[ He has been learning as much as he possibly can about this world, the diversity in it and some of what is keeping the population, native and non-native alike, on a single planet. Assigning work seems to be meant as a demeaning tactic. The silly play on words isn't lost on him, but it wouldn't be the first time he'd had to start over at the ridiculed bottom.

He is not used to this kind of technology, but he has been learning about it quickly. So there is still a longer than usual pause between when the very distinctive blue-skinned face appears on screen and when he begins talking. ]

I had not intended to make an address so soon. But rather than floundering about on my own, it seemed to make more logical sense to see what others who have gone before me have done. While I have gathered there is no way to completely reverse the gaining of a 'power', what means have proven the most effective for controlling it?

[ The voice is calm, cool and always quiet. Everything about him would likewise be cool if not for his glowing red eyes. Red schlera and red iris. They make a sharp contrast to the rest if his skin. That contrast is what probably accounts for the optical illusion that his gaze is that much more penetrating. ]

[There was no mistaking who this was. Hux had seen plenty of holorecords left behind after Jakku to know exactly who this was. Out of all the Imperials that could have arrived, at least it was someone who competent.]

It has taken a great deal of practice to begin mastering my own abilities, it hasn't been easy.

[ The fact he is being addressed by his imperial rank tells him that this person is at least familiar with that. Judging by their species they appear to be human. ]
I am not expecting ease. If the only way to become accustomed to them is time and practice, then I may have something of a problem.

Actually, I do recognize your name. The name 'Hux' has been of interest since the Clone War.

[ Yes singular. While he studied it as a whole he picked up on subtle cues that indicated it was actually one large conflict. Call it an old habit. ]

The problem I have acquired is a completely random and unwanted viewing of an object's history. It can be something as mundane and useless as a soup spoon and whom ever was the last to wash it.

I do not have the luxury of time.

Discipline and education are the most crucial factors, in my experience. Strong will and a keen mind are required to make the most of any talent.

[For now he appears as a human, but that doesn't prevent any ID from coming up with his actual names, if people are looking out for that sort of thing.]

That would be my father, Brendol Hux.

[He's surprised that Thrawn would know of his father from such an early time but he knew his father had been developing his own training programs during that time.]

I understand. My own ability manifests physically so I've been able to better control it with work.

It is tactile and can become activated on contact. The problem then becomes that I do not know when it may occur.

Many of us have to deal with these... changes. Whether unwanted or unexpected, we must adapt and use them to their best advantage. They should have some purpose.

That is my analysis as well. The problem comes from my lack of practice and therefore lack of control.

No. It is simply tactile. Activated by touch.

[ 'simply'. Seeing who last washed a soup spoon is really distracting. In fact Thrawn can't control it at all and is being assaulted with random bits of sensory input far more often than he is admitting. ]
