It doesn't last forever. In the way that a pain reliever lasts for a few hours, the pain always comes back, right? Think of uncontrolled rage as a pain. I can relieve it for a while. I can replace it with something more fun, or just leave you to feel nothing for a while.

[That doesn't make it sound any less dangerous. D33 knows a thing or two about uncontrollable rage. It seems that someone could easily become dependent on something that promised to take that feeling away (are you sure this isn't just alcohol?)]
