[Jacob films this post while standing in front of the white walls of Helix Station in Maurtia Falls, wearing a navy-blue tank top and black shorts. Judging by the sweat visible on his arms, he just finished his exercise for the morning. His ramrod-straight posture projects an image of Official Business that doesn't match his casual tone of voice, or his workout clothes.]

Hey, everyone. I'm Jacob Taylor. I work with RISE: that's an imPort police team, for all you new arrivals out there. I'm putting together something new for the community... kind of a public safety resource. Like the FAQ, but focused on who's causing trouble these days.

So I thought I'd ask: what do you think are the biggest threats around here? Criminals, terrorists, the Soviets? Maybe there's something most of us haven't heard about yet that more people need to know about. It's important to be aware, especially when people might want you dead. There's always something happening under the surface around here.

Oh, and just so we're clear: this is going to be a list focusing on groups, not individual people. So don't bother talking about who your least favourite imPorts are.

[He pauses for a moment, then relaxes his posture as he segues into more civilian matters.]

That's about it for official business. Unofficially... I was wondering if anybody has got suggestions on a good name for a dog.

Unsurprisingly, they can't give testimony. [ cause they dead ] As the person who can give testimony, it naturally lies to me to do what must be done.

I guess the military life is almost like a full time job, huh? [It's a little sad to hear he couldn't have a dog before. He seemed like he'd be a very good owner.] But I'm glad you're getting the chance to now. Whoever you choose to be your loyal companion, be it girl or boy, will be happy to have you as a new friend. You're a good guy, Jacob!

[With that said, she will say one more thing:]

Goldy. I like it for a name. Short for golden. Flaxen if you want a cooler sounding name than a cute one.

It doesn't, doesn't it? I'm discovering a lot of similarities to computers here, and things back home in Cloudbank.

[It was honestly a bit disconcerting, really. Attached to the message is a picture though, of a rather unique looking dog stretched out on a couch, with her head in Red's lap.]

This is Luna.

"Thresher" sounds like something you're either sending out to work the fields, or would brutally attack anyone who gives it a second glance. I'd pass on that one.

"Champion" is cute. That's a good name for a dog.

Hey! She runs with us! Just because she's a little... large doesn't mean she isn't fit.

[ She's not fat, she's big boned ]

Yeah. Places for them to run around and meet other dogs... And for their owners to hang out, too. One of humanity's best inventions, if you ask me.

Good to meet you, Cullen. I'm Jacob- but I guess I already said that in the post, didn't I?

[Um excuse you he's not cute he's a very serious space marine who does serious things]

Mixed feelings, honestly. I think some of them are more legitimate than others. There's a lot of politics mixed up in the teams here. And a lot of people with a grudge against RISE for us doing our jobs.

Inquiry testimony is confidential, though. I couldn't tell you exactly what's bullshit and what isn't.

[Jacob shrugs, acting more unconcerned than he really is. After the fiasco with 'Agent Taylor,' Cerberus is a less well-healed scar than he wants it to be.]

It's fine. It's all out in public for anyone who wants to dig through the Network.

I was part of a survivalist group called Cerberus for two years back home. I told myself I was going outside the law to protect humanity. 'The greater good,' that kind of bullshit. Turns out there's a good reason people like that get called terrorists.

I appreciate it, but... let's just see how things pan out from here.

I'm not calling the dog 'Commander.' Shepard would probably think it's weird. I'd think it was weird.

It gets a lot more odd than that, where I'm from. I spent years working for someone who called himself 'the Illusive Man.' No other name, no short form. Just 'Illusive Man.'

[And so Jacob is once again confronted by his nemesis- the plethora of imPort universes featuring kids forced into apocalyptic circumstances. His face falls.]

Damn. That's... One of the worst things I've ever heard. I'm sorry.

Great. You're the hero we all deserve, Dorian. And I mean that.

[Dorian Gray: walking punishment for the imPort community's collective sins.]

Hey, the virus -- and the vampires and Horsemen, haven't entirely wiped us out yet. We're still here. Still fighting. It's what humanity does, right?

[It's not something Yuu talks about a lot. But with certain people when it has come up, he's opened up. Little by little. He hasn't even told Jacob the half of it. Not really. But it is a start.]

Not everyone wants to be responsible.

Exactly. Russians are stronger, but domestic enemies hit harder.

[Jacob catches the hesitation and pauses, wondering if he said something wrong.]

Uh. Is everything okay?

You'd think this would be a good time, but things are kind of on pause for us while we wait for the inquiry to wrap up. We don't know what RISE is going to look like once the recommendations get released. A lot could change for us.

That sounds like a good rule of thumb, though. I'm going to keep that in mind. I'll make sure to credit you if I end up using it.

It's a long list, but: regular space travel is probably at the top of it. We've made contact with lots of alien races. Most of them are friendly.

[Jacob can't help but chuckle at her earnest kindness.]

Cloudbank is the name of your world, I take it?

Funny you should say that- the name comes from a monster from my galaxy. They're kind of a giant worm. Brutally attacking is what they do.

But all right: one more vote for Champion. Seems like a name it would be hard to go wrong with.

[He respects the boy enough not to push it.]

But how about I come over sometime, and bring you a pizza? We can catch up a bit.

If you say so, Major. The sooner I've got my dog, the sooner we can put that to the test.

It'll be fun. Actually, seeing how well Mako has worked out for you and Shepard is one of the reasons I decided to take this on.

Right. So are there any domestic enemies you're particularly worried about these days? Anything you think RISE should be keeping on our scopes?
