{6th Demon; video}

Tch. I mean, I already hated August with....things that happened back home. Okay, and December, but. Point is, this place doesn't need to add to it with these assholes stealing everyone's stuff or doing the graffiti nonsense. At least so far I haven't heard of anyone actually getting hurt during this, but I dunno if that's only a matter of time.

[It might be. But still. This is....would be around when a certain someone would be having their birthday. Guren. He's not sure if he wants to bring that up or not. Yuu sighs, running a hand through his mop of hair before resting his cheek in said hand as he lowers it, pouting at the camera.]

Speaking of time though. I still think it's weird. I've been here....over a year now. I'm almost eighteen here, if we go by the dates. Today, the 28th, would be...one of my family, it'd be their birthday. But it isn't like I can do anything from here for him. I haven't been able to do anything for anyone's birthday except the people here. People I met here or people from home.

[It isn't like he'd...actually admit to everyone that he misses Guren. That he misses Shinoa and her teasing. Right? He wasn't always this damned sentimental or whatever. But since being apart from everyone for so long, he realizes how much he might have taken for granted. How much he does want to celebrate all this with them. Guren and his squad, alongside Mika. Alongside Krul if she would deign to grace them with her presence.]

Ah, he'd probably just complain over whatever I would have gotten him anyway. Or muss up my hair even more. It's not like he or any of the others even realize I'm 'gone' anyway, dammit.

[And with that, his fingers hit at his phone for the button to end the feed as he just gets himself frustrated again.]

[As much as it bothers him to hear Yuu talk about his family, as if Mika isn't the only remaining family he has...He understands why Yuu needs to. He always got lonely easily.]

Do you want to talk?

[Mika is the last of their original little orphan family. It's just that Yuu's has expanded to his squad, to Guren. And therefore maybe be extension, Shinya, Mito, Goshi, Shigure and Sayuri too. He sighs, glancing over to the blond through his mess of bangs as he closes his eyes. Hair shifting with a huff of breath.]

...I dunno. It's not like Guren's here is the first birthday I would have missed. Shinoa's and the others, I've missed at least one of each of theirs. Not that it matters since back home it's like we never left, but.

[August is always tougher for him anyway, even without being homesick, without the vandals, what with this being the month everything changed when his parents tried to kill him and all.]

[That mess of dark locks simply invites people to ruffle it. Mika is no different, even though he chooses to simply cups Yuu's head, letting his hair run through his fingers.]

You miss them.

I'm not some kid missing his dad or something.

[But it's still true nonetheless. It's been so long since Yuu last saw them. Any of them, besides Mika and Krul. Not that he isn't grateful for the familiar faces, or the friends he has made here, but it isn't quite the same without the rest being with him too. He does miss them. Especially on days like today, when there's a birthday or holiday he misses on celebrating, or in theory anyway.]

Is that so.

[He smiles lightly, stroking his cheek with his thumb. Fine, Yuu isn't a kid, but he's allowed to miss people. Even if Mika can't stand Guren he understands that Yuu looked up to the man. He just can't understand why.]

I'm sure he knows you're thinking of him.

I'm sorry you're missing someone. Maybe you can make a new family here.

[If not for Guren, Yuu would probably have died, scavenging for food and trying to avoid the Horsemen, the vampires when they would come to the surface for their missions. The stroke of Mika's thumb has him lift his gaze briefly at least, up to meet those deep red eyes.]

Maybe. I dunno what the story is with him anymore. What you said about Nagoya.....

You know, just cause someone isn't here, it doesn't mean we can't celebrate their birthday. I mean, we are living in an alternative universe, right? How can we be certain a version of him isn't somewhere in this world?

[She noticed the pout on his face and tone of voice; it was clear he wasn't feeling his usual self. It wouldn't be a lie to admit over feeling curious over the issues with August and December were.

But, for now she will let it slide just to get the chance to try and cheer him up a little.]

I'm glad to see you're okay though. No one has been messing with you guys, right?

Finding him or any of the others would mean going to Japan though. Even if I did, I'd need to come back here eventually, the way these guys keep tabs on us.

[On imPorts. All of them, even those Registered. It's true though that Yuu had been debating on whether to eventually have a trip there at some point. To see it without the Horsemen, the vampires having taken over.]

Ah, there's some graffiti on the walls outside. But I guess the apartments are a little more secure, cause they haven't gotten in at least. What about your place? You alright?

[He's just. Not going to admit or deny on missing Guren, or any of the others for that matter. Not in so many words, at least. But...making a new family, well.]

I have. Or, as close to. But it still isn't the same without the others here too. Even if Mika is here. Krul too. I hadn't actually met her back home, but. She helped him.

[Kept Mika alive while they were separated. Yuu owes Krul for that much at least.]

Some things can never be the same again. You find ways to live with it.

[Mika nods, wisely not commenting on what he really feels about Guren. It's hard to control who a person grows attached to, and Mika blames himself a bit. If he had only been there for him, warned him in time, perhaps Yuu wouldn't be so starstruck by his precious Guren.]

If he shows up here again, you can ask him.

...As long as he's unarmed.

Last time he was trying to ignore me though. When he showed up. And...well maybe if it was just me he wouldn't care on being unarmed.

[Guren doesn't know or necessarily trust Mika or Krul so much, obviously. So Yuu isn't sure his superior might be as comfortable on that front. Not right away, at least. But still. It's true though that Guren was the one that took Yuu in and the only one that gained Yuu's trust initially in the aftermath of his escape from Sanguinem.]

I don't know why he did that.

["if it's just him", he says. Mika can't believe how trusting Yuu is. It's frightening how easy it would be to betray him.]

I can't trust him, Yuu-chan. I know you care about him, but he... worries me.

Probably because he didn't want to talk to me about Nagoya. What you told me happened there. But that wasn't him, that was -- he was possessed or something, right? So I know he wouldn't really hurt me otherwise.

[More minor scrapes and injuries aside, from when Guren trained him and all, anyway. Yuu is certain on that. Even knowing that Guren might be using him. Not caring, if that means he is useful somehow. If that might be what it took to get Guren to help him reunite with Mika again once he knew the other was alive.

....He still hasn't actually told Mika about his offering himself on that front. Mostly because it hasn't really been relevant since they were together here and all, but also in that he could just hear Mika lecturing him over it.]

Ways to live with it. You'd think after being here so long, I'd be used to this. And after -- after escaping Sanguinem back home too.

[Though that isn't quite the same. Then, he saw his orphan family slaughtered in front of him. As far as he knows, Guren and his squad were still alive back home. He is just separated from them and unsure when they might see each other again.]

It's harder for you to get used to it, because the person you're missing didn't escape?

I think about that a lot too, why I got this second chance at life and others didn't.

No. Guren took me in after I escaped.

[But. Well, there is the matter of Mika telling him about Ferid having Akane's head and all....so. It's actually possible that they might be resurrected back home. At a cost. Or show up here, from before Ferid attacked them when they tried to escape. Yuu can't help the shiver that runs up his spine at that.]

But you're right. It's always easy to wonder 'why' or 'what if'.

That's a good thing, right? He might be okay back where ever he is.

The point is that he hurt you anyway. It doesn't matter if he was possessed.

[Yuu is far too forgiving of people hurting him in Mika's opinion. He doesn't want him to regret it or end up losing faith in humanity because of it.]

Of course it matters. Just like I know you wouldn't have meant to almost attack me, when you were thirsty, right? It's...what, context or whatever. That's important.

[Or. It is to him. Though, Yuu being Yuu, he'd probably still want an explanation even if Guren wasn't possessed at the time when he stabbed him. Though it's up to Guren of course if he wants to provide more detail, especially given Yuu doesn't remember it himself and all.]

That's different! That's... That's...

[Mika's shoulders sag, feeling uncomfortable. He'd never willingly attack Yuu over blood and the thought makes his heart heavy with guilt. But that is the point Yuichiro is trying to make, isn't it? Mika takes a deep breath, looking at the ground.]

You know I'd do anything to keep from hurting you.

And so would Guren. I'm sure. So it does matter, Mika. He wasn't himself then. The same way you weren't when you said I first helped you out there.

[Is the explanation and comparison he's trying to make, even if perhaps Guren's whole namanari deal isn't...quite the exact same thing as a vampire suffering from starvation. The same basics apply in that neither were exactly in control, really. But he hadn't meant to upset Mika like this either.

Which is why Yuu raises his hands, cupping Mika's cheeks and raising his head a little.]

I don't blame either of you. I know you wouldn't hurt me on purpose, Mika. It's okay.

I don't know. Last I remember, a vampire noble had caught him. And Mika said he wasn't sure what happened to Guren after the battle at Nagoya.

[Where Guren was possessed by his demon and had stabbed Yuu. Guren showing up here, briefly, hadn't provided any answers given how he'd avoided Yuichiro. So Yuu can't help but worry.]

[Mika looks up at him in silence, his point received. He simply doesn't like the comparison, considering that he steadfastly believes that Guren is using him.]

[But Yuu... He trusts Yuu's heart and his faith in people. The only thing he questions is his friend's brain. So he touches his hand gently, holding his gaze.]

I know you believe in him. I just... worry.

I know you do. And I guess I can't just automatically expect that you'll both get along, but. If he does show up, I'm not sure.

[Not sure how he might react to Yuu now. Not sure what that might mean living arrangement wise, since he's not expecting Guren and Krul to get along, even if Guren might manage to tolerate Mika for Yuu's sake at least. But Guren had shown up before. So there was always the chance.]

[Mika takes a deep breath. He knows when he has lost, but he's still dragging his heels. Plus he knows Yuu misses the others and he can't very well kick him while he's down.]

I will give him one chance. But only one.

That's all we'd need!

[Yuu grins, unable to help the relief in spite of his own niggling worry on if anyone else from home might show up. Let alone Guren or Shinoa squad. How they might react to Yuu's decision to be turned. Or being with Mika like this, even if they haven't actually done more than kissing still.]

Oh, I'm sorry.

[As worried as he is about Guren's intentions, it makes it worth it to see how relieved Yuu is. Mika gets it despite not wanting to. His friend wants his family with him. And, although it hurts to think about, Yuu's family now includes more than Mika.]

[He can't blame Yuu for any of this, though. People are drawn to him. That's just how it is. But Mika's determined to protect him just in case.]

We can take a trip to the swear in to see if there are any familiar faces there. How does that sound?

One is enough. But yeah. That's part of the reason I try show up at least for a bit to the Swear In. That and you know. Something often goes wrong somehow. So I like to be there to help out if I can.

[He doesn't have the free food excuse anymore. Not now that he has been turned, but still. This much is enough. Knowing Mika is willing to give him a chance. To help him keep an eye out if any of the others might show up. He'd ask on Mika's end but he isn't sure the other really made friends among the vampires during their time they were separated.]

Something always seems to go wrong.

[Someone always gets hurt in the chaos. Someone always cut themselves or bleeds in some way. That reminds Mika of Yuu's green eyes. He hasn't had human blood yet, and Mika doesn't want him to turn too soon.]

We should probably.... have a drink a drink before it. Just in case.

I know. That's part of why I go, to help in case. But I try make sure I'm ready.

[It's tougher, those crowded gatherings. To keep control. To not lose it and potentially attack someone when surrounded by humans in such large numbers. So he tries to make sure he feeds prior to heading out that morning. Being as prepared for it as he can be, anyway.]

It's okay. It's not your fault. I just -- it's just frustrating that I'm still not sure what happened with him.

[At least, for now. He'd find out eventually though, right? By Guren showing up again or by Yuu himself ending up going back home to play catch up of sorts.]

I know. I can't travel outside the country like normal imPorts could unless given special permission to do so.

[One of the downsides in choosing to go against the government, but she wasn't going to allow herself become anyone's weapon of war. She made a promise to never use the most destructive aspect of her powers. She was going to keep it, no matter what, even if it may mean defying another world to do so.]

That's why, in times of peace, I think you and Mika should plan the trip to visit this world's version of your home. To explore and get reacquainted with your culture again. It could be a good experience to have. May even help with your homesickness a tiny bit.

[She figures it may be something Yuu needs to slowly grow from the traumas his world forcefully pushed onto him. Not his world, but those living within it. She is certain his world had nothing to do with the issues between two species.]

That's good to hear. I'm glad nothing worse has happen. I don't really want Mika or Krul to lose control, you know. The last thing I want to hear is anyone getting hurt.

[Mainly she is worried they could let their anger and strength get the better of them. Krul, especially. It was clear she was the type to have no issues harming humans if they offend her.]

Um, I'm okay. I've been using my powers to protect the area of the manor I live in during the day while those living in the area have been helping out at night. Or as best as they can.

[It hasn't stopped some of the natives from vandalizing the gate and walls. Some have thrown used toilet paper onto the garden. But other than those issues, Nike is simply thankful it hasn't escalated further.]

You mean like Registered imPorts. I know the rest are more restricted.

[He's been half debating for a while. Whether the perks were worth it. Even if he accepts and expects if war does happen, if the fighting escalates, that he'd be called up for it. It isn't like he hasn't fought before. But it would be different here, against humans. Unleashing his powers, his newfound vampirism against them.]

Something to think about and ask Mika, I guess. I'd need to look into it on his end though. If we even could, with him not being registered.

[Still. There's always, always the threat of losing control. If a vampire loses track of their feeding, or is cut off from their supply of blood somehow. At least, as stubborn as Yuu is, he's terrified enough of becoming a demon that he has been feeding regularly.]

I try help Mika and keep an eye on them where I can, at least. But that's good, Nike. I'm glad you're safe at least. If you need help cleaning up or anything, let me know.

[Apartments being more secure hasn't meant he was impervious, just that the vandals graffitied the outside walls. But he hasn't really wanted to draw attention on that or worry anyone when others have it worse.]

Huh? Mika isn't registered neither?

[As much as she shouldn't be surprised, she sorta is because that does put damper on any plans to travel to Japan which was outside the US. Nike has done some research concerning aspects of this world. All for research in gaining a better connection to the atmosphere and world, in general. But, in all seriousness, she really shouldn't be surprise over Mika'a decision considering he had such a mistrust for humans. If it had to do with being a vampire or bad experience, she can't really say.]

I guess I can always ask Lord Vorkosigan about it. He should be an expert. More so than Kaneki and Kanaya.

[A smile will appear at the thought of Yuu looking after Mika as much as Mika does the same for him. It really does warm her heart to know those details. No matter how small it may seem to other people.]

Likewise. You know you can always count on me for anything, right? Let me know if you need help cleaning up too. As for me, I really do appreciate the offer. I may just use it soon. I know I'll have to hire someone to fix the gate, but I'll need help repainting the walls and cleaning up the front garden too.

[She can't say if anyone will attempt to attack the house directly or any of the grassland area. Very little know about her plans to build a Bed & Breakfast place in the manor she was living in. Only those working for her do along with some of the local natives she is still negotiating on a few key items of interest. She really is trying to build her business off the ground without using her or the owner's reputation.]

[Who even calls themselves lo--oh wait. Yeah. Some of the higher ups back home. But that just makes them sound all fancy and pretentious, more than anything. At least as far as where Yuu is concerned. Titles weren't something he really paid attention to. And that likely showed more than anything in his lack of using honorifics.]

Well. I dunno on fixing the gate, but the rest I could help with easily enough. Just tell me when to show up.

I bet he didn't, knowing him. Oh, yeah, he's a lord back in his world, I do believe. But in this world, he is one of our imPort ambassadors. This one in particular is trying to help all the unregister imPorts have more freedom and rights. That's how I got the big mansion outside of De Chima to live in. He wants me to make a business out of it.

[Which she has been slowly working on over the past few months. Her job as a television weather girl got in the way of its progress, but now that that aspect of her life was over she was now fully dedicating her time to it. In getting it up and ready and open.]

Okay! I'm counting on you, Yuu. Maybe you can even sleep over in my house. It'll be great if we can watch a movie or something together. [And just as she says that, she quickly points out.] Drag Mika along too! I want him over too. I think we may need both of your super strengths to carry the gate out at the very least if we're gonna replace it or not.

Oh, the ambassador guys. Right. Huh....though that's true. There's more restrictions on imPorts that aren't registered, so if he can help with that, it'd be good. Not all of us that aren't registered are criminals or whatever, necessarily.

[Still. He's now curious on the mansion but this doesn't seem like the time to prod her about it.]

Exactly! A grand majority of us simply don't want to be used and manipulated into war without knowing all the facts first and foremost.

[Even if she had all of the facts, she would still decline joining an army. Like hell she'll become anyone's weapon or pawn. She has more self-respect than that. Just like Mika does too.]

No, don't ask him. You're going to drag him over! If he isn't with you by nightfall, then I'll pull him over here by the ears!

[And...she ain't kidding about it neither. She really wants Mika around too. Bonus points if Krul is somehow included in the count too.]

[Yuu probably hadn't even initially considered that possibility when he registered. But then. He was in the military back home so this wouldn't be new? Even if he was called to fight.]

[Well. He did offer. But Mika wasn't being equated into this immediately. Though then again, the two were inseparable enough that she probably expected him to show up with Yuu anyway by default.]
