I learned how curse words work from Veronica. She told me that combinations of two different swears is more effective, as long as it made sense. So for example, fuckmother wouldn't work, but motherfuck would. Noun-verb works, but verb-noun wouldn't. Noun-noun tends to also work more often than not.
