There are three "goddesses," named for the Greek Fates --or actually somehow related to them, I don't know-- who have been wound up with all of this, imPorts and other worlds, for a long time now. We had something of a final stare-down with them several months ago.
Part of it involved giving valuable things up, memories or treasured objects.
Then they knit the fabric of reality back together, apparently, and we saved this particular plane of existence. And presumably many others.
