[Luxord is not very comfortable with these 'phones' that people use here. They're like Gummiphones but more complex and troublesome. What's worse, at the moment his is very hard to operate. For instance, he intended to set up an audio post, and believes he has. Instead there is a video of Luxord. Sort of. To those that know him it will look mostly like Luxord. For everyone else, well, haven't you ever wanted to watch one of those overly detailed Play Arts figures come to life? Because that's what is on screen, right down to the articulated arms and joints, and hands frozen into certain positions.

You want uncanny valley? The plastic man doesn't blink. Instead it's like the detail of his eyes goes away, replaced by a closed-eyes face, and then back. Too fast for even super speed to see anything MOVE. Just open eyes. Eyes blinking closed. Open eyes. Creepy. Worse is his mouth, that moves a bit like old fashioned video game or cartoon characters. Closed to open a little, open a lot, and back. Lots of times. LIke it's painted on.

Truth of the matter was that his awkwardly shaped and plastic hands accidentally hit video feed instead of audio only, and so the camera has him at a strange angle, and moves around jerkily as he attempts to gesture within his very limited range of motion. But hey, at least he's still life-sized.]

Forgive me for the intrusion while everyone is so clearly so excitedly engaged in the most recent amusement that this world has cooked up for us without any clear sense of supervision to control its over-eager bluster. However I have found myself in a position of needing recommendations on a proper cleaning solution for plastic collectibles, one which will not dissolve the plastic or the paint. It seems I've unwittingly come into possession of a rather impressive collection there of and until such time as this issue is remedied, I do still wish to preserve the mint condition of it.

[In other words, help, somebody spilled jam upon him and he needs to clean up.]

[Abigail decides to communicate by text, because the video is a bit unsettling and she knows how it feels to have people look at her and be bothered by her scars. She doesn't want to look at him in the same way.]

Warm water mixed with a small amount of vinegar might work. Or a gentle soap and water.
Don't use hot water.
Or go to a store that sells action figures and ask them if they sell cleaning solutions.

[Old fashioned video games and movies? Horrible animation and bad details? This girl was born in that era and lived it. She's not weirded out by his appearance at all.]

Vinegar mixed with some water should work. Or, soap and water.

[She is Jane Foster, future astrophysicist and she plays with plastic toys before breakfast.]

Equal ratios. If you are going to use soap, go with liquid, and one drop to about a cup of water. Or eight fluid ounces.

It depends upon what you think 'bright' is.

[She's getting 'ugh she's a pest' vibes from him big time.]

I'll take that as a compliment.

[She is still giving him a slight stink-eye.]

Did you make a mess in the kitchen?

[Jane frowned for a moment and then her expression became one of realization.]

How did you manage that? Jars are hard enough to open for normal sized hands!

[personal profile] bifroster 2020-05-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, with how awkwardly you're moving on camera, I don't think your hands are moving like they're supposed to. Am I right?

Yes. The video is on. Are you able to see me?

[Well, now he can't see her frown in confusion, even though that is in her tone.]

Oh. Then yeah, soap and water or some water and vinegar should do it. Use a soft towel to dry off too.

...do you need some help? Because if your friends don't know what a towel is ...

Been there, done that, totally fine.

I am careful. I use the same routes and I know where the police stations are.

Warm water is fine.  Just not too hot.  As long as it's not hot enough to melt the paint or the plastic.
Use a towel and pat dry.  Don't use any heat methods of drying.

People here are used to the sight of imports who are non-human.  If you're not comfortable going out, you could always order online or call - without using the video.
