THE MAJORITY REPORT: MAY 10TH, 2017
With this new influx of imPorts and the fallout of the mysterious dreamscape, public opinion has never been so mixed. On one hand: intrigue! New imPorts! On the other: potentially dangerous new imPorts! New threats!

HOSTAGE MEDICATION
As seen on TMI reporting, online and televised:
Hostage situation at a new Customer Savings Solutions Pharmacy in Heropa! Male suspect captured twenty people waiting in line for their medications, threatening to repeal their need for health care.

Strangely, no hostage was harmed and the situation was resolved in mere minutes.

Two female vigilantes are rumored to have broken down and brutally humiliated a male suspect (Caucasian, 5'11''). Confirmed details remain scarce. These vigilantes are reported to have been Amazon warriors from another planet, very likely imPorts.

TYGER, TYGER VIRAL BRIGHT
As seen on BlueTube, Bwitter, Rumblr, Deddit, and some local news networks and small papers in Heropa:
A cellphone video of a chase between imPort superhero Wild Tiger and what appeared to be a repainted ImPocreat has now gone viral, after being featured on a popular imPort fanblogger's recent post. The video, following the escaped Blickablake (eventually identified as belonging to Nonah-based imPort Tetsuo Shima) and its valiant pursuer all through the city, has spawned dozens of gifs and macros, with the hashtag #tigervstiger trending on Bwitter.

Many imPort fans were endeared by the bumbling antics of the superhero known for never using his powers outside of an emergency, but some were less than impressed. Deddit user DownWithImPunks said, "lol look @ dis sad sh!t, our ~heroes~ outsmrted by a machin w/ no brainz. feel rly safe 2day", while others argued the real problem was with Tetsuo for allowing his ImPocreat to run wild in the first place. "It's government property after all," pointed out one noted import critic in his column in a local newspaper, "we can't have that kind of thing falling into the wrong hands. Irresponsibility in this case is a matter of national security."

Meanwhile, BuckStars, the origin point of the chase, has capitalized on the buzz--offering a limited edition Wild Blickablake Bubble Tea free with any purchase of a large drink* and posting a link to the clip on their official website.

NATURAL CAUSE AND EFFECT
As seen on BlueTube and limited local newspaper coverage:
Police in Maurtia Falls have reported the death of Sally Cunliffe, 68. A respected local business owner, Ms. Sally Cunliffe reportedly transferred a large sum of money from her account just prior to her death. The official coroner report indicates that her death was due to a heart attack. Police are not treating the death as suspicious. That being said, authorities would like the recipient of Ms. Cunliffe's funds to come forward to answer a few routine questions, as they have so far been unable to trace them.

WELL PLAYED, YOUNG SPORT
As seen on BlueTube and in Nonah newspapers:
We're midway through this year's national youth soccer championships, and in a surprising turn of events, Nonah Middle School's very own Blue Barracudas are shaping up to be the team to beat!

Although they had a slow start at the beginning of the season, with the majority of the players' performances being described as lackluster, a marked improvement in their playing — believed to be the result of midfielder Yuuto Kidou's expert instruction — has rocketed the team into the front running.

The departure of two key players, co-captain and midfielder Ken Amada and defender Hiroto Kiyama, will no doubt have a monumental impact on the team's range of capabilities going forward, but coach Peyton Chamgerlain has stated that she believes their new lineup will be pivotal in crushing their competition. The Barracudas have elected Yuuto to be their new captain, and with Koujirou Genda rumored to be an unrivaled goalkeeper, and newcomer Jirou Sakuma being welcomed late onto the team as their primary striker, it would seem Chamgerlain has managed to successfully cover for the team's losses, and in record time to boot!

The Blue Barracudas' next match against the Astro Hawks will be held next Friday afternoon. Show your support for these fine youth athletes by sporting the Barracudas' blue and white colors, coming down to Nonah Middle School to watch the game, or by tuning in on BlueTube to watch live coverage brought to you by Nonah Middle School's student body president, Joseph Lee.

bElieve
As seen on Maurtia Falls televised news:
Upon the tallest hill in the city of Maurtia Falls sits a new art installment on the sidewalk. It seems that the guerrilla artiste bElish has struck again! A four foot tall bust made in the likeness of Ambassador Baelish and composed entirely out of synthetic honeycomb has been left on display on top a five-foot tall white podium.

What is the meaning behind this, the public wonders.

[He's had plenty of time to toy with this gizmo (all technical terms, thank you mental projection of Kay that's moved back into his brain now that it's not too painful because there's a real Kay again, shush), but still hasn't put himself on it for more than a brief response to Catelyn Stark.

For all his well-[founded?]-honed mistrust of open networks, it has chastened him that he could have found Jyn and Kay much more quickly if he'd used it from the start. For all the research he does, it's unignorable that he's wasting a huge amount of this powerful resource by relegating himself to observer, not participant.

…And there's one or two other imPorts he's learned about that… have caught his attention. He's wondering if he'll catch theirs.

So, network, hello: months after his arrival (albeit a good percent of them spent unconscious): Human. Male. Age hard to tell: either in his thirties-forties or face prematurely hollowed and lined. Hair: dark, cut as if by himself with a tool not meant for such use and no mirror. Eyes: several galaxies' worth. Shirt doesn't look like anything specific to those who wouldn't know the style, instantly recognizable as Corellian to those who would.

Then he smiles—in a way that seems entirely effortless, genuine, and engaged—and some of the agedness falls away. The eyes crinkle and sparkle. He seems approachable and warm. Even the haircut is transformed into seeming less unloved and more boyish. It gives this stranger the face of a friend.

His accent, when he speaks, sounds Hispanic to Earth American ears.]

I was wondering, if you're willing to share—

[on an open network, though that's not necessarily a good barometer of the network itself]

Are you still in the job you were assigned? Yes or no, how is it going for you?

I've read the introductory material on this. I'm wondering about personal experiences.

[He's tried to go beyond the official literature, including as much of the backlog as he could find or slice. Which is also why he doesn't repeat Godric's question (to which the answers were exceedingly helpful—and a few that sent a shiver up his spine. But pull it together, don't apply superstitious thought to the superstitious thoughts: that's what common cosmological models do).

As if in afterthought, and as if with self-conscious awkwardness, he adds]

…and hello. My name's Cassian.

Whups-

Is it working?

[The camera shifts, showing Callaghan and Kotetsu - the latter fumbling with it. They are also upside down.]

I think so, but-

Pretty sure you've got it backwards, there.

Oh crap, right. Sorry. [Cue Kotetsu flipping it up as Callaghan hides a faint smile, glancing at him as Kotetsu gets them both in-frame. They look to be in an office of some sort, some papers set up on a desk behind them along with books and the like.] This right?

Mhm.

Cool. Okay! I'm Kotetsu Kaburagi-

-and I'm Robert Callaghan. [He looks back at the camera.] It's my pleasure to inform you all that we've finally completed a few changes for the campus. Many of you know the place as 'Xavier's School for imPorts', set outside of Heropa. [He tilts his head] We'll now be known as the Heropa Organization for imPort Education, shorthand HOPE. [And that gets a proud quirk of lips.] We'll also now be offering some college-level classes for our more advanced students, in addition to our powers training [A brief pause while he tilts his head towards Kotetsu, who grins] and general education curriculum. As always, you're welcome to stay in the dorms or commute as you'd like.

With that said, we're looking to make use of the dorms.
[He grows a little more serious] Some of you are unRegistered, like me, for whatever reasons. Regardless of those reasons, if you're finding it difficult to get by without the aid that's offered for those who do Register, we'd like to offer you a place to stay while you get your feet under you. This offer's open to anyone, regardless of age, so long as you behave yourselves and at least make an effort to make your way. If you need some advisement with where to go or what to do, we're willing to support you however we can and you can help around the school if you're having issues finding employment.

And on that subject, we're always looking for more faculty, or even staff for the non-teaching positions. If you're interested in any of this - attendance, employment, or lodging - we'd be happy to speak with you.

[[OOC; tl;dr Xavier's School for imPorts > Heropa Organization for imPort Education. Some college level classes offered. Unregistered can hang out there if you help around the place and/or just need a place to stay for a bit. Nothing really stopping Registered from doing it but you already get free shit why you need]

[Oh hey, it's Aerith. No one's seen her for a few months, huh?

Though she just turned on the video, she already looks for a moment like she forgot about it. She's staring off at something in the distance that the viewfinder can't see, if there's anything there, anyway.

A moment passes and she glances back at her phone.]

Kel isn't here anymore. But Tetsuo is. It hasn't been that long, right?

[Someone would be right if they noticed she's acting even weirder than normal.]

Can someone tell me what happened while I was gone?

[After one inappropriately long pause--]

I made it back in time for my birthday.

[ Kanaya comes onto the video huddled close to the camera, speaking almost in a whisper. She's trying to hide something, or escape prying ears. ]

So, I know this is short notice, but I'm in a bit of a bind. It's my daughter's birthday tomorrow and I've...never really hosted a party for anyone her age before? I mean, it's only her first, and I'm still working out what exactly it is that I'm doing. She's without any friends her age to invite over, and I'm not acquainted with many other young parents to take notes from. You know, she isn't like human girls, so it's not easy to socialize her with them.

So, I don't know. If anyone would be interested in celebrating a one-year-old grub's birthday, or has ideas to pass off for what such a celebration should look like...

[ She freezes, cutting herself off as she looks off to the side. Her eyes are wide as if she's been caught in the act, but so overdramatically that it must be facetious, right? Her eyes flash back to the camera, then it tilts over to a nearby doorway, where something large and white stares up. Kanaya's daughter is a moth larva who's the size of a medium dog, for now.

She clicks at Kanaya suspiciously, but Kanaya just gives her a smile.
]

It's nothing, darling! Go on and finish your dinner before the dog gets into it. [ Ashiah's on to her, she has to cut this short. She looks back over at the camera, and mouths "Help" before the feed ends. ]

Hullo, all.

So...The days are short, the air is cold (except in Heropa), and all of us are struggling with lingering embarrassment from all those mis-sent texts. So, to give us all a bit of cheer, and in recognition of all the holidays we've constructed to help us deal with winter, I thought we all could give one another a bit of love.

So! How does this work, then? Well -

1. Go ahead and post your name in this post.
2. People respond to you with things they like about you, lovely moments you've shared, et cetera.
3. You go out and respond to others with things you like about them.
4. NO BEING AWFUL. Do NOT give backhanded compliments or secretly troll people or things like that. The point of this is to be good to one another. Go be good to one another!

[The video opens to an office. People who have been affiliated with Xavier's School for ImPorts in some capacity or another might recognize it as the Headmaster's office, previously belonging to Robert Callaghan. There's, uh, a mix of organized stacks of paperwork and haphazardly strewn piles. Guess which ones Kotetsu had anything to do with. A copy machine is insistently beeping about its paper jam and he smacks it a couple times in frustration before he just gives up and unplugs it. He gives the network a slightly flustered wave.]

Uh, hi. This is Kotetsu Kaburagi. I'm the powers tutor at the Xavier's School for ImPorts. ...Which, uh, isn't just for imPorts anymore and...[he makes an awkward noise in his throat] Xavier asked to have his name taken off, since he's not affiliated and all, so, uh, if anyone has suggestions for a new one, that'd be great....

[He rubs at his neck, coughs.]

So, a-anyway, that stuff aside. Callaghan Ported out a few months ago, so we don't have a Headmaster anymore. And I'm, not really--[vague gesturing to the general state of the office]

Well, I could use some help. Like, official help. Just contact me here or in private if you're interested?

[Qualifications: just don't be a criminal. Please.]

Also, the people we had working security have Ported out or moved onto other work by now, so I'm looking for more people for that, too.

--Oh, yeah, if anyone wants to enroll at the school, lemme know! It's a regular high school for the most part, but it's a great place to practice your powers in a safe place, if that's something you're interested in.

Thanks!

[The video opens on a guy with a mass of long hair that's being tied behind with both hands. The feed captures his medical coat, and the dim blue hue of monitors to his back. Their light reflects off the metal shelf by his right, whilst his desk sits in darkness, save for a lamp pointed down at the papers on its surface.

Machines hum in the background; together with the ticking of a clock and nearby footfall. He takes a hasty glance and, unsure of how to begin things, shuts his eyes. Does he introduce himself? Does he jump straight to his question? His fingers pull the tie taut then tap his sides. Last month's events were a strange twist of fate - a collapse of logic - that did not allow them peace. Alas! They had raised a question he could not solve alone.

It takes a moment of thought before he talks. His voice is calm but his speech? Noticably slow.]

On examining the situation with the rise of native superheroes, as you call them, I find myself puzzled. We beheld those who were ordinary become capable of the extraordinary. I request you answer one question that's on my mind:

What is the place of imPorts in this world now?

Imports, let's talk about the future.

[ Well well. There he is. He looks a lot different from the man he's been pretending to be, but it's in small, subtle ways. Head held higher, drink in hand, sunglasses propped on his head, the suit's a little looser, disheveled. In the background, there's the sound of a pout, like someone's disappointed he's not gallivanting around, instead taking time on the network. Instead of a clear liquid, like last time -- it's amber, definitely some kind of whiskey. ]

What do you want out of a future? Prosperity? Peace for imports? The ability to go home? That last one isn't really under any of our control, by the way, no matter what anyone says. How about being treated equally? Wouldn't it be nice if we weren't the exception, but instead a part of the norm? When superpowers become normal, when they're something that can come within, suddenly, it's not about where they come from, what their world is like, or what weird things influenced them -- because we're all human, at the end of the day.

But that doesn't mean that humans can't be the best they can be. [ He sits in his seat, and puts his feet up on the desk, crossed at the ankles. He's obviously not recording from a comm, but an internal camera. ]

And I know, I know -- some people are going around, saying that I'm not "myself", but what they don't understand is that I'm doing exactly what I've always done. You know that? I've been a futurist for as long as I can remember -- even before coming here -- and I've worked to build a future that I can be proud of. You know, when people look back, they're not going to look at the people who never made a difference, those among us who are content to just let things slip by, and make no waves. No, they're going to look to the people who changed the world, and if they didn't make the best one, then legacies are stained.

I don't know about you, but I don't want my legacy to go down with a whimper. I'm going to make the future better, whether you like it or not, and oh -- you can hate me, you can hate what I've done all you want, but...

At the end of the day?

I'm being the best person I can be. And so will everyone else. Things are so much easier, so much better if we don't let ourselves be held back by those issues. When we're held back by control, trying to pretend to be just as stupid as everyone else out there, when we're hiding our powers, our genius, what makes us great? We've done nobody any good. I stopped worrying, and it's been...

[ A pause. He breathes. ]

It's like a whole new world opened up before me. I recommend it, you might even like it.

[ The feed opens on a video that looks like it was recorded by something much higher quality than the standard imPort communicator, as a dark-haired woman walks down a runway in a very colorful drape dress. The colors blaze across the fabric in a way that seems both orderly and wild, passing from the hottest pinks and yellows at the shoulders to a blues and purples at the hems, mixing and mingling in the middle like the angriest possible pastels. A few of the colors even hit hues that don't look like they're naturally occurring, at least not on this planet.

It's the centerpiece of the Maryam Spring Collection, being showcased tonight in New York.

But, as the model nears the end of the runway, she looks disconcerted for a moment, as if suddenly struck by indigestion. She does her best to keep going and playing it off, but eventually she has to stop and turn her head toward the ceiling...as she burps out a large puff of flame. There are sounds of awe and shock from the audience as everyone's phones start flashing and snapping away, and the model turns back to walk as briskly as she can back behind the curtain.

The clip ends, and the video cuts to a frazzled Kanaya, broadcasting from her communicator backstage. She's wearing the biggest, fakest smile her fangs will allow, eyes wide and distressed. Behind her, the same model can be seen in the changing room, still wearing the dress, guzzling bottled water while steam pours out of her mouth. Kanaya glances back at her, smile unwavering, and the woman is clearly very upset that she can apparently breathe fire now.

Satisfied that the extent of the situation has been conveyed, Kanaya turns back to the camera, letting only one word escape her grit teeth.

[Unseen here is the five minute pause where Shinji had to consider if he really wanted to talk about this in public, but Hell, there's someone from his world here already. It's not like he can control what people find out anymore.]

there are probably a lot of people here from worlds where theres more sapient species on earth than just humans, right? i know for a fact theres worlds were elves and dragons and stuff are real at least

how does that work? is it possible for two species to co-exist in peace like that? even if one of them seems monstrous?

in my world there was another species too (well kind of another species but not really long story) and in the end there could only be one of us left. we just couldnt share the earth. maybe because there was only supposed to be one to begin with

i guess what im asking is

could it have been different?

On a completely unrelated point: those of you who are dead back home, how do you cope with that knowledge? Feel free to respond anonymously if you wish-- I find it more cathartic, especially where personal questions are concerned.

Recent events have me thinking.

[ Stark says, taking a sip from his cup, before he focuses back on a camera. It's a lot more HD than your usual import camera -- then again, nothing but the best for Tony Stark. ]

In recent months, we've had people showing up, different times, completely different people, and now there's word of people sticking around. That's different, it's never happened before. [ A pause, a sip. ] But who knows, it could be a fluke, right? Or maybe I don't have complete data. Anyone else heard of anything like that happening?

I mean, that's as an aside. I've... I've seen a lot of people hold themselves responsible -- myself included -- for things that someone who isn't them did. Either a person they become, a person they were and aren't anymore -- or a completely different person.

Would you hold them responsible? After my...unfortunate incident I found people were holding me responsible for things that this -- different version of me had done. Is that a constant? Should people be held accountable for things that they weren't necessarily guilty of? If I'm ported out tomorrow, would the Tony Stark that replaces me be held accountable for anything I did over my time here?

[ Another pause then. His finger drums against the glass. ] Anyone have any thoughts?

In my world, there are people born with a genetic mutation that causes the manifestation of various superpowers. We’re called mutants, for obvious reasons, and people hate us. Not everybody, but enough people and with enough ferocity that being a mutant can be dangerous.

I know that as well as anybody else, I guess. I was targeted and murdered by an organization called the Church of Humanity. I never understood why ME. I’d never really done anything to anybody. Not on purpose.

I kind of get it now, though. These past few days, I thought I came from a world where I hadn’t died. In that world, I retaliated against the Church’s attack and killed William Stryker and all of his men in the process. I’d been scared, and I’d been angry, and that’s what I’m capable of. The fact is… I’m monstrously powerful, and I don’t know if I can really blame somebody for thinking I must be a monster from a distance.

Which isn’t to say I forgive them for killing me. It sort of brings up the Big Conflict, you know? How far do you let somebody push you before you retaliate? And then how do you live with that? I don’t know if there are universally satisfying answers. I hope I never have to figure it out by experience. Knowing what I’d done in that life felt horrible, mostly.

I don’t know where I’m going with this. Sorry. It’s a little melodramatic, isn’t it? I just feel like I have apologize for something that never actually happened to me, even though I don’t know if I’d actually apologize for it if it DID happen.

How do you deal with what you’re capable of?

It meant a lot to me to be able to see them surrounded by so many people.

That said! [she claps her hands once, softly.] If the boys had borrowed something from you and you want it back, please let me know. I'm going to be going through their belongings and storing them. If you had borrowed something from them and want to return it, you can bring it to the café and I'll hold on to them.

As for my second announcement. [Here she sighs and takes a look around at the store.] We've been shorthanded at the shop lately.
