Do you truly believe we will be allowed to remain neutral players in this war? Regardless of all the outrage from our number, we are weapons in the eyes of this world, and have always been.

Up until now, the U.S. has had the privilege of exclusive access to that resource. Now that the Soviet Union is able to avail themselves of it as well, they will not be willing to give it up just because we don't "want" to fight. What reason would they have to do so? Morality isn't enough.

Honestly, a plan could not have been conceived and executed to this degree of sophistication in the ten days since that Russian child went missing. I wouldn't be surprised if they kidnapped her themselves in order to instigate this war.
