[Sabriel's sitting in the study of her lodging in Heropa. She looks better than she has in the last few weeks, though she's still unnaturally pale.]

For those of you who recently arrived- my name is Sabriel, and last month, certain items of mine were stolen by someone named Melkor, who proceeded to use them to raise the Dead in Maurtia Falls, as well as using his own abilities to set part of that city on fire. Eventually the Dead were disposed of by our fellow Imports, and I subdued Melkor and took back what he stole. [And somehow, you can hear the capital 'D' in Dead.]

I would like to thank everyone who helped defeat the Dead Melkor summoned, and protected the people of Maurtia Falls during that time as well. I owe all of you a great debt. If you have need of my skills as a Charter mage, do not hesitate to call on me. [Her language may be formal, but there's sincerity and genuine warmth in the words.]

While we're on the subject of Melkor- I'm his probation officer. I will be doing everything in my power to keep him from causing more trouble, so please tell me if he's trying to cause trouble, or if any Dead Imports start attacking the living- I'm a necromancer, but I lay the dead to rest instead of raising them- and if that's not possible, I bind them.

I wasn't going to.

[Nor to put them to rest. Caesar doesn't have a use for either power.]

Abhorsen. Was it a position of power?

After all that carnage?

[ His estimations of this place just keep sinking lower and lower. ]

Not a poor assumption.

How'd he fool you?

That says something than.

Think we could just slap some kind of power taker away thingy on him like, forever?

So do I have to clean it all up then?

[He might be regretting those fireballs he sent into the city, just a little.]

All that and he gets fucking probation? Is there community service too? Trash picking?

[Someone isn't up to date on criminal policy here.]

I see they're not much concerned with conflicts of interest here. How'd you happen to get elected babysitter?

[He's mostly teasing. At the very least, it's a relief none of the natives seem to have experience with raising corpses.]

I think most people would put necromancy on that list that's not to be used.

Any particular reason he's not in jail?

Brilliant.

[On one hand, it's good that they can't be locked up for no reason. Or for espionage or treason. However, that's one hell of an accountability system.]

A shame they're not as sensible as that. Though it sort of takes the fangs out of their crackdown on vigilantism, doesn't it?

Is it enough to keep your friend in line?

I see. As long as your bells are secure.

[Harry won't patronize her and ask if she's made them safe; she's shown enough competence that he doesn't believe she'd repeat mistakes. That, and the lesson of misplaced trust stings enough without outside influence.

Still, the implication is enough. Do try and be more careful.]
