Okay. Stop. You're talking nonsense.

We aren't monkeys, and some of us aren't even biologically related to monkeys. Also, monkeys don't even sign leases.

It's there to protect the leaser, and it isn't even stupid. The lease is a contract, an assurance that you will to reside in the rented location for the agreed upon period of time. If you leave earlier, and without notice, the leaser is left without that source of income, hence damaging the business they rely on, the exchange the two of you have entered into.

With notice, they will be able to prepare for that vacancy, to find a new tenant and ensure the interruption in income is minimized or at least prepared for. Just flaking on them and disappearing ruins this opportunity. It's selfish and inconsiderate, and a poor business practice.

I can understand if you're worried your lease may be broken due to exPort, but throwing the whole practice out because it protects from your potential actions rather than the other way around is irresponsible and short-sighted. Try actually talking to your landlord instead to see what can be worked out to better fit our particular situation.

But if you can't be arsed to know what a lease is for, I'm tempted to think you don't have any business renting to begin with.
