One of the most fascinating things I have discovered about this place is how easy it is to access information through a mere touch of a button. The internet for example: it can be a great tool. But it can also an incredible distraction.

[Yes, imPorts. Peggy has discovered funny cat videos and memes in her time here.]

Anyway, I wanted to open a discussion about what all of you have found interesting or fascinating about this place. I've always liked to know how others feel and learn about their perspectives. Especially when all of us come from different worlds and time periods. [She sounds amused for a moment.] I suppose that is another thing I find fascinating about this world - the people.

So if you have the time to indulge my question, please do. I could use the conversation.

Thank you for listening.

It's a little selfish, I suppose, but I think that aside from the people the most fascinating aspects of this world for me have to do with my own interests. Archaeology has made leaps and bounds in such a relatively short amount of time - although it's a bit amusing at the same time when what people consider the past here is still the future for me.

[amusing, but exciting as well. he's really sincerely thrilled to be able to have such a wide look at the future of a world so similar to his own.]

For me, it's really the people. I mean, I came from a world attacked by giant creatures, that responded to that threat with giant robots, so the tech here, while sleek, shiny and impressive, doesn't get me too hot and bothered. The Porter, maybe, but that's about it.

But here, we have imPorts from worlds with tech and discoveries that rival anything mine or this world had seen before. Our powers are fascinating--the mundane to the bizarre--and I'm curious how exactly they manage to manifest and how they manage to work on an individual level. Also, the non-human imPort population is pretty amazing--their unique cultures, their biology... I'd love to study them all.

And, I guess if we want to get into the realm of the sentimental--Powers aside, we're given a break from the regular world we live in. What we do here doesn't matter to us in the long run, so maybe it matters more, or allows for a certain level of self-discovery or exploration of interests or relationships we wouldn't otherwise have pursued and I, frankly, am enjoying that aspect most of all.

I find it interesting that the American government has been too incompetent to bring down Soviet Russia. It collapsed under economic stress in the last world I lived in. You'd think that might be something they could influence if they were worth a damn.

I suppose all that effort went into abducting people and imbuing them with destructive powers.

You're still quite a bit ahead of me - the year is 1889 at home. I've heard of people from even further back, so I suppose there's nothing particularly noteworthy about it.

Not particularly. I understand how it went from the last world I lived in, and I understand the outcome was quite similar in other versions of this place.

Dunces that these people are, they haven't attempted to make use of that information in some way.

If I didn't know any better, I would think they didn't want the conflict to end.

Oh, there was quite a bit going on that year! But most of it can be found in any history book without the need for a primary source.

[he's just giving himself some good-natured teasing without any sincere belief in his words, as evinced by the warm laugh that follows before he moves on to talk about something far closer to his heart: his family.]

I do, although I suppose it would be a stretch to say I 'knew' them at home. My great-grandson is here.

As I said before, economic collapse.

By and large, only in comic books, children's stories, and movies.

Quite a few members of my family have passed through this world. It's the most wonderful blessing that I could ever have imagined.

[there's nothing in any world that could be better than being given the privilege to know the people who would come after him. even the sting of their return home couldn't overshadow that.]

Josuke's a wonderful boy. He has one of the biggest hearts I've ever seen, and almost enough energy to match. And he's quite a big more stylish than I am as well.

[he laughs]

I really do love him.

Oh, absolutely not! I don't think that we'd feel nearly as warmly towards each other if that were the case.

[especially with Jonathan's acquisition of his brother's stand and the underlying tension that's caused between Josuke and the apparition. but Jonathan's laughter now is full of harmless amusement; no reason to delve into that sort of thing with a stranger.]

We're on the same block, though, which is just close enough to pop in whenever we feel like it. I'm quite grateful for that.
