VIDEO killed the radio intern

Hi! I’m Gon! [Nudges Killua. Introduce yourself. Killua makes an exasperated face before raising one hand out of a pocket for a slow wave.] Yo. I’m Killua. [Gon frowns at him.] What? That’s so lame. Are you trying to be cool? [At that, Killua bristles, jabbing a finger accusingly at Gon.] How is it lame?! It’s the same way you introduced yourself! [Gon snorts then turns to the camera like a robot and raises a hand, mimicking Killua in a bad robot voice.] “Hi, I’m Killua”.

[For that, Gon gets a heavy punch to the top of his head.] Stop being stupid, idiot! Yeah, I’m the idiot so stop being dumb! That doesn’t make any sense! [For a long few seconds, he stares at Gon in frustration, but eventually his shoulders sag and he sighs, looking to the camera. He gives up.]

Anyway, we’re in need of some help. [Gon nods gravely next to him.] There’s something very important that we need to get a hold of. [Gon nods again before cutting in.] It costs a lot though and we don’t have that kind of money right now.

Normally we wouldn’t bother asking for money like this, but this is something we need as soon as possible. We were hoping some of you could help us. We’re both really fast and strong and Killua’s short [they're the same height] so he could probably fit in small places. Who’s short?! We were hoping someone would have some extra jobs for us. We have our own but… They don’t pay much money, and it’d take way too long. So if you need someone to mow your lawn, wash your dishes, or catch really big fish, let us know!

[There’s a pause and then they both look at each other with a satisfied (and honestly kind of proud) nod before smiling back at the comm with their biggest smiles. In unison:]

Thank you for helping us get a hoverboard!

[They're okay.]

[On his own, away from other people, Kite takes in a deep slow breath and wills his heart to calm down. He'd close his eyes, too, just to help but he doesn't want to. He keeps looking over the pair of boys, doing his best to pick out if there's anything wrong, anything off. Scars, signs of trauma or stress, anything at all.]

[He still remembers the rage bursting out from Gon, that burst of panic in his own chest when he'd felt all that Nen and no no no RUN... The panic in Killua's eyes as he'd done the only thing that could have been done.]

[His shoulder gives a throb. Without thinking too much of it, Kite reaches up to rub at it.]

[They're okay. Like nothing's happened, they're both joking around and focusing on some silly thing. Either way, it doesn't seem like there's anything to worry about... He's kept them waiting long enough for any sort of reply, and there's some things he wants to ask as well. He finally turns on his own video.]

Hoverboard, huh?

[BIG DUMB SMILE DOWN AT HIS PHONE. HI... total stranger]

Mhm. Killua and I are gonna-

[The voice sounds, and Killua can feel his heart slow down. Everything slows down. Kite's movements over this video phone, the way Gon immediately and obliviously smiles in preparation for his response, and the step he takes to stop him. It's not fast enough. Of course it's not, not when he hesitated like that!

He snatches the phone straight out of Gon's hands and holds it close, spinning on his heels and jumping a good distance away from Gon for the time being. Suddenly, that calm and carefree demeanor is gone, and his expression is filled with relief and sadness and worry. Is this really him? Can it really be him?]

Kite!! [Gon is going to react fast because this is so out of nowhere, and he knows it. But he can't just speak out loud about what he knows... Gon's not so stupid that he wouldn't catch on when it was this obvious, right? His grip on the phone tightens a little too much, the plastic threatening to crack.]

You're okay. [He has to be quick-- He speaks in a harsh whisper.] He doesn't know.

[It's immediately clear that something isn't quite the same, just in that first moment as Gon greets him.]

[What's surprising is Killua's reaction- or lack of before he suddenly leaps into action, literally. Kite shifts, leaning forward. Doesn't know- Porter issue? It seems like the most obvious place to start.]

I'm fine. [Just as quiet.] Don't worry.

[He won't say a word.]

The two of you are alright?

[There's the obvious shouts of Gon in the background, demanding to know what's going on, but Killua ignores him for now. Staring meaningfully into the camera instead, he's grateful that Kite is so quick to catch on. Even still, he feels like he owes talking to him later to explain it fully. It doesn't feel right to leave it at Gon just forgetting him.

His worried expression wipes away mostly, but the emotion stays in his eyes. For now, he puts on a small smile, still relieved and happy at the meeting. Gon can wait!]

Yeah. ...I'm sorry. For leaving you. I had to get us out of there. [The guilt still twists his gut, and he looks away at it, back over to Gon. Still whining and yelling.]

Since we're stuck here anyway, we thought we'd try to get a hoverboard. [He calls out to his friend, finally:] Right, Gon?

[He pulls his arm back to ready for a throw, the only sign before he actually does it, chucking it towards Gon.]

[The phone spins and spins in the air and the camera with it, stopping only when it lands with a smack in Gon's palm. His smile is audible.] Got it! [The sound of his tongue sticking out. Probably making faces at Killua. Either way the camera can't see shit until Gon finally remembers it's there. Hurriedly, he pulls it back down, looking a touch frantic.]

Sorry! Killua was being a jerk! [He states the last three words loud enough for Killua to hear.] Killua and I are gonna share a hoverboard. I'd like one for myself but it makes more sense if we share it. Killua's better at skateboarding than me. [He seems kind of put out by that.]

[They can talk about everything later. Right now obviously isn't that time. He doesn't mind. If there's one valuable lesson he's learned as a Hunter, it's patience.]

[Instead of trying to dwell on it too much, he leans back again and lets his face go back to being calm. The sound of them messing around with each other just makes him smile a small bit.]

So long as you work hard, I imagine you'll both be able to have your own soon enough. What sort of jobs have the two of you managed to pick up, anyway?

[ Hrm. ]

How do you feel about dogs?

[ despite the text, the comm id still reads chrollo lucifer ]

It's going to take you quite a while, with such small tasks.

[A hoverboard! She can respect that, those things are cool as heck.]

Can we just make a donation? We wash our own dishes and as far as I know I don't need a big fish.

Dogs? I have one, sort of, so they're fine. Did you want us to take care of one or something? We can do that!

[He reads the message first, and comes up with a great reply, but then the name comes next. Surprised, his eyes widen before narrowing again to something serious, and he points out the name to Gon.]

Gon, look. [It's probably important enough to put their hoverboard money raising on hold. Temporarily.]

Yeah, sure.

[It's a pretty immediate reaction, because he doesn't see anything wrong with it.] Ideally we want to make enough money as soon as possible, so it helps if we don't have to do odd jobs for everyone.

Um... Killua's a radio host and I'm gonna help catch dogs. [He grins.] My job's better. Why? What's your job, mister?

Dogs are great! Although- [A beat. He frowns.] -What kind is it? If it's too big I'm not sure we can keep it inside.

I see it. [It's enough to remove all prior levity. He frowns at the name for a long moment, grip tightening. Then, he turns to Killua.] Can you make sure Kurapika isn't here?

[There's no need to say why. If this really was Chrollo... No. He needed to make sure it was before anything else. If Hisoka was using his name in Greed Island, what was stopping him from using it here?] I'll check to make sure it's him.

[He says it confidently, like he's got some complex plan.]

Is this Hisoka?

[A+ plan, nothing could go wrong]

[DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO KILLUA HE'S DUMB. Gon is frowning in thoughtful disapproval, shaking his head solemnly.]

No. That's not how I want to do it. We won't accept donations. [Perking up a bit.] You can think up a job for us, though! It doesn't have to be anything boring like dishes. It could be... [HOLD FOR INTENSE THINKING] ... mountain-climbing! Although-[A beat. He's thinking again.]-I don't know if there's any mountains here. Maybe we could bring you back a jellyfish.

[ wow what, he's actually a little offended ]

No.

Then you're really Chrollo? Why are you here?

[go away feather boy this was gonna be a vacation]

No one has control over being here, from the look of things.

So you're not here because of your nen?

Why are you here?

Ging led me here. So there. I told you now you tell me.

Right.

[Taking his own phone from his pocket, he messes through the options for a good few seconds before coming across the thing he could most easily identify as a 'contact list'. He scrolls through it repeatedly.]

I don't see Kurapika here... [But that doesn't mean he can't be under another name. He frowns, though, leaning closer to Gon with his own phone to point out a name on the list. Hisoka.]
