Hi. I'm Abigail and I'm not running for anything. [She gives a small smile.]

This is a harpsichord. [She plays a a short piece of music. Due to her power, anyone listening would enjoy it even if they don't normally enjoy that style of music.]

I have an album coming out soon. [She considers mentioning it's because she won impovision and decides it might sound too braggy.]

It's mostly harpsichord. There's some of me singing and some piano as well. There's going to be a warning label on the album about my power. Some of the music will have an emotional affect. All good ones and all described on the label. If you're okay with that, and you think you'll buy my album, I especially recommend the lullabies. They can help with sleep and keep nightmares away.

If sleep's ever getting really bad and you don't have the album, you can call me to play something for you over the phone. I know what it's like to have trouble with sleep. I don't want anyone to go through that.

There's more lively music on the album too - songs that'll get you energized, feeling happy.

They're already having me working on a second one. It'll be out by the holidays. If this goes well, I might quit my job and turn this music thing into a full time job. It's kind of scary to think of quitting. But it's a good kind of scary. I didn't even know that was possible.

Anyway...[She gestures to her harpsichord.] Any requests?

No. I never even thought about music until Hannibal told me that he wanted to teach me the harpsichord. He taught me to draw too. And cook.

How long ago was that?

I've been here for two years, and it was about a year before that. So, close to three years ago.

And because of your power, no matter what you play, people will have an emotional reaction to it?

Not exactly. I can give an emotional reaction when I choose to. Or I can help with sleep, help them to remember things they've forgotten, heal illness and wounds. It works best when I know the person and can use a song related to their situation.

Did you use it for me just now? [He doesn't sound upset, at least. Mainly curious.]

No. I let people know when I'm going to use it. On the CD, every song where I use my powers will be labelled.

Did you feel something?

I did...but I suppose that was just me, then. [Unsurprising, but still...unexpected.] But music can do that. Evoke an emotional response, with or without powers.

It can. And I kind of take it as a compliment that it did. It was a positive response, right?

So to speak. I miss the person it reminded me of, but remembering those you care about is never be burden.

I use a memory palace to remember the people I've lost.

The method of loci? Interesting. That works for you?

It does. I keep the people I want to remember in rooms I can visit and I lock the scarier ones away. You might be the first person who's heard of it.

It's a little more common a concept where I'm from. Programmers use it as a means to understand android observation and data retention.

Oh. Did you work in some kind of tech job then?

I'm an android.

A like phrase is even used in my modules. 'Mind palace.'

That's cool. I learned the phrase from a psychiatrist back home. It's interesting that it can be used in such different ways.

The more I explore philosophy and psychology, the more I think that there really isn't that much of a difference between the human brain and the android matrix as some are led to believe.

Yes. Quite a few. [...that apparently Markus isn't going to get into, okay then]

So, you have to deal with that on top of the false beliefs that people have about imports. That has to suck.

I haven't run into misconceptions nearly as often here as I have back home. I'm still getting used to the false beliefs people have about imPorts, truth be told.

That's good then. This place is better than my home too.

The false beliefs are mostly that people think all imports are hero types or they think we're all bad.

Are we? [Either all bad or all hero types.] Or is the middle ground a little wider than expected?

The middle ground is very wide. It's very hard to be all bad or all good.
