VIDEO Track 001
[ It took Peter a while to figure out the whole smartphone thing. To be fair though for him 'a while' was like... five minutes. Maybe six. Oh he still hadn't figured out EVERYTHING yet, but like the basics? Totally down. He had to fight the urge to try and take it apart and put it back together again. He had a feeling it was waaaay more complicated then the walkmans and arcade cabinets he pulled apart and tweaked. ]
This thing is so awesome... Like something outta a scifi flick or something...
[ There's a guy with a silver mullet and motorcycle goggles perched on his head on the screen. No really. Dude looks like he walked right outta the 80s. He pretty much did too. There's also an odd high pitched buzzing noise in the background. Technically it was music. A mix of Queen, David Bowie, Rush, and Pink Floyd. Not that most would notice. It was being plaid at like... several hundred times the normal speed. Luckily Peter notices he left his walkman on and he flips it off after a couple seconds. ]
Anyway, hey. Name's Peter Maximoff and it's come to my attention that it is the year 2016. Last I checked it was 1983. That means I'm missing out on 33 years worth of music and that's a damn tragedy. [Clearly that's his most important issue here now. ] So y'know. I need recs from all you future people! What's good? What sucks? I'm not too picky about genre but I gotta have music or I'll probably go crazy.
[ OK so really he's still worrying about his mom and his sisters and the kids at the Prof's school and other family issues that he just really doesn't wanna think aboutdaddy issues don't ask. So to keep his mind off things he's just gonna think about music and stuff because running more laps around the city really isn't helping him much. ]
Oh! And video games. There's gotta be like at least a dozen new versions of the Atari and ColecoVision by now, right?

Re: video & text
i'd get fired after the first day on the job. for writing a 20,000 word article on butts
i think i've got a little thinking to do too. besides just about butts. which usually takes up 80% off my thoughts anyways
let me know when you're almost there
Re: video & text
I'm two blocks away.
text
hey are you using the magnet thing to go zooming over on like a stop sign or anything?
that's what i would do
Re: text
And I'm one block away.
You can push me into the door, if you'd like.
text > action
[ He is, however, not above the looking awkward as all hell phase. It was easier to sound confident when he was typing things into the void. But now he's clearly nervous as he waits by the bar door, hands shoved into the pockets of that ridiculous silver jacket he wears forever no matter the the temperature.
There's still time to run away. There's always time to run away when it's him. ]
Re: text > action
Peter is... tall, and young, and healthy. Brave. Strong. And, despite what he keeps claiming, he's not at all a loser. And Erik doesn't know why he couldn't appreciate that before. The boy did spring his father out of jail. ]
After you.
action
He looks up and waves. He's nervous. Way more nervous then he'd been to face Ancient Ugly and Powerful. Which was stupid and ridiculous. ]
Been waiting here for ages you know.
[ He laughs as he makes his way inside. He had all the time in the world to think and he still doesn't really know what to say. ]
Re: action
How does that work, anyway? Do you slow down your speech? How slow do I sound?
[ It's probably maddening, and also probably why he's so easily bored. He can imagine what it's like to be completely alone, but he can't imagine what it's like to be surrounded by people and yet still completely alone.
There are other speedsters here, of course, and Erik thinks he might want to introduce Peter, make him some friends on his speed. ]
action
Think of it like a stereo with a broke volume knob. It's always blasting at full power and if you wanna turn it down you gotta make the effort to reach out and turn it, and hold it there. Cause the second you let it go again-
[ He seemingly disappears from the spot he's at and instantly is sitting on one of the bar stools. ]
-goes right back up to max. Never can turn it all the way down to normal people volume either. Everyone talks so slow. Moves so slow. You're faster then statues when I focus but no one's ever gonna not look like a turtle to me.
Re: action
[ And he means it, because he can turn his power on and off, and he never imagined what it would be like to have to feel everything around him all the time. His body filters it out like a sense, like having eyes focus on one thing at one time. ]
We can continue texting, if you want. It goes as fast as my thoughts -- still slow, but. Faster than my voice.
action
[ He laughs a little and spins on his stool. ]
And don't be sorry. I wouldn't trade my power for anything. I live in a world that you probably can't even dream of. You should see how I see the rain. [ Thousands of glass beads suspended in the air slowly slowly drifting down to the ground ] 'Sides it's not like it's your fault I got it or anything.
[ Except, in a way, it kinda of was. He pauses his spin with his back faced towards Erik. His dad. ]
You know, don't you? I asked Raven not to tell too.
Re: action
[ But his lips quirk up in a smile, even though he's super annoyed that Raven knew and didn't tell him. Promises be damned, she's Raven. ]
Billy and Wanda did, actually. Before you arrived. I'm sure you already know, they know you as Pietro.
I just want to know...
...Why didn't you tell me?
action
I was gonna. It's why I went to Cairo with everyone. I mean also to save the Prof and preferably hand big ugly a beatdown but yeah, you were the main reason. But well...
[ He sighs and shrugs. ]
The timing wasn't... well, I couldn't after hearing about everything. Wasn't right. And then I couldn't find a good opportunity after. I went over what I wanted to say probably half a million times and nothing ever really worked.
[ He runs a hand through his hair. It's him too, so he probably had the time to go over his speech at least that many times. ]
Was kinda afraid too.
Re: action
He asks: ]
Of me?
[ And takes a swig. That's the last thing Erik had wanted. To scare Peter. Or any of his children. And oh, they have all been so brave. Even facing down the worst, and Erik had failed. Two of them, and more, probably, with the multiverse. ]
action
Not of you. In the general sense that is. There's really not anyone I'm actually legitimately afraid of.
[ When most people can barely lay a finger on you unless you stay still enough to let them there's not much to be alarmed about. ]
It's of what you think, how you'll react. I'm basically just a stranger. Every time I play it in my mind I tell you I'm your son and I just imagine up the worst reaction and I can't handle it.
Re: action
Oh.
Erik puts his beer down and looks at Peter like he has just grown two heads. He's perplexed. How could he deny his son, even if he wasn't extraordinary?
Quick-- but probably, the slowest reaction that Peter can imagine, he reaches over and pulls him into a hug. And, though it doesn't last that long, it probably. Does. ]
Re: action
So it actually comes as a surprise he feels himself pulled into an embrace. He freezes scarcely believing it. ]
I... wasn't exactly expecting this.
[ God he sounds so lame. He has the excuse of being shellshocked at least. ]
Maybe a handshake... if I was lucky.
Re: action
You are my son.
[ And he pulls Peter in a little tighter, just for one second, before letting him go, backing away, showing one long row of teeth in hopes he can understand how he feels about him, about the situation. ]
And you punched Apocalypse in the face.
[ In case he's thinking that's the only reason Erik cares. ]
Re: action
He runs a hand through his hair and laughs softly. ]
Punched him the face a few times actually. Super fun until he got me.
Re: action
I'm proud of you.
[ Not just because he looked Apocalypse in the face and punched him, but because for awhile he embarrassed him, knocked him back from the God he believed he was to the demagogue he really was. ]
Even if you break convicted felons out of jail.
Re: action
Thanks.
[ And hey, he sure did wipe that smug ass expression off ancient ugly's face, didn't he? If only he had timed it with when the Professor was doing his funky mind battle. They might have flattened him together. Or not but it woulda been SO sweet. Not that seeing Jean descend like a fiery angel of vengeance wasn't also cool.
He laughs a little, shakes his head, finding his normal train of thought once again. ]
Just another folder for the popo to add to the file cabinet of stuff they suspected me of doing but couldn't actually prove. But seriously, breaking into the Pentagon? That was fun. Like I was James Bond but cooler and with better hair.
Re: action
Well. It's not dull here, that's for sure. I think you'd like that.
[ The actual. Reasons for why some of the stuff happens around here? Not so much. But he thinks Peter would probably take it in his very quick very long stride. ]
no subject
[ Like instead of playing games JUST in his house there's also the arcade. Speaking of games... He eyes the pool table in the corner. He's a little to old for catch but... He nods over to it. ]
Hey, you know how to play?
no subject
[ Quickly, he drinks the remainder of his beer. Unsurprisingly, there isn't much of it left. ]
Come on.
[ He claps Peter on the arm, makes his way over to the tables. ]
