can anyone tell me about halloween? i'm seeing a lot of stuff about but i don't get it. what are the outfits and decorations for?

Well it's a spooky holiday where kids (the lucky bastards,) go door to door trick or treating & get free candy. Adults either dish it out or host parties, consoling themselves over the lack of free candy by getting drunk and wearing questionable costumes.

It's all about the costume game, man.

I've no idea. I think we get to dress up in human form and get free food. Or you can, at least. I think mine is too tall.

Don't quote me on specifics but I think the costumes used to be to scare off evil spirits, same with lighting bonfires outside. Only we don't really do the fire thing anymore, it's mostly a kids holiday nowadays. Unless Jack-o-lanterns count? People carve pumpkins and leave them on their doorstep.

[Between explaining this and trying to tell D33 why people do weird and wacky things to celebrate their birthdays, Peter's realizing a lot of tradition is just weird and hard to explain. It's just something... you do, question it and suddenly he has no idea why.]

Dude, go for it! All you need is a costume if you want free candy.

There'll probably be parties to go to all of next month. And candy corn. Do it for the candy corn.

Halloween is the best holiday of the year, don't let anyone tell you differently. Avoid the "sexy __" costumes, though, only people with no creativity wear those.

Also don't listen to the guy up there, candy corn is a travesty. Candied apples is where it's at.

It's for stores to make money selling costumes and candy.

People have fun with it too. It can be good to pretend to be someone else for a night and kids like candy.

There's a lot of ideas for costumes on the internet here, I'm sure. Classic movie monsters are always acceptable, though.
You planning on going to some parties?

Literally anything can be candied at this point. I've seen bacon and bugs, too.

I'm already thinking of costumes. Candy is really good! It's one of the nicer tasting things you humans have made.

i'm gonna have to do a lot of research on this but i think i'm going to like it! i think i'm gonna do the going to houses thing and then try out parties. do you know any that are happening? or is it too early?

oh i will, dont worry! ive been to a few parties and they were fun. next morning not so much, but still price to pay is worth it.

Yeah, hangovers are the worst, I try not to drink that much. [ also because she doesn't like losing control. ]

I've had grasshoppers before. They're not that bad. Crunchy. I'll let you know if I ever try them candied, though.
