I was feeling a bit cranky about not being home for Christmas, but you know what? I don't want to be. I am the anti-cranky. I have things to be thankful for here. Like, say, all of the lovely friends I've made so far.

So cheers to you, Heropa- and wherever else imPorts reside. Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, happy Festivus, or whatever it is you celebrate. And if you don't celebrate at all, I hope you have a great day.

It's Festivus for the rest of us! Basically I've been watching too much Seinfeld lately.

That's going to be my mentality about it. ... I do miss being home and doing all the traditional things with my mom, my daughter and my fiance, but... pouting over it isn't gonna change it.

I think you may have to explain this festivus to us old souls who don't recognize the holiday.

It started off as a made-up holiday on a TV show for people who didn't celebrate Christmas. An anti-Christmas, if you will. Then people began actually celebrating it.

I see. So a fake holiday in opposition to a real one becomes a real holiday?

I don't have children or a fiance. So I've got to say, you're probably doing much more work on keeping positive than I am.

Festivus involves the barest of decorations and the airing of grievances against one another.

It is pretty much the opposite of Christmas. So I just put up the pole and decided to skip the rest. I'm not sure I'd win if there were Feats of Strength, anyway- losing is a drag.
