I'VE BEEN HERE FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW, AND HONESTLY I WAS RIGHT CONFUSED ABOUT THIS WHOLE "AMERICA" THING UP UNTIL LAST NIGHT.
TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT, I ATE A BURGER OFF A SHOVEL AND HAD THE SHORTEST FISTFIGHT OF MY LIFE WITH A GUY WHO HAD A BIG ISSUE WITH THE FACT I HAD NO IDEA THIS COUNTRY EXISTED UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO.
IT TURNS OUT AMERICANS DON'T LIKE 6FT TALL BATS. IT WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING.
ANYWAY, DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA? THE SCAMPS I'M SUPPOSED TO TEACH HOW TO SWIM WANT TO MAKE A SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THEIR GROUP AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL ANY OF THEM ARE TALKING ABOUT.
IS IT SOME KIND OF DEXNAV THING??

[ The girl that appears now on the network is not incredibly competent with this technology, but nor would she publicly broadcast without having had a bit of practice beforehand. That flicker of uncertainty in her expression is stifled, and her smile is subtle but warm. ]

Hello, [ is said, with a twinge of a raised eyebrow. ] My name is Daenerys Stormborn, of the House Targaryen, and this next moon will mark the six months I've been here. I am not the first of my land to arrive -- many of you are already familiar with Ambassador Baelish.

And over the past few months, more and more of my people have come through the Porter. We represent different lands, different values, different politics, but in this world, we find ourselves with more similarities than we'd ever imagine sharing. If any of you of Westeros or Essos are viewing this [ because gods know it took her a while ] and we've yet to meet, I'd very much like to rectify that.

There are more than just us, too, who have likewise entered this land and felt like strangers to its technology, its ways. If you feel more at home in a world of horses and candles and swords, I'd like to know you too, whether you're new or have been here for sometime. We face a conflict between wishing to recall always the worlds from which we hail, and represent them proudly, while achieving a level of integration that ensures we have a voice. Perhaps there is a solution to find, between all of us.

Likewise, [ she adds, ] if you are entirely at home here but perhaps would be willing to act as a guide, then please do step forward with your name and your skills. You would want also to be a patient sort of person, but I assure you, we learn quickly.

So uh. Hope everyone's okay after that black out earlier and all. That was....ah, intense. I never even realized how much things here relied on electricity. Back home we didn't have it, so I was used to it but. It's a lot of work to keep things going without it here, I guess.

[Sorey, focus -- !!]

Oh. Right, I wanted to ask, since I'm looking at going on a trip with Mikleo, if there's rules or anything for this sort of thing? I traveled a lot back home but that was by foot, mostly, not...airplanes and all. I know a little from my job planning vacations but. It's not necessarily something I looked into yet for myself as an imPort. So I figured it'd be best to check while we're getting everything prepared for this soon.

[Like he says, he's sort of tried looking into it. He just doesn't want to potentially forget anything.]

I know! Tell me about some fun places you guys have been too! Here or back home. Mikleo and I traveled a lot back home and saw all sorts of ruins!

[No, don't go into ruin mode and babble about statues or architecture with the network, Sorey....]

So, uh... that blackout was somethin', hunh?

[ Adachi's been busy, between parsing together what he pulled out of the investigation, to just recovering after all that time running on bare minimum sleep, so his response to it all is late in coming. Even now, he still looks like the dark circles under his eyes are permanent fixtures, and he paused a moment to rub at his eyes, as if it would help. ]

I've been thinking about it for the past few days, and I realize I'm pretty rusty with my judo. I uh...

[ He hesitated, making a face that was more directed at himself. It didn't matter what he did or who he talked to: asking for things like this and forcing himself to be a social human being was hard. ]

I-I could use someone to practice with. Get back into shape, you know?

[ Adachi sunk back a little reaching to rub at the back of his neck. ]

Also, it's my birthday today. I could use a drinking buddy for later; I don't want to spend turning thirty by myself.

Manipulating the science of space time seems improbable, if not impossible. If we embrace the simplified understanding provided to us via means of science-fiction, usually born of the writers with limited understanding of such concepts and working with what they understand to make sense on an artistic or entertainment level rather then scientific, then doubtless it is easier to stomach the possibility. In the past my research into such topics has inevitably lead to a multitude of fan discussions of topics, many of which devolved into trolling of varying levels of skill and intelligence. I hope that my research here does not fall victim to such tendencies, but my expectations are low.

My understanding of theories of the Einstein-Rosen bridge, however, would suggest that if two different pieces of space-time were connected then a tunnel would be formed that could lead you through billions of years, to alternate universes and dimensions, or possible result in a paradox is the leap was such that you confronted yourself in the past. How these wormholes would be linked to technology without deliberate action and control remains a point of confusion. I will conduct further research. I wondered if it would be possible for multiple bridges to verge into one central bridge, resulting in all of us arriving here.

I have never been to America before. It is as overbearing and loud as popular culture would suggest, but I like the pink lemonade.

January 6th, 2017. Epiphany. It has been one year since I was ported in. Happy anniversary.

[ Julian's voice is cool and calm, matter of fact and without emotion. ]

It has been quite a year, hasn't it. Soviet kidnapping. Occupation. Brainwashing. ImPorts being replaced by a version of themselves from an alternate timeline. Or from another point in time. Murders, monsters, memories, mayhem. [ He skims over the rest to get to the important part: ]

I was busy the past year. [ Now he sounds a little bit proud of himself. ] Leprechauns on St. Patrick's. Playing a prank on the capital on April Fool's. Stealing the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July. Improving Disney World's Halloween.

In December I decided to give back to the community. Christmas. Hanukkah. Yule. Kwanzaa. So many holidays based on giving. So for many of you, I gave on your behalf. I'm sure the people of this world enjoyed the donations selected from your own homes.

[Which basically means he just admitted to a few thefts. At least your stuff is in better hands now? ]

Now it is a new year. I hope many of you will follow your New Year's Resolutions. Don't give up on them early.

And it appears it's the season for new imPorts again. Welcome, newcomers. I hope this post gives you something to look forward to in the coming year.

Have a nice day.

[ She doesn't show her face in this video. But the camera is facing a pomegranate resting in a well-manicured hand, so it's no big mystery who's morbid performance art the network is about to be subjected to. ]

So it's new years soon. 2017. Wow.

[ Does the fruit seem a little soft? Over ripe? ]

Made your resolution yet? Now pretend this will be your last New Years Eve. How's that resolution stand up?

[ It's obvious by now, the fruit is sagging in her hands, and a black spot of something is growing on one side. ]

No, more than that. Pretend it's someone you love's last New Years Eve. This'll be the last time they count down with the ball. Then they'll have their last bank holidays, their last birthday, last Halloween. Maybe they get another Christmas, but probably not. Maybe you should call this one the last, just to be safe.

[ As she speaks, the distending fruit splits up one rotting side, collapsing under its own weight. Remarkably blood-like juice runs down her hand and wrist. ]

How's your resolution now? Does it mean a fucking thing?

[ The flesh of the fruit itself is sloughing off now in disgusting clumps that splatter noisily on the unseen floor. ]

Death's coming. Not just for you, but for everyone you love.

[ When the whole thing is gone, she rubs her fingers together, feeling the viscous red slime the rotten fruit left behind. ]

Happy New Years. Memento-fucking-mori.

Hullo, all.

So...The days are short, the air is cold (except in Heropa), and all of us are struggling with lingering embarrassment from all those mis-sent texts. So, to give us all a bit of cheer, and in recognition of all the holidays we've constructed to help us deal with winter, I thought we all could give one another a bit of love.

So! How does this work, then? Well -

1. Go ahead and post your name in this post.
2. People respond to you with things they like about you, lovely moments you've shared, et cetera.
3. You go out and respond to others with things you like about them.
4. NO BEING AWFUL. Do NOT give backhanded compliments or secretly troll people or things like that. The point of this is to be good to one another. Go be good to one another!

[ The video opens with Sarah sitting on her couch, leaning into the camera. She's got her hands folded in front of her and it looks, for all intents and purposes, that this is some kind of rehearsed speech. When she begins, though, it's clear that this isn't something she's memorized—it's just something she's thought about a lot and is finally ready to say out loud. ]

Hey. My name's Sarah. Some of you know me, or you've met one or more of my sisters. Right now, there are five of us, but that could change at any time.

[ She bites her lip, hesitates, then continues on. ] A couple months ago there were some rumors going on about us being, like, aliens or Russian spies or some other bullshit. None of that's true, but we understand why people've been getting suspicious about our story. So here we are, telling the truth. [ Though the camera is only showing Sarah, there's the sense that one or more of the others may be in the room as well. ]

We're clones.

[ She takes a deep breath. It's out, now. There's no taking it back. ] We're clones, and we're from a world where being a clone is a dangerous thing. You can say we've been lying to you, but we only wanted to make sure we were safe. I'd do anything to keep my sisters safe. If you wanna blame someone for keeping you in the dark, you can blame me for that. [ Another deep breath, and now Sarah sits back, less rigid, and uses one hand to scratch at the side of her neck. It's a nervous gesture, but a large part of her seems relieved for having told the truth. ] We'd been planning on making this announcement for a while, but something happened earlier that made us think now would be best. We want you to hear it from us instead of someone else.

[ There's a pause, then, and it looks like Sarah might be finished. Then she adds, ] So that's the true story. Not aliens, not spies, not whatever the hell people were saying about us. But not quintuplets, either. Clones. But people, okay?

We're still just people.

[ It's late at night when Cullen makes the post, the time of night when people would probably text something like this. But typing on the phone is still too much of an unnatural struggle for him to default to it.

He sounds relatively normal. Maybe just a tiny bit tired. ]

What is it you do when you cannot sleep and there is no work to be done to better utilize the hours you spend awake?

[ There's a tiny pause. ]

I am no stranger to sleepless nights, yet in coming here, I've now naught to do with mine.

Hey, what day is it?

But behind the smile on his face, there's a slighter edge of hesitance, and after a few moments he leans in a little closer to the camera.]

Imports, let's talk about the future.

[ Well well. There he is. He looks a lot different from the man he's been pretending to be, but it's in small, subtle ways. Head held higher, drink in hand, sunglasses propped on his head, the suit's a little looser, disheveled. In the background, there's the sound of a pout, like someone's disappointed he's not gallivanting around, instead taking time on the network. Instead of a clear liquid, like last time -- it's amber, definitely some kind of whiskey. ]

What do you want out of a future? Prosperity? Peace for imports? The ability to go home? That last one isn't really under any of our control, by the way, no matter what anyone says. How about being treated equally? Wouldn't it be nice if we weren't the exception, but instead a part of the norm? When superpowers become normal, when they're something that can come within, suddenly, it's not about where they come from, what their world is like, or what weird things influenced them -- because we're all human, at the end of the day.

But that doesn't mean that humans can't be the best they can be. [ He sits in his seat, and puts his feet up on the desk, crossed at the ankles. He's obviously not recording from a comm, but an internal camera. ]

And I know, I know -- some people are going around, saying that I'm not "myself", but what they don't understand is that I'm doing exactly what I've always done. You know that? I've been a futurist for as long as I can remember -- even before coming here -- and I've worked to build a future that I can be proud of. You know, when people look back, they're not going to look at the people who never made a difference, those among us who are content to just let things slip by, and make no waves. No, they're going to look to the people who changed the world, and if they didn't make the best one, then legacies are stained.

I don't know about you, but I don't want my legacy to go down with a whimper. I'm going to make the future better, whether you like it or not, and oh -- you can hate me, you can hate what I've done all you want, but...

At the end of the day?

I'm being the best person I can be. And so will everyone else. Things are so much easier, so much better if we don't let ourselves be held back by those issues. When we're held back by control, trying to pretend to be just as stupid as everyone else out there, when we're hiding our powers, our genius, what makes us great? We've done nobody any good. I stopped worrying, and it's been...

[ A pause. He breathes. ]

It's like a whole new world opened up before me. I recommend it, you might even like it.

I’m going to be honest with you here network, I’ve been avoiding you.

It’s not you, it’s me. I just needed some time apart from all the self-congratulating, needy social media bullcrap that this network breeds. I mean, it’s no Rumblr, but sometimes it comes a close second.

Pro tip: if it’s not about me I’m just not interested. [Hopefully that’s a joke, but there’s a big possibility it isn’t.]

But I’m here to extend the olive branch of apology for depriving you of my company for a long ass amount of time, and also remind you that the second season of my show finished airing not so long ago, so buy that shit when it’s on DVD so I can get your money. Or… a very small percentage of it.
