I mean, I guess it depends on what you mean by 'genuine intent'.
Like Peter's probably the most genuinely good person I've met here, but I don't know what to make of it and it makes me nervous. But even genuine intent is also tied with self-interest: There's a desire to help others to be a good person. Because people like being good people, or at least they like the absence of guilt that would come with violating their moral code.
He will do things that are bad for himself if they benefit others, even if he doesn't know the others. And he believes the best in people. He wants to trust them. I think he's naive, but that's a question on its own, right?
I try to do good sometimes, but I'm not under the delusion that I'm doing it for anything more than my own reasons, and it's only about the people I care about.

Have you seen exceptions here? How much must one do before they qualify as someone with a genuine intent to help others?

My boyfriend. Peter Parker.

You don't think that may make you bias towards his intent? What makes him genuinely good versus others?
no subject
Of course I'm biased. That's assumed.
He will do things that are bad for himself if they benefit others, even if he doesn't know the others. And he believes the best in people. He wants to trust them. I think he's naive, but that's a question on its own, right?
Does being good require being naive?

But I think it would be hard to see the absolute truth and maintain nobility of spirit.
So... Yes. That would be my guess.
no subject
Yeah, that would be my answer too.
no subject
So... regardless of this opinion, do you still try to do good? For yourself? For a select few?
no subject
No, I'm not naive. At least in my opinion.
I try to do good sometimes, but I'm not under the delusion that I'm doing it for anything more than my own reasons, and it's only about the people I care about.

It must be fortunately for those you care about, if nothing else.
no subject
That assumes goodness even is a real thing.
Yeah, it works out in their favor. But it's selfish on my part.

I'm trying to find nobility in this world, you see.
