[Since her hotel hostage adventure had gone south, Lourdes has been laying low - not out of a desire to look repentant (she isn't, and she sees no reason why she should pretend that she is), but because she's been sulking. Her powers are gone, which is both horrible and a relief, and she's on probation, which she considers a joke.

But what she's most upset about is that it hadn't worked. She's not at all surprised that she'd been caught, and she'd always figured that it would happen eventually - but before that, when she'd been in the hotel with everybody, it hadn't done anything to make her happy, which had been her main goal in the first place. It hadn't been like Hearst Castle, or even the Horizon. It had been meaningless, just like everything else in the world.

She waits a while before turning to the network. She hasn't actually been planning to address this in any way - not to explain herself, and certainly not to apologize. But one evening when she's sitting around in her apartment, angrily glaring at the tattoo on her wrist, she fires it up and says something on a whim.]

It was for their own good.

[She has no idea how far news of the takeover has spread, or if most of the people who hear this will even know what she's talking about. That's okay. She doesn't care.]

[Ah, when was the last time he posted to this thing- it feels like ages, though it's only been a month or so, how interesting, time does fly here despite being dreadfully idle during a majority of it. And if he recalls, he wasn't even playing 'himself' really in his last message here, more just to pass the time. Of course this new post he plans will be nothing but nonsense--

or seem it anyway.]

[You can tell a lot about someone by what they have to say after all, especially during games.]

[The video shows what appear to be legs and feet. The camera stares down the legs of his white harem pants and shows his feet, crossed at the ankles up on some chair beside him, in atlantic blue high heels. Hisoka seems to be at some cafe, there's a rather pink looking tea cup at his side on a table.]

Let's play a game, shall we? I'm sure many of us looking at the network for now have nothing better to do. Have you ever played 'Would You Rather?' It relies on creativity and a degree of forethought. [And can be a lot more indepth and profound than one might think. Or so he hopes it will be.]

You create two situations and ask which someone would prefer. Shall I start? Perhaps something simple to get our feet wet.

[His legs uncross, and cross in the opposite way, a hand with bright, long, clawed nails appears and picks up the cup for a moment before setting it back down.]

Would you rather- to lose a hand forever or a foot forever?

So on a scale of one to awesome, one being useless as a slicker in the Sahara and awesome being ten: how useful is/are your power(s)?

Idle curiosity. Must be Tuesday.

Checked the newspaper, it is actually Tuesday.

[Crane considers the test sample of the previous week. Saturday night at De Chima University. It was not the size of the group that had made his data bright with promise. It was the knowledge gained. How imPort and native alike fought and struggled against fear and panic. Learning that they chose to deliberately hurt each other, rather than accept either. It hastened his heartbeat with the thrill of discovery. Yes, discovery and the thrill of watching them tear themselves apart. Crushing them under his thumb and subjecting them to his power.

He wouldn't have ruled out striking another night, either. Most of the students were the typical kind; stay out late, drink hard, throw your lives out with the cigarettes and bottles. Not unlike the undergraduates of his youth, then. But there had been a point to terrorizing the swearing-in. Fear was not just about how many people he could hold under his thumb. It was about who. The people they were and the monster whose mantle he wore. That's the reason for his other name today.

There are no pleasantries. He doesn't say hello.]

How are you doing these days, imPorts?

I don't mean to disturb you, but I'm sure you're wondering if I'm guilty as accused.

You're wondering if truth avails, perhaps? You'll have to learn both the hard way, I'm afraid.

Whoever created that fog wanted you to see that your fears are hollow; shadows that dwell between the emotion and the response. They were simply trying to loosen you up a bit. That's my professional opinion. Still, how awful this treatment must have been for you all...

Now. I'm afraid I'm going to ask you some questions. All in the interests of science, of course! Tell me what you saw. Detail the nature of the thoughts that flooded your mind. Report the emotions you felt. I'm here to help.

[There's one other, final message.]

To those who spoke of pre-emptive action; I find you all hypocrites.

Life is about choices. You made yours when you chose not to say a word.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work that must be done. Gotta earn my keep and all that.

Herodotus Antiques will be closed for the rest of the week. Possibly into the weekend.

If anything changes, I will let you know.

[That was the easy part. She doesn't want to draw too much attention to what happened to her at the Swear-In, but Bela couldn't ignore what was gnawing at her.]

I also need to speak with someone who has healing powers. If you're not busy.

[If she could heal the physical wounds, it would be something. The emotional and psychological trauma will take a lot more healing and Bela doesn't feel up to doing that just yet. Or even know where to begin.]

That's all for now.

[... yup] And I don't mean this weird-ass message board or the fact that we're in Florida-- no, I'm talking about all of it. Getting pulled here? Bullshit. Getting assigned a job? Bullshit. Being forced to live in a house with a bunch of other idiots? Buuuuuuuuullshit.

So. You all have five minutes to tell me something useful before I go right back and have a fucking chat with the machine that dragged us here.

[ The video is of Raina. At work. On a Sunday evening. Lit by the glow of her computer screen, and even as the feed begins -- she's finishing off her typing. Workaholic, much?

But she does give her attention to the communicator then, offering a sweet, charming smile. ]

Hello, fellow imPorts. I just have a few questions for the community as a whole -- a curiosity, if you will.

[ Her fingers lace in front of herself on her desk. ]

How many of you are satisfied with the power set you received upon arrival? For some of us, powers are new and strange, things we have never encountered in our own world. But for others, we're used to having far more. Abilities that were lost in translation either because they were far too strong or far too destructive. Some abilities may seem relatively useless. Some may be uncontrollable. Some require more thought, practice, and skill than others. While some seem like almost something of a joke on the porter's behalf.

All of this to say, these abilities of ours don't really share a common pattern. But they have become part of our identity as a whole and something that has branded us all as imPorts. And like our identity, there may be things about them we dislike -- things we wish we could make different. So if you had the opportunity to change your powers or alter them in some way, would you? If you could enhance them and make them stronger, would you do that as well?

Please consider my questions something of a survey to measure who may or may not be interested in my next leg of research. Thank you for your time.

[ With a friendly wave, she cuts the feed. ]

[Crane notices the willingness to discuss Father's Day amongst the community - sons have lost their fathers, and fathers have been torn from their daughters and sons. To say certain imPorts were angry about the separation; that didn't even begin to describe it.

So today, there's the opportunity to research. Father's Day offers everything he's looking for. The ritual tradition has transformed the collective human subconscious and is an annual display of feelings. Denial. Aggression. Love. All emotions that originate from one source, one word.

And that word is fear.

His tone is soft and hypnotic, with a slight lilt. It's the gentle tone he uses on his patients when he wants them to talk.]

A proverb says, "When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry."

[Crane taps his comm against his knee, and then he rests it on his desk and folds his hands in his lap. He licks his lips, once - and clicks his tongue in his cheek. He crosses his right leg and sinks into his chair. These are the those parts of his body language that nobody can see or hear, but are thoroughly expected to those revealed to the man he is. He's prepared to weather any open confrontation.]

Humans cry tears of joy and tears of sorrow. But for each person who begins to weep, another one stops.

I suppose it is the warmth of the relationship that makes fathers and sons cry.

[A pause. His voice remains soft and calming.]

If any of you find today difficult, I am willing to lend a confidential ear.

[Happy Father's Day.]

Hello everyone! This is Chrollo, although I expect you could tell from the ID field.

As per a request by Ira Gamagori, imPort Ambassador to Nonah, I'm planning to start a database keeping track of the various abilities here and who has them. The point is to make it easier for people in a bad situation to look up and contact whomever might be able to help them. So, for example, if you come across an injured civilian, it would be easy to look up healers who might be in the area and contact them. Or if, say, you come across a fallen wire, maybe there happens to be someone in the area who's immune to electricity and can move it to a safer position.

We also thought it'd be helpful for the recently completed training facility, and so (as mentioned by the Ambassador) I've volunteered to assist by matching potential students with the trainer of their dreams! Or as close as I can manage, anyway, depending on who signs up.

That said, this is strictly voluntary. Neither I nor the ambassador is looking to make anyone uncomfortable or make them feel watched, especially with the new regulations that have been announced of late. So feel free to flip by if you're not interested.

If, however, you are interested, either in having your abilities recorded or as someone who might reference the database, I'm wondering what you'd find most useful to include. Ability, name (or codename) and location seem obvious, but is there anything else I'm missing? I'm trying to be thorough, I guess, without being invasive, so please share your thoughts if you have any.

When I'm ready to roll forward with this, I'll be setting up a text-based inbox on my communicator for forms, suggestions, requests and training inquiries. But in the meantime, if you have any suggestions, questions or comments now, I'm more than happy to hear them and talk to you about them.

Feel free to use video or voice if you prefer! I'm making use of text for easy reference reasons only.

A most unusual summons...

[There was no magus, no ritual, and no Contract. There was, however, a war to be fought, or so she has been told, but this war was unlike the one she had agreed to fight back home. The prize was not the Grail. In fact, there was no guarantee the holy cup even existed in this world.

Her wish, then, might not be granted here, so what indeed was her motivation to wield her sword in the name of these people?

The answer is simple: the Knight's Code.]

That had to be the quietest party I've ever attended. Not a single death and no one's reputation torn to shreds. Formal events such as this swearing in should have more of high society tearing into each other because how else do you get over the tedium of smiling politely all night?

I suppose the identity game was meant to be the entertainment, but that's a little too Orlesian for my tastes.

[There's a pause as he stares at something out of view, someone walking past who can't believe that he isn't trying to keep his voice down to a whisper. But they don't say anything so Dorian continues on.]

Now where was I? Ah, yes. Change is inevitable and I thought the level of technology would be the only thing I needed to get used to, but if the parties are going to be a lot less bloody then I'd like to know what else I should expect. It's time to put a cover in place, just like any other day, and Harry decides his domestic one will be best: The closest to his true self without anything compromising, though he's felt as compromised as a man can get since his arrival. His voice is polite and measured when he finally starts recording.]

Pardon me if a voice post is a bit forward for a new arrival. This sort of technology has never been my strong suit. My name is Harry Hart. I can't claim to really understand what's going on, despite all the supplemental material that's been provided-- [There's the faintest huff of exasperation, which is entirely genuine. Regardless, I'll be happy to offer my services to the community at large. Unfortunately, that only comes in the form of tailoring. [It was only on her second day here that Bela decided to address the network at large in the hopes that she would gain more insight from others who had been around longer. After locating the antique store she now owned, she had remained there for a while and went out occasionally for food. The idea of sharing a residence was appalling to her but until she found somewhere else, Bela was mostly sticking to her store.

The feed clicks on to reveal Bela from the shoulders up, not giving away her location. She looks at ease and comfortable, even if she was still coming to grips with her new found abilities. Neat and presentable without a hair out of place. Make-up immaculate, emphasizing the green of her eyes.

Instead of blathering on about how "wonderful" it is to be stuck in this part of America with powers and undesirable living arrangements, I'll keep it brief.

[Okay, so Bela likes the antique store but details. She means business right now.]

First thing- Is there any particular area I should avoid? I don't need a long-winded explanation, just be blunt.

Second thing - Anyone with particularly dangerous powers? I'm not looking to get myself injured or killed because let's face it, that would be a shame.

[A smirk, as Bela allows that last sentence linger for a moment or two.]

"If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone." Poor baby.

The prophets wrote that Jesus, having resurrected, first presented himself to Mary Magdalene, who did not recognize him. Well, that's a classical telling. 'The women' is a more accurate translation. So I did that. They had cookies. [ A thoughtful clucking sound is attached to the disassociated voice. ] Then he came down upon his disciples, and broke bread with them. Would you be surprised to know just how many Satanists there are in Florida? They were very accommodating.

[ The camera is turned upwards. Here, at last, is an (unfortunately) familiar face for those who have been here for a while. Lucifer doesn't look like much otherwise, just another steely eyed, rough featured imPort making his introductions. There are wounds healing on his - admittedly pale - face that look like they might have been some kind of deep tissue radiation burn. Still, he doesn't seem to be in any pain--he looks kind of cheerful. ]

I really don't know what I did to deserve a military escort, but I'm more than happy to know that I've engendered such respect in the human population here. Well--respect; fear; one is so very much like the other.

Now then, why don't we start with some introductions. [ He tapped his lip with one finger, considering where to start. ] I have a number of names, most largely unnecessary, but Lucifer will do. For the uneducated amongst you, that means I'm an archangel. For the heathens--well, sucks to be you; you have fun with that. [Hey all, it's Chrollo - currently sporting a nice green cloth across his forehead and some pretty plain civilian clothes - jeans, a light jacket, a nice button down shirt. He looks pretty down to earth and not at all like a goth or a dramatic editorial model.]

Ah, it's been a long time since I did one of these.... I hope this doesn't come off as overly awkward. [He smiles a little.] But, all right... I have a few questions and a few people to contact, so I figured... why not get it all done at once?

[He sets the camera down on... probably a table of some kind. And now, you can see that he's currently sitting in a large but really... cluttered room. There are boxes everywhere - moving boxes, taped up and untaped, and the room itself is dimly lit but it's fairly easy to see that the only thing he's bothered to unpack is books. Stacks of books. Stacks and stacks of books.]

[So many books.]

[But hey, he doesn't mind. He looks pretty comfortable, really.]

First of all, I was wondering what kinds of things people for for excitement around here. Suggestions? I don't mean things like going to clubs - although if you have a club to suggest, I guess that's fine, too. But recently I've been going on... I guess they're adrenaline junkie excursions. [He laughs a little, sheepish.] A few weeks ago, I went swimming with sharks without a cage. I... don't think they're going to let me do that again, so that's out. And sometime this month, I'm going skydiving, but what else is there to do? I guess I could bungee jump or climb a mountain? I'm not sure. Neither I nor the friend I'm going with are particularly worried about physical peril - no one's going to die, so don't worry about that.

Second, this might be a little boring after that first part, but I'm looking to learn a little about computers. At home, I had a friend who handled that kind of thing for me, so honestly I have a hard time doing much more than looking at websites. If someone's willing to point me at a tutor or some kind of course... that'd be great. ...I know there are college courses I could sign up for but I'm not sure how well they'd take to my wandering in and asking how to turn the machine on.

Finally... I used to do a lot of charity work at home, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for which ones here are involved in worthwhile work. I have a list of potential organizations I could get involved with but I don't want to choose one that's going to use donations to line their own pockets. I don't have patience for that kind of nonsense - I'm looking for an honest charity that donates the majority of its incoming funds to the cause. I'm especially interested in organizations that feed the hungry or provide housing and opportunities for the homeless. But I'm willing to consider other causes, as well.

[he reaches over to shut down the video, and then... pauses.]

Sorry, one more thing. Jesse Pinkman? I'd like to talk to you about the outcome of that auction. Arrangements, details, that kind of thing.

Anyway, thank you for listening, and for your patience!

He keeps adjusting his new nerd glasses too, not quite used to the feeling of having them on his face just yet.

After a moment, he takes a deep breath and faces the camera. Hoo boy, how to phrase this. ]

So - uh - I know a lot of people kind of got their ages messed up? Like on Wednesday or so? About 6 PM?

[ Ughhh, he runs a hand through his hair. ]

The good news is, I know what happened. Because that was my experiment, and I'm really, really sorry to everyone who got messed up. The other good news is that it was supposed to wear off. Nanites and resilience and blah blah, you probably don't want details.

... It was also supposed to wear off in a couple hours. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it should wear off, I just don't know when.

But if it doesn't, I'm working on something. Just - everyone hold tight? Don't play in traffic? What other responsible things are adults supposed to say at a time like this?
