Like what? Forego the truce entirely, so he would have used his devices sporadically over months, and months, hurting other people and driving you into obsession? Or maybe, keep him tethered, or locked in a cage, before he'd done anything foul in this world, driving people to distrust you, and ruin the goodwill you've built in the world, and keeping you prisoner just as completely?
