mine
that im not the one who gets a happy ending its only being borrowed from someone else
another me from another timeline who things progressed more happily for
another me who could look at this and actually feel like shes earned it

This is Major-General Armstrong.

Yesterday, an imPort tribunal, in accordance with the laws and regulations of this world and this nation, found Dr. Jonathan Crane guilty of multiple crimes too numerous to list here. [She sets her jaw, and her tone is slightly sour in the next part; she's not happy about the leniency of the sentence.] According to the laws governing imPorts, he'll be held in prison for two months with a further two months' house arrest.
