I work at the Van Don't Gogh Art Shoppe. I could have let myself think that it was some sort of reference to van Gogh's ear. But..

[She holds up another portrait, with the words 'cut off her other one and send her home']

This clearly says her. And with the scars drawn on the necks, and all the other stuff that's going on, I know they mean me. There were more. Pretty much any piece of art with a face got painted on.

[She won't show the ones that said 'murderer' or 'cannibal'.]

I spent a long time, back home, being told that I would have a new life. A better life. But I didn't. Not there.

I thought this was my new life. Here.

[She shakes her head.]

I don't know anymore. Everything feels so messed up.

I see that you have been affected by the recent vandalism as well.

Are such things truly thought to be so unusual in this world? From everything that I have observed since arriving here, it would seem that these events and worse are rather commonplace.

[D33 recognizes that Abigail is upset, but even if some deeply buried part of him does want to console the girl, he simply doesn't know how to do so aside from using logic. Needless to say, he's not exactly the most comforting person to have around in a crisis.]

You should throw those out. Don't listen to them.

It's not unusual to have bad things happen. This isn't as dangerous as some of the other stuff. It just feels worse. More personal. I don't want to be hated. And I don't want to go back.

The missing ear and the scar are from before I came here, yeah. I usually cover them up but in all the craziness that happens here, there were a few times that people have seen them.

It's about the locals wanting us to go home. I guess they might get caught, especially if they keep vandalizing our stuff.

I can't get sent back.

Find a way to live with it. There's nothing else I can do.

My boss talked to the police and he's putting in a better security system, so that's something.

Their sentiments do seem to be of a personal nature, I understand. However, I would hardly take what any of the natives have to say to heart.

They tend to be imbeciles.

It seems to me that other imPorts and the events triggered by them should be of much more concern than the incessant complaining of the natives.

They blame us for our transgressions and demand that we return home without considering that none of us were asked to be brought here in the first place.

Yeah, no one's hurt me. I don't think anyone's been hurt by the vandals. Not yet.

They blame us for stuff we didn't do. Or at least not all of us did. Some of us just want to live our lives now that we can.

It's human nature. Back home, people blamed me for my dad. And yeah, it's ludicrous.

Only if it could stop them.

Not just me, all of us. They're blaming us for the things some imports did. And they blame us for the damage that happens when the strange things happen here.

Well, as I've said, such thinking is unintelligent and illogical at best and positively absurd at worst. If anything, it would appear to me that it is the ImPorts being targeted in regard to these events.

If the natives are genuinely too stupid to recognize who is truly responsible, than that only further proves that they are not worth our time.

[Or our protection, he thinks, bitterly remembering those that have pledged to be heroes in order to protect them. Fools, the lot of them.]

No one that would do this.

I think the vandals just saw my ear and my scar and decided to be jerks.

We're stuck with them though. It might get worse.
