Indeed, she speaks with her typical firm bubbliness - a cheerful, kindly tone and an adorably youthful London accent obscuring the fact that her speech is (as usual) a bit on the manipulative/calculating/forceful/aggressive side. ]

Hullo, all. First, a job offer. I run a charity garage. It does pretty good work - we fix up and build really, really good cars, and sell 'em to the richer members of the local populace, and then the proceeds go to fund public transit in Heropa. Anyway. I recently... [ Just a little flicker in her smile. ] Lost an employee. So if there's anyone out there who's good with cars or mechanics or whatever, I definitely want you.

[ And now to the less businesslike portion of her announcement: ]

Anyway. Obviously there's been a lot of talk of elections lately, and there's also been a lot of cynicism about the whole electoral process. For obvious reasons. Since there are some politicians who are lunatic idiots. So I guess I just wanted to throw this out there, 'cause all of you have so much different experience from different worlds.

Who had power, where you're from? What was the government like? And were they good - just - or unjust? What do you think's the best form of government? How much power should the people in charge have?

And if you could build a government, build a country from scratch, what would it look like? Would you limit the freedom of the press, or would everyone have the right to speak? Would you build social programs, or would you leave people to fend for themselves? Would you go after warfare and expanding your borders, or would people live in peace?

[ These questions are a little bit leading. Perhaps. ]

That sounds like an awfully good goal to have. Have you got a plan as to how you'll make that happen?

( It is good to be appreciated. Still, she sounds somewhat disgruntled as she responds. )

It is not a plan, as such. Or if it is, it has already been set in motion. I will be blunt. My world is at war. We are doing our best to look into the abuses where we are able, but there are more pressing matters at hand.

[ A little thoughtfully: ]

Is it a real war? [ And then, by way of explanation - ] Where I'm from, back in my world, my government would sometimes start wars, start fights, in order to have a reason not to deal with their abuses. It's actually a rather common tactic, I've found.

Indeed. ( Somewhat drily, she adds: ) One that is not unknown in my own world, either. Unfortunately, this is wider spread and more insidious than the squabbling of nations. As I said, there are more pressing matters at hand: if we are to fail, there will be no world left to fight over.

[ With a little blink of surprise - ]

What d'you mean? The other side is trying to destroy the world?

Yes. More or less, that is precisely what they are trying to do.

Some men would prefer to rule over nothing than allow for anyone else to hold power.

[ She bites her lip a moment, then asks, uncertainly: ]

Why?

That is a question I cannot answer for certain. I can only speculate, but no good can come from doing so.

[ A little dubiously,: ]

I don't know. I've always found that understanding someone is the first step to working with them - or, if they're an enemy, the first step to defanging and defeating them. Especially if you want to defeat them in a way that minimizes damage. Seems like a bit of good would come out of it.

This is true. Unfortunately, my own personal skills lie in different, more practical matters. There are members of our organisation who are researching our enemy and where he came from, never fear.

[ Hm. ]

Right. So what are your skills, then?

I am first and foremost a warrior, trained and specialised in sword and shield combat. Since I did my training with the Seekers of Truth, however, I have certain... abilities which are not accessible to the ordinary soldier.
