Are there any reliable statistics around this place? Such as how many ImPorts there are? Who are the strongest?

And what are your reasons for not registering, if you decided against that?

[It's midnight at the time and place that they arranged, but as of yet there's no sign of Gemini, although she is in fact there, one of a number of broken old crates, waiting for the mercenary to appear...]

[The bounty hunter is on time and he arrives stealthily; quietly, yet he's clearly not nervous. He strides forward with confidence, a wrapped package under his arm that appears to be the correct size and shape to be the requested Monet painting. He's come to this meeting as his usual self - that is to say the Duros alien with blue skin, crimson red eyes and obvious alien features. He's a bit over six feet tall and slender, even with the long coat and extra bulk of attachments at his arms. His face is partially obscured by his wide-brimmed hat. He halts, tapping his foot as if a bit impatient as he waits for his client to make an appearance.]

The government may be the only ones who have completely reliable statistics regarding ImPorts, but good luck getting them to share.

I've been both registered and unregistered during my time here. I'm currently unregistered because I have little desire to work under a government that wants to use ImPorts for their own purposes.

Have you been forced to do something for them?

Not yet, but I have been on the receiving end of their questionable justice.

[Gemini watches the figure as he appears, noting the confidence in his posture and the attachments on his arms. Weapons perhaps? Probably, but she could only speculate, either way it all adds up to this alien being potentially very dangerous. Solidifying into human form she drops down soundlessly from the roof behind him, her eyes fixed on what must be the painting.]

I'm impressed how little time this took you, you have the item I see.

[She opens a hand for it, barely able to keep the thirst she felt for the precious painting out of her expression.]

For something that you did that they deemed to be wrong?

[Bane turns, not at all flustered by her entrance. Noting her expression, his arm holds on to the covered package even tighter, refusing for now to give it up.]

[The capricious part of her is so very tempted to double cross him, but the whole point of this exercise was to find a reliable sub-contractor, and picking a fight now would throw that plan out of the window. So she squishes that instinct and instead smiles politely.]

[She turns her hand over, and much like a magician she's suddenly holding a credit card, which she proffers to him.]

Did you have any trouble with the guards?

Not so much... What's this?

[He questions about the card, looking it over critically. It's not what he had been expecting.]

In and out without trouble hmm? That's what I like to hear.

[The question has her raising an eyebrow, until she realises that they probably don't have credit cards wherever he's from.]

It's your money. The pin's 6420 and the account's untraceable. Now, my painting?

[He eyed her for a moment with those crimson alien eyes. He was only going to give her the benefit of the doubt because he thought it was probably easy enough to track her down later if she wasn't telling the truth.]

There wasn't too much trouble, no. Not for me.

[Of course implying that somebody else might not have been able to produce the goods. He held out the package. The painting was indeed inside.]

Maybe we can do business again.

I worked with a group of ImPorts to help fight organized crime and corruption in Maurtia Falls. We ended up being targeted by the government, and several of us were arrested. Apparently, that particular brand of vigilantism was inconvenient for them.

[Those eyes are hard to read but he seems satisfied to Gemini, and that's good enough for her.]

I was. All things considered, I got off with what amounted to a slap on the wrist compared to my unregistered comrades.

I imagine that it's a little of both. We operated out of Maurtia Falls, and its government is famously corrupt.

So I see.

[She's absorbed in the package he's given her for the moment, slicing a subtly sharpened finger down the wrapping so that she can see the painting.]

[She answers absently, lost admiring the painting. She's already working out where to put this on her penthouse wall.]

[Not one for small talk, the bounty hunter goes on.]

[The expression as he turns back is deadly serious, even mildly offended. His words crisp and plain.]

[She says with a satisfied smile, and with that she turns, walking away with silent steps until she vanishes altogether, off to enjoy hanging her prize.]
