Um. So, I know Halloween's not even passed, but I've a question! Say someone wants to take their sewing skills pro, what'd be the best way?

[The more she talks, the more apparent it becomes that she's nervous.] I've shown my skills off here before, and I've made a few things for people as well and I'm happy to show them off again. But I've never really thought about doing it for money, you know?

And if I did, I'm not sure how much I'd charge, because I do it more to see people enjoy what I make than for the money, you know? But... I know if I take this pro doing it like that mean I could get taken advantage of, so... I don't know what to do. I want to do this because I like it, yet...

So! Any advice is welcome.

The first thing to find out would be, what are others in the same profession charging for their services? Then raise it, since you're an imPort.

[ If he finds out anyone's taking advantage, he's going to have a discussion with them... the kind of discussion that involves sharp objects. ]

[ he tsks ]

You're not "over-charging", you're having your price reflect the rarity of what you're offering. If someone wants a non-imPort made item, I'm sure there are thousands of options they can choose from. You are providing something they can't: exclusivity. People want to pay more for something unique, it makes them feel like they're getting their money's worth.

[ Definitely wouldn't be the first time someone's disapproved of his tactics... ]

I guess you'd look at what people doing similar work to you are charging. You should probably compare to people doing things the way you are, rather than mass-production. Mass production makes things for super cheap.

You can easily ask more than normal because you're an imPort, too. It's worth looking into, especially if you plan on making something like a fashion line some day. Higher prices also means that you're getting paid more fairly. I read somewhere that people do handmade work tend to underpay themselves. Uh, I guess one thing you can do is time how long it takes you to make something, multiply it by the minimum wage, and then add the cost of materials, if you're looking for your absolute minimum price.

Making and selling things is also a good way to make money for a charity if you really don't feel good about keeping more than the money needed for supplies. It also gives you a better excuse to charge higher prices, because it's going to a good cause.

Hmm. Good question. I would research and see if there is some sort of niche you could fill. That would give you an edge over any other competition!

[ Hey, whatever gets her excited about the idea. ]

Oh yes, branding is very important.

no worries :)

Totally! With people going against fast or cheap fashion, having something well made or easily tailored would draw in a lot of people.

You know Knock Out and Ruby too?

[ Mizuki really does give him entirely too much credit, but he won't deny it makes indulging her that much more enjoyable. ]

If you'd like, I don't mind. The good news is that you're essentially a clean slate, at least from a public view standpoint.

That sounds like the best way of going about it.

I'd suggest looking into places in Maurtia Falls. You might be able to help keep kids from falling into a bad situation there. [ Ruby's too, though, she had no idea of Mizuki's own dealings. ]

Maybe you can talk to an artist about that.
