[Oliver Queen, when he appears on the communicator today, looks like death.

He hasn't bothered to shave in what's obviously been days, his eyes are bloodshot and there are bags underneath them. He looks like he hasn't slept in days because, well, he hasn't.

With what happened with the Hornet attacks over Valentines weekend and then the weekend just past, as well as the events that are about to happen, one of his powers has been in overdrive. And it's reached the point where privacy be damned-- he needs help.]

Does anyone have experience with-- [He breaks off, jaw clenched as his gaze flickers to his right, focusing on something in the distance before he lets out a sharp breath and forces himself to continue.] Premonitions or clairvoyance. Of any kind.

[There's another pause, where Oliver really just ends up screwing his face up in pain and reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose.]

Or, if anyone knows a way to knock yourself out quickly and effectively-- I'll take that, as well.

[Someone help him he's about to lose his goddamn mind.]

[ The video starts rolling well before Walter's prepared to sit down and talk. What the viewer gets is about twenty minutes of a frail and sickly thin, older white man in his tighty whities, staring blankly into the screen. A bottle of wine is in one hand, continuously pouring the contents into a glass as he drinks them down only to refill it again. It's the alcoholic channel, with a few fascinatingly thoughtful jaw clenches and an unwavering staring competition with the lens. Finally, he clears his throat and speaks up. ]

So this is supposed to connect me to others 'like me?' These so-called imPorts...

[ He studies his empty glass, turning it in his hands. ]

There's one question that never got answered, and maybe you can give me some insight? Clue me in a little because I sure saw a lot of fire and brimstone a few days ago...

[ He looks up, dead eyes focusing on the screen. ]

Is this supposed to be hell?

[ Peggy has been hesitant to post to the network before now, at first because she was new to the technology, later because she found reason not to trust it. But today she has information to share, and this is the most efficient way to do it. She sits before the camera, her back straight, shoulders square. ]

On Friday evening, I — along with a fellow imPort — encountered one of the Hornets responsible for the attack on the prison. He revealed that the Hornets have planned a series of thefts in De Chima to take place this coming weekend. Specifically, they have targeted engineering companies, with a special interest in those that manufacture generators. I don't know how they intend to carry out these thefts, or why. My hope is that sharing this information here will hinder their plans. I will also be visiting and warning the potentially targeted companies soon.

The security footage from the prison suggests that there were several Hornets running around Heropa that night. If any of you were able to find and speak with them, I encourage you to share anything you might have learned with us.

[ A few seconds pass, and it seems that she is finished speaking. In fact, she reaches for the communicator, ready to turn off the recording. Her hand pauses midair, then she lowers it. ]

On an unrelated note, if anyone knows of a definitive way to confirm that someone was ported out of this world, it would be much appreciated.

[ It's a long shot, she knows, but she has to ask. ]

You know, this isn't the first time the government's kept files on me, but I think it might be the first time they've let me read them.

[ Bruce isn't looking at the camera when he speaks. The view's askew, too, device propped up on the desk at which he's sitting and a little obscured by a small stack of papers in the foreground.

He removes his glasses before casting a glance towards the screen, offering a very small smile that's a match for his patient, gently amused tone. He seriously doubts the files he's read are the full ones; that's the joke, though he doesn't elaborate.

If you're a kid or an amateur scientist, or both, let me know what you're interested in learning about. Otherwise, you're in for my best attempt at a kid-friendly explanation of the fourth dimension. That should be relevant to everyone's interests, at least.

Job-related question, by the way. Not just asking because I love to talk about science. But on that note— if you work for a company with an R&D department, consider this an official job inquiry.

Hey all. Quick PSA:

Over at StarkTech there's a team of us that are working on a solution to some of the weird ~memory shenanigans~ that you might have seen around lately. We're no closer to a cure, but I'm pretty sure we HAVE now successfully got a working prototype for a "vaccine" of sorts. Basically we've figured out how to upgrade the imPort nanites to protect anyone else from getting false memories implanted in their head and believing that they're real.

If you want to swing by StarkTech any time this week, we'll be happy to fix you up. Free lollipop for people who come in, and it doesn't take any time at all. You can pop in over a lunch break.

The project's being headed by Jemma Simmons, Hiro Hamada, and me-- hi, I'm Skye, if we haven't met before. We'll be rotating different shifts, so you might not see all of us, but one of us will be around.

[Kick off for the memory sharing plot! Again, you don't have to have commented to this post to participate. Feel free to assume your character went in and saw one of them, or if you aren't comfortable handwaving having met one of them off screen, you can always say a random faceless lab-tech saw to you instead! Feel free to comment in here if you feel your character would though, or if they have questions, and network threads can always transition to action threads if you feel like playing it out. Skye, Hiro and Jemma will be out and about in places. Peace out!]

Public to network, locked from Sylar:

[Dean briefly considers a video post, but he's still looking less than stellar from his encounter with Gabriel and he doesn't really feel like sharing that with the entire network. So voice it is.]

Alright. So. [And he's just going to attach a link to the post made last Sunday because that's a Hell of a lot easier than actually talking about it and verbally confirming that yes, that had been his charred corpse.]

Did anybody find a leather jacket anywhere around here? [He's really hoping they did, because if nobody else has it, that means Sylar took it and Dean's not exactly looking forward to trying to get it back in one piece. Of course, he could always shoot the man and take it back, but that wasn't the point here.]

And does the name "Sylar" mean anything to anyone? [The name Gabriel was well enough known on the network, but maybe, if Dean's lucky (or unlucky, depending) there are people here from Sylar's world who know him. Or maybe others that he had tricked. He should probably take this time to warn the other imPorts about how dangerous the man could be, but the last thing he needs is a bunch of people running off after the guy half cocked. If anyone's going to be taking Gabriel down, it's Dean.]

[He's in a bit of a hurry so he'll make this quick:]

When someone drinks too much, what do people do to help them feel better? What's the cure? Sometimes, we'd cook this fish back home that helped out or our elder back home used to do a bunch of mixing with herbs and stuff, but I doubt that's the case here.

Also, this isn't as important, but. What's a Catty Purry?

[He means 'Katy Perry', but close enough.]

[ The video shows a man with brown hair, blue eyes, and a light blue button-up shirt sitting at a table. ]

Hello again. [ A Scottish accent, tempered by living in London. ] It's really been a while since I've been around, or on the network or anything. I think I've been a little pre-occupied by, um, some things. Yeah.

Anyway. [ He clears his throat and sits up taller in his seat, three fingers on each hand wrapped in white bandages. ] I've been thinking about looking into some supplementary work. Or then again, I might just need a new job proper, a fresh start. If anyone has suggestions or knows someone who's hiring—or, if you are hiring, for that matter—I'm quite interested in scoping out other potential employment opportunities and things.

[ Then it seems he's just had an idea or remembered something. ]

Oh, and. I remember having a little problem with... an old habit. I'd asked for help, gotten a little bit, and I guess I'd forgotten to really follow up on it, you know? So I'm just a little unsure of where to really go from here.

[ Feigning relief with marginal success, he exhales audibly. ]

I suppose that's all for now. Cheers.

[ This post, and all replies, come from someone called Max Goldstar. Haven't heard of him? Well, clearly you're not paying attention! Hahaha, just kidding, Kitty's managed to (with help) hack her communicator enough to set up a second identity. Which she is now using to be a little provocative.

Or...she hopes she's being provocative. And that Max Goldstar doesn't come across as being too much of an idiot to get the responses she's hoping for from people.

Here goes. ]

so today i was walking and i saw this guy trying to rob some lady

I apologize for my... absence as of late. I've been in the lab running tests on... well. I will get to that. [ She offers a smile before pulling the clipboard she has off camera, closer.] First of all, I wanted to thank Mr. Stark for allowing me to use his labs to run the tests. And I would also like thank all who donated blood samples.

Here are my findings as promised: [ She takes a breath, reminding herself to keep things in layman's terms.] Unfortunately, in regards to my own queries, the results were mostly inclusive. I did, indeed, find self-replicating nanties in the blood samples I took. But they seem to do nothing to affect bodily functions in a significant way.

Long story short--[ she winces because she prefers to babble about science rather than shorten an explanation.] after extensive testing, these nanites do not seem to be the source of our "powers". At least not on their own. [ oh, she wishes fitz was here, he'd probably be able to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle somehow.]

article under cut. spoilers it's the public files from the misfile plot. content warning for talks about drug use, mental illness )

"In our first news item this evening, authorities say they have finally caught the hacker responsible for last week's government security leak. The imPort known only to authorities as "Skye" turned herself in to Heropa PD this morning, confessing to the crime and providing ample evidence of her involvement. What spurred this sudden confession, police are still trying to understand. Is she merely a pawn taking the fall for some larger organisation? We now switch to Lauren McMercer live, interviewing the policemen who made the arrest."

[The interview that follows of the officer is bland and doesn't really give much detail. There was no fuss to be had with the arrest; in fact, the whole thing was basically a non-event.]

((OOC: like the previous post, you can use this to chatter among yourselves on the network, come visit Skye in lock-up, etc. It's a multi-purpose kind of post to keep things from over-flowering.))

[ after giving herself a bit of a pep talk about how she can do this. without fitz. about how she's capable and this is what needs to be done, the camera turns on to show jemma in a lab coat, in a lab (a stark lab) with a clip board in her arms and a smile on her face.]

Hullo. My name is Dr. Jemma Simmons. I am still a bit of a new arrival to this place which means I am curious as to how this place works. More specifically, as a biochemist, I would like to know why is it some of us arrived here with abilities we did not possess before or as some of you may call them... "powers". [ she prefers a more scientific name but she's trying to keep this easy to understand. layman's terms and all.]

So let me cut to the chase: I would like take some blood samples from you. For testing. [ she's quick to add:] This is completely voluntary of course! All I would need is a very small sample. [ she holds up a small vial before she holds up a sheet of paper.] And I would have you fill out a survey I've created first once you contact me via this post.

I assure you, I am quite professional and your samples will remain anonymous to everyone but myself. And they will be destroyed once tested. [ she offers another smile, a little more confident but it's very hopeful.]

Thank you for your time.

[ it's been over two years since steve had woken up in the future; he's more or less gotten the hang of modern technology now. which means that when he addresses the network via a video, there is no technical malfunction, and the feed doesn't shake, it isn't upside down, none of that. it shows steve in uniform, framed so that he's visible only from the shoulders up. behind his head, the curve of the shield strapped to his back is visible, though not immediately recognisable. ] This is Steve Rogers- though most people back in my world know me as Captain America. [ there's a hint of a smile in his expression, something rueful. ]

Where I'm from, freedom of speech is an important pillar of society, and I hope the same holds here. So I'm asking now — what are your experiences with the military, and the government?

[ there's no hesitation in the question, just a firm steadiness to both his voice and his expression. steve isn't paranoid by nature, but hydra infiltrating shield has shown how important transparency and scrutiny are for a government and for the military. so, before he goes back to a life of service for a government that isn't the one he knew growing up, he wants to have some account of what they're like. asking the government itself or turning to the media is one thing: in a well-functioning society, those are sources that will tell him the truth. in a not-so-well-functioning society, however, that's very different and steve? steve grew up in brooklyn, grew up on backalley fights and the great depression. asking the people is, in the end, the best source there is.

after a moment's pause, he adds:
] If, for whatever reason, you'd rather not talk about it via this channel, I'd be happy to meet you anywhere. And if you're afraid to talk, that tells me enough.

Thank you for your time. [ he lifts a hand, obviously to shut off the video feed, but before he does, there's a dry: ] Rogers out.
