One of the most fascinating things I have discovered about this place is how easy it is to access information through a mere touch of a button. The internet for example: it can be a great tool. But it can also an incredible distraction.
[Yes, imPorts. Peggy has discovered funny cat videos and memes in her time here.]
Anyway, I wanted to open a discussion about what all of you have found interesting or fascinating about this place. I've always liked to know how others feel and learn about their perspectives. Especially when all of us come from different worlds and time periods. [She sounds amused for a moment.] I suppose that is another thing I find fascinating about this world - the people.
So if you have the time to indulge my question, please do. I could use the conversation.
Thank you for listening.

[amusing, but exciting as well. he's really sincerely thrilled to be able to have such a wide look at the future of a world so similar to his own.]

But here, we have imPorts from worlds with tech and discoveries that rival anything mine or this world had seen before. Our powers are fascinating--the mundane to the bizarre--and I'm curious how exactly they manage to manifest and how they manage to work on an individual level. Also, the non-human imPort population is pretty amazing--their unique cultures, their biology... I'd love to study them all.
And, I guess if we want to get into the realm of the sentimental--Powers aside, we're given a break from the regular world we live in. What we do here doesn't matter to us in the long run, so maybe it matters more, or allows for a certain level of self-discovery or exploration of interests or relationships we wouldn't otherwise have pursued and I, frankly, am enjoying that aspect most of all.

I suppose all that effort went into abducting people and imbuing them with destructive powers.

I especially find the last part interesting because I have been able to experience things here that I may not have been able to back home. Developed bonds with remarkable people and helped to better their lives by being there for them. I won't pretend that I do not think of home on occasion, but I can't do anything about that.
What I can do is live in this world and take each day as it comes.
Would you agree that the positive aspects of this place outweigh the negatives? Or is it not as simple as that?
voice;
Can I ask what year or time period you come from? It was 1946 for me before I arrived in this place.

[She doesn't always understand the government's reasons for things.]
Are you concerned about another possible conflict arising between this government and Soviet Russia? I only ask because you seem to have a good understanding of the situation.
Voice
Dunces that these people are, they haven't attempted to make use of that information in some way.
If I didn't know any better, I would think they didn't want the conflict to end.
no subject
What about people you know from home? Do you have anyone?
Voice
[Peggy didn't enjoy thinking like that, but she couldn't help it. She has bee burned before.]
I won't pretend to understand the logic of the government officials in this place, if they even have any at all. [She's critical to say the least.]
How did it end in your world?
no subject
[he's just giving himself some good-natured teasing without any sincere belief in his words, as evinced by the warm laugh that follows before he moves on to talk about something far closer to his heart: his family.]
I do, although I suppose it would be a stretch to say I 'knew' them at home. My great-grandson is here.

[Like him, Peggy was close to her family. She hadn't seen her parents for quite some time and it hurt. ]
What is he like?
voice
[It wasn't her intention to make him repeat himself.]
Tell me more about what your world is like. Does it have superheroes or people with powers?

[there's nothing in any world that could be better than being given the privilege to know the people who would come after him. even the sting of their return home couldn't overshadow that.]
Josuke's a wonderful boy. He has one of the biggest hearts I've ever seen, and almost enough energy to match. And he's quite a big more stylish than I am as well.
[he laughs]
I really do love him.

Then I am glad to hear that you have gotten to know him over the past while. I'm sure he feels the same in return.
[There's a smile in her voice.]
Do you live together?
no subject
[especially with Jonathan's acquisition of his brother's stand and the underlying tension that's caused between Josuke and the apparition. but Jonathan's laughter now is full of harmless amusement; no reason to delve into that sort of thing with a stranger.]
We're on the same block, though, which is just close enough to pop in whenever we feel like it. I'm quite grateful for that.
