It's a great place if you're rich and know magic. You have every opportunity open to you.

But if you're like me and get orphaned as a kid and have no money or ability to use magic, then you either become a soldier and sent off to war or you work your ass off to try and get an apprenticeship in a trade.

I was lucky enough to have been adopted by a master blacksmith and I showed enough potential to have him also accept me on as his apprentice.
