He drops his backpack at his feet while Joel goes off to change, "accidentally" losing a few twenties from his pocket while he's at it. As he rises, he surreptitiously kicks them under the nearest piece of furniture and leaves them to be discovered later. Ellie's comment about money didn't escape him.
