It's—been interesting lately, hasn't it?

[For a while, everything had seemed picture perfect out here, in the year 20... something. Rhys has already forgotten, but for a time it was all parties and new job offers. He was kicking back, roasting merry as any chestnut over a controlled chimney fire. Within a few weeks, he was complacent, and then shit hit the fan. Splattered. Jack showed up—not the Jack he knows, but real Jack—and the last swear-in became a real work of art. Add in this new stuff that fortunately hasn't affected Rhys on a personal level, and he's starting to miss Pandora.

An eensy bit. Not like, for real-real. He just had such high hopes for his life here! Sad to see them crashing down.]

So, I was thinking of taking a short vacay. You know, just to—not be here?

[Where all this stuff is happening. The weird/unpleasant stuff. ]

And I was wondering if anyone knew a nice vacation spot. I'm thinking something lowkey, maybe owned by an elderly couple? Price range...

[Thoughtful lip purse and shrug of one shoulder, then the other, then they level out. ]

San Francisco is pretty nice. Completely opposite side of the country from where you're living, too.

Right? All lies! They're a lot sharper than they look. But it was still a good vacation, if you like drinking and kitsch.

A vacation already? [ Zer0 is the type to get bored hanging around in one spot for too long, but they hadn't figured Rhys as the type.

Zer0 is also not the type to think that maybe recent events had something to do with wanting to take a quick vacation, because it's just business as usual. If someone isn't getting blown up, mutilated or slandered (or all three?) it's downright unnatural. ] Unfortunately/I can't think of anything./Good luck in your search.

I've heard that Maine has a ton of bed and breakfasts. I don't know if any are good, but at least one of them should be.

How much did the trip run ya?

There are smaller towns along the coast you could visit. But San Francisco's probably the easiest to get to.

I took a big cross country road trip last month, so I'd recommend any place between Colorado and California if you want it nice. Locally, anywhere on the east coast above Georgia isn't bad.

I bet the San Francisco here is totally fine. You're just mad it doesn't have robots everywhere.

First of all, San Fransokyo didn't have robots 'everywhere', just in the SFIT tech labs.

...But you're right, I was sad it wasn't home.

I vaguely remember staying at a motel around that area but it was okay. I don't remember anything horrible happening there.

But basically it sounds like you're looking for a bed & breakfast.

I'd probably feel the same way if I visited Piedmont. Or Gravity Falls.

I wonder if it even exists here.
