006; Video
[ This video is coming directly from the Mayor's office in Maurtia Falls -- Baelish seated at his fancy desk with the communicator propped up in order to keep his hands free. ]
It's been some time since I addressed the network. My apologies for being absent as of late. I've been working on a few projects for Maurtia Falls, which I am excited to be able to finally announce.
My political stance has always been geared toward education and business. If we could improve both of these aspects of the city, I believe Maurtia Falls could grow into less of a center for criminals to thrive and more of a place for socioeconomic growth. So, over the next year -- we will be working on building the Maurtia Falls Community College. With affordable tuition and a wide variety of programs, I believe this will be an excellent place for not only children in the city to further their education -- but adults as well.
[ Baelish opens up a folder, as he says the next part. ]
Secondly, as many of you well know -- and many of our newest arrivals will learn, Maurtia Falls will not win any prizes for its safety. And there seems to be a pattern that whenever things hit -- they tend to hit Maurtia Falls either first or hardest. As a result...
[ He holds up a diagram -- a rough blue print for upcoming plans. ]
I've decided to begin construction on an underground shelter for the city and its residents. This shelter will be utilizing the latest technology to ensure safety, stability, and comfort. The immediate plan is to get it built and operational within the year. At this time, the bare minimum should be completed and it will be operational. But there are plans in the works to expand it beyond being a simple shelter. For example, creating a garden system so it could continuously generate food and a network of tunnels so people can be safely evacuated. These expansions will obviously take longer than a year's time, but I do hope many of us will be around to see them happen. If you have any further questions about this project, or you wish to get involved in it to help expedite the process, do let me know.
[ The diagram is set down and he glances at his watch. He's always been accused of talking way too much, so he's trying to keep this timely! ]
Lastly, I was curious -- would there be interest if I were to do a monthly town hall meeting for imPorts to bring up their issues in Maurtia Falls or to address problems in the community as a whole? I feel as though we do not have too many opportunities to come up with solutions as a group, and I personally would like to do what I can to bring community to this city.
[ He reaches out to shut off the communicator and then pauses as he realizes he had forgotten something else. ]
Oh. And this is truly the last thing -- I have lost a good majority of my imPort staff to port outs. If anyone has interest in working for the mayor's office, many positions are open. Contact me directly for an interview.
[ And now he actually goes to shut off the device. Or he thinks he does -- instead capturing one final thing. A soft sigh of relief. ]
There. Under twenty minutes. I would say that's a personal best, would you not agree?
[ There's a mockingbird chirp of agreement off screen. Baelish gets up, grabs a rather large bag of birdseed and takes out a handful to lay on the desk. A few mockingbirds take over the camera view, chowing down. One of them happens to see himself in the viewfinder on the communicator and starts to get a bit enamored with itself -- pecking at the screen. After a few seconds of this, the video feed goes dark. ]
