So. For those of you who have a tattoo or tattoos, how did you decide what to get and where? I'm kinda considering it but I haven't decided yet on what I want. Or where.

Maybe matching with a friend? I dunno. But it seems like everyone's calmed down from Halloween celebrations and all.

[Mika can't help it: his voice carries the faint surprise and wonder he feels at Yuu's suggestions.]

The day you came to the orphanage?

Yeah. I mean. It's a significant date. A lot changed then.

[Yuu was free from being experimented on, met Mika and the other kids. Not that he remembers the experiments, that gap from August through till December.]

Back home, then. I know it's kinda confusing with the dates here.

It is. Even with all the terrible things that came after.

An 'H' sounds nice, too. It reminds me of our family.

Well, significant for us, anyway. I'm still not sure I remember my old surname. But I guess that's true for a lot of kids back home. I like 'Hyakuya'. I was figuring maybe something small. Like the wrist or a smaller one on my back or something. Doesn't have to be a huge tattoo or anything fancy.

It doesn't matter who we were before we got there. Hyakuya was family. I'd gladly get that on my skin.

[There's a pause there, as if he's not sure of whether it's wise to say so.]

If I had to get one. What were you thinking of for your back?

Yeah. And -- I dunno. I wasn't thinking anything huge. Just debating what I'd want or where. The back would be less obvious? So I guess it depends how visible we want it. I mean, even somewhere like the wrist, that's easy to hide if we wanted, with longer sleeves.

[Mika notices the way the conversation shifts from "I" to "we" and even though he's not entirely sure he wants a tattoo, the thought of doing something with Yuu is appealing in its own.]

[Besides, Yuu did something permanent and painful for his sake, so why wouldn't Mika repay him in kind?]

I don't want it to be too easy for people to find you. Vampire or not, they may still want to capture you.

[That is, assuming Mika wanted to join him. Yuu won't be that upset if Mika didn't. This is kind of personal and permanent a thing, after all. But of course, it's also....yeah.]

You say that like we aren't being tracked anyway with the nanites or whatever. And with how long I've been here and how many people I've talked to now that know me, it probably wouldn't be that hard for Ferid or whoever to figure where I usually am.

[Mika always wants to join Yuu. He's just not sure what the appeal of being marked is. Then again, having something that Yuu has as well... There is something sweet about that.]

It's different. Ferid can't use the nanites to look for us. A tattoo that is harder to notice will do us both good.

So something smaller, somewhere we can cover it easily. Like on our back or wrist or something then. If we didn't want anyone else to see. I mean. Not that Ferid is here and I damned well hope he doesn't show up, but. I know we can't control that.

[But he might be vaguely aware that a tattoo would be some sort of identifier for a body. Not that vampires were easy to kill, especially here without any of the JIDA and their Cursed Gear, but still.]

[Mika can't help but worry. A tattoo is something a carefree person would make, but he's worried that they'll both lower their guards too much. ]

I hope not, too. If he shows up here we should move right away.

If he showed up, we'd know and figure something out. When or if he does. I wasn't thinking on him at all. It's not like I want his ugly mug tattooed on me.

[Ferid isn't here so it's fine. At least for now. He shouldn't be worrying so much when they aren't sure if he might ever turn up here in Heropa. Though perhaps he wouldn't mind getting some answers. He'd prefer it from Guren than Ferid.]

[Mika makes a disgusted noise at the thought of seeing Ferid's tattooed on anything.]

...Something to remind you of your family, perhaps. A symbol.

Yeah. That could work. I'd just need to decide. Maybe S.H? For Shinoa squad and H for Hyakuya. Wait, those are Shinoa's initials and she might get ideas or something.

[It's easy enough to try brainstorm. To throw ideas out there with each other at least. To see what 'sticks'.]

[Mika snorts good-naturedly.]

We don't want that.

Maybe the other way around? I mean. You guys were my family first. Hyakuya. So H.S? I mean. She might....still get ideas but. I mean. We can explain.

[Given how the Japanese naming works, with the surname first, in comparison to English. Though Yuu still sometimes forgets Shinoa and Shinya are really Hiragi, with the way they act and all.]

Or go with something else.

Wings could work. One for each of us.

It's cheesy, but still. You could put the initials on them.

Wings. Maybe. Yeah. I'm sure we could figure some sort of mock design and see what they say, how much that would be. Depending on how big we wanted it or if we wanted something smaller first. But we could do matching wings, one on each side of our backs or shoulders.
