[This video is primarily a response to the slander that just occurred in response to one man expressing a love for a blessed holiday treat. This injustice will not go uncorrected if Peter has anything to say about that. Or well, at least it won't go without a petty filmed response - one filmed in the X-Haus livingroom guru unboxing style.

Peter sets the camera up, stepping back to silently gesture at a large cardboard box he's set down on the coffee table. Using a utility knife he cuts open the tape, parting the flaps and revealing the contents within. Like a sea of orange, white and yellow gold - he holds up a handful and lets the delicate kernels slip through his fingertips with a solid and surveying look and a nod of appreciation.

He then sits down on the couch, pulls both the table and box toward him, and with his eyes dead-set into the camera lens proceeds to eat a handful of candy corn. Thus begins the most Halloween themed mukbang this network has ever or will ever again likely see. He keeps eating. There's no end in sight. And he's going to live stream every last second in beautiful, crisp technicolor.

You can't stop this, nonbelievers. You can't do a single thing to stop this.]

Don't you just freaking love getting in the Halloween spirit? I know I do.

[It's 2 AM when this message pops up on the network—it had been meant for Lando's more private channel, but. Well. Considering Han's early morning texting habits, this was bound to happen at some point.]

hey Lando if you're still up I need some help

where are all the best places to take someone out for a classy first date

[Oops.

He doesn't wait for a response or even check if he posted it to the right place before he passes out for an hour or two. In the very near future, he's going to come to regret that.]

[So Peter's coming at you vlog style, sitting on a bench with his earbuds in before he pulls them out and loops the cord around his neck to have them stay put. He's adapted pretty well to the whole new age technology thing bit by bit, but talking into a phone camera is mega weird. Sorry for weird angles, he's working this shit out.]

Yo, so last month you guys were real cool about the whole ordering pizza thing - thanks for that. Pie In The Sky got shut down for a while after the place got trashed, and they decided to rebrand while they were doing their repairs. [He holds up a paper flyer. He's been handing these out all day, jamming them in mailboxes, mail slots and even inside people's vehicles and any open windows. You're free to find them just about anywhere, in potentially great volume. Sorry not sorry.] So Porter Pizza'll be reopening on the 9th.

There'll be free slices, some great deals and you can help 'em get back on their feet after all that shit that went down. The joint's run by some cool people and I'm still doing deliveries, so I can guarantee you'll get a hot pizza every time. If you don't believe me, give it a shot and I'll show you up.

[He doesn't really have much else to announce but he doesn't feel like dishing out any more flyers so he gets comfortable on the bench. He furrows his brow and hell, why not:] I'm gonna start a war and I don't even care: Pineapple on pizza, yay or nay?

[Major comes on screen, wearing a tank top. He flexes both arms, creating a sort of upside-down U-shape.] Yo, bro! Bro, do you even lift, bro?!

God, no, sorry, can you imagine if I really talked like that? Ugh. Anyway, now that I've got your attention, please hold all the rotten fruit you were getting ready to pummel me with (with good reason) to listen to my announcement!

I'm looking to open up a fitness center for all imPorts later this month. I'm still in the stages of setting it all up, but it'll eventually - hopefully - have all sorts of equipment for all kinds of abilities and powers. Like, treadmills that go to inhuman speeds for all you Speedy Gonzalezes out there. Oh geez, was that racist? Sorry. Uh. For all you .. uh ... Flashes out there? And there'll be crazy weights for all of you Hulks who wanna show off how much you can bench to all your buds. If you have other powers that could benefit from going to the gym to workout on the regs, just let me know what kind of accommodations you might need, and I'll see what I can do!

[He starts to turn the video off, but comes back at the last minute.] OH! Wait, duh. The reason I made this was also to ask if there are folks who might be interested in working at said fitness center! We'll need front desk staff, personal trainers (I was one in my last life, so I can totes help you if you want me to!), a maintenance crew, an accountant, and PR folks. If you're interested, hit me up here or using the strange faux-iPhone devices we all have. Thanks!

[Lorna is sitting in a bakery. There's evidence of a recently consumed danish on the plate on the table between her and the phone's camera. Maybe that's why she looks so pleased. Or maybe it's because she's alive and sometimes that's a rush all its own.]

I thought I'd introduce myself, since I just got here and it seems like the thing to do. I'm Lorna Dane. It's pretty nice to be somewhere sunny. Or anywhere at all.

Anyway, I'm still a little fuzzy about things here. I don't know that I'll get over being accepted by the population at large anytime soon. That's definitely not how it is back home. I wonder what else is different that people don't know to tell me about.

On the one hand, I want to know if there are people from home here so I can either catch them up on the gossip or be caught up myself. On the other hand, I think this might be a really good time to make a break with my old life and try something new for a change.

I'm a publicist now, which is going to take some adjustment. Still, it's nice to have a civilian job again.

I don't really have a point to make, I guess. Just that I look forward to getting to know people and hopefully things will be less ridiculous than home here.

Well! What a group we all make.

[ Get a load of this guy. Leather jacket. Violet sunglasses. Touch of a French accent. He's not blending in at all, but it's clear that he's not particularly interested in trying to. He's lounging with feline grace (read: like he owns the place) in a corner booth at an all night pancake house, one arm draped casually over the back of the seat, the other holding the communicator. He gives the camera a smile and an elegant little wave. ]

Hi. Lestat here. Author. Rock star. Creature of the night. I introduce myself this way not to be egotistical — although I am, enormously — but because I've been told that it accounts for some of my eccentricities. I'll let you judge that for yourselves.

Now, I could go on about myself all night, and I gladly will if anyone cares to ask, but I have a question! There's no wrong answer. There may not be a right one, either. The question is in regards to a story, and the gist of the story, although significantly and brutally abridged, is this:

The protagonist of this tale isn't a heroic man, or even a particularly good man. Actually, he's mostly awful, when you get right down to it. And he had, quite some time ago, found himself down on his luck for a whole host of reasons, most of which he most certainly deserved. But one day, something changed. The particulars of that change don't matter right now, only that he knew that he, too, had to change; had to undergo what a generous author might call character development. And so this man made a grand if somewhat disastrous gesture of honesty, of love, and perhaps of repentance. Things didn't go as planned, because of course they never do in a good story, do they? Ah, but in any case: rising action, climax, denouement. All the parts were there, and the ending even hints at another volume.

And then— [ Here he waves his hand, as if to indicate the whole of everything: himself, the pancake house, the endless night outside the window where a vinyl poster advertises all you can eat waffles. ] This. And so my question is: what lesson, what kind of meaning do you think our protagonist should take from a plot twist like this? I find myself at a loss, my dear viewers, and it's too farfetched of a sequel hook for my tastes. I wonder whether—

[ He pauses here, something offscreen catching his attention, along with a weary, irritable-sounding customer service voice. ]

—ah! My lovely waitress Ethel is asking whether I intend to sit here vlogging all night or if I'm going to order something. Say bonsoir, Ethel.

[ He turns the camera; the surly waitress does not look amused. Back to Lestat, then. ]

Well, it seems even my charm has its limits. For now, then!

[ And with another wave, he signs off. ]

[All the video shows is a steady shot of a high school cafeteria lunch tray. It's the standard square pizza, corn niblets, milk setup, but there's the added bonus of a nicely frosted brownie in a little plastic tray.

The camera switches views to Blue's face. Her hair is over-clipped as always, and there's the added benefit today of lime green lipstick. No other makeup though, natch.]

So apparently, no matter the dimension or universe or whatever, American public schools always have the corn and square pizza.

[There's several non-imPort kids in the pack ground, watching her film an laughing their asses off. She waves them down, then picks the pizza up to take an experimental bite.

Hmm.]

Yep. Just as terrible as always. That's comforting.

So how do the rest of you entertain yourselves when you can't have marathon sex to pass the time? Or whatever it is you normally do to keep yourself busy, I suppose.

I should have asked this a week ago, but it would be a good idea to have some suggestions in mind if I get stuck in such an unfortunate situation again.

[ Miles' video feed opens on him in his office in Nonah, which is ... honestly pretty wrecked. Someone had a fight in here - and maybe threw some people through some walls - and so there's some temporary drywall put up to patch things up for now. He's working on it, okay. And fortunately he's got the money to just pay for it without pestering the city about such things.

But perhaps more noticeable to people who know him is the empty sleeve pinned up on his left side. He sure is missing an arm all of a sudden. Whoops. ]

I have two requests. The first is - well, I find myself in need of an interior decorator, if there are any so inclined.

[ He gestures at the drywall in his office, the wrecked furniture. A good reason to replace it with something nicer. ]

And the second is ... perhaps a bit of a stretch. But are there any out there with skill in producing prosthetics? I'm told I'll regenerate my limb eventually, but I'd rather have something now, if possible.

[ And another gesture, this time to the empty sleeve. ]

I would appreciate anyone who can help on either front. You'll be paid, of course, as I expect either would be a considerable task.

So, first of all: for all the new imPorts, hi. Welcome to America. Or welcome back to America if you were already there in your world. If you need clothes, I can get you started. [She's going to systematically infect these new imPorts with an appreciation for the '80s, so help her god.] Just swing by the Second Time Around Vintage Clothing Shoppe and ask for Veronica Sawyer. I'll even get you a discount.

Second, has anyone seen my housemate? He's not so tall, speaks Spanish pretty well, and he's from space. We're worried about him, he just up and disappeared one day.
[Jyn's already said her piece on the subject, so Veronica's bit on this is quick, and here the benefits of text come in handy—no one can hear her voice cracking with worry.]

Third, does it count as a birthday if you celebrated it maybe less than six months ago? Because I turn 18 in two weeks, but back home, before I came here in May, it was early November, so really this year I'd be 17 and a half on my birthday. Probably.

Keeping track of this is a lot harder than it should be.

So I have mixed feelings on the whole black light tattoo thing because on the one hand it's cool, sure, but on the other it's a bit - can we say c r e e p y ? was consent a little too hard to ask for? Jeez, if I ever see my mom again she's going to hit me with a dish towel or a broom, and I didn't even get to pick the design. It's like someone gave me a glowstick IV. I feel like I'm going to turn blue soon, turn into a real mutant or something.

You ever stop and wonder why all the mutants and superheroes are kinda blue, anyway? it's such a popular color. I mean, if I could turn a color, I'd choose something a little less mainstream. Am I alone? am I just overthinking this... No offense to any blue friends out there. Guess you can't help who you are or what hue you happen to be. It's just hue you are?

Anyway, the actually important thing I had to say is that I work for a pizza joint here now and I'm not gonna boast but... actually I am going to boast, you ask for Quicksilver for delivery? You'll get that pie faster than you can pull out your change to tip me.
pretendtoneedme: (wait what is that)
[personal profile] pretendtoneedme
[It's quiet for a moment as the person making the request isn't completely sure how to say what he wants; he's used to staying to the shadows and working from there, so reaching out so publicly goes against most of his training. Still, he has questions, and it's not like his enemies from home can find him here. ...Probably. So he concentrates, stilling himself and throwing a casual tone into his voice that he's not actually feeling considering he just wound up on a world he's never heard of. His day had already been going weird, but this is the icing on the cake of crazy.]

So I'm looking for some people, and I was wondering if any of them are here or if anyone's seen them. Steve, Sam, uh- Scott. And Wanda. We were kind of all together back home and if I'm here, maybe they are, too, so if they are I want to track them down again. See if we can figure out what's going on, that kind of thing. If you know them, can you tell them I'm looking for them?

[The choice to leave out their last names is deliberate, but except for Scott they are his friends, some of the people closest to him in his life. And a group like that, first names are really all that's important, other details can wait.]

[But whoops, he forgot something. And this time he will use a surname.]

Oh yeah - I'm Clint, Clint Barton. Thanks, and see-

[He's interrupted in signing off by a bark off to the side. There's another brief pause, and then Clint speaks up again with a bit more confusion in his voice.]

Did anyone in, uh, Heropa lose a dog? I've had this guy following me around for at least half an hour now, looks like some kind of chocolate lab mix and he seems like he's been trained but he isn't wearing a collar. Do you think I have hamburgers or something?

[ It took Peter a while to figure out the whole smartphone thing. To be fair though for him 'a while' was like... five minutes. Maybe six. Oh he still hadn't figured out EVERYTHING yet, but like the basics? Totally down. He had to fight the urge to try and take it apart and put it back together again. He had a feeling it was waaaay more complicated then the walkmans and arcade cabinets he pulled apart and tweaked. ]

This thing is so awesome... Like something outta a scifi flick or something...

[ There's a guy with a silver mullet and motorcycle goggles perched on his head on the screen. No really. Dude looks like he walked right outta the 80s. He pretty much did too. There's also an odd high pitched buzzing noise in the background. Technically it was music. A mix of Queen, David Bowie, Rush, and Pink Floyd. Not that most would notice. It was being plaid at like... several hundred times the normal speed. Luckily Peter notices he left his walkman on and he flips it off after a couple seconds. ]

Anyway, hey. Name's Peter Maximoff and it's come to my attention that it is the year 2016. Last I checked it was 1983.  That means I'm missing out on 33 years worth of music and that's a damn tragedy. [Clearly that's his most important issue here now. ] So y'know. I need recs from all you future people! What's good? What sucks? I'm not too picky about genre but I gotta have music or I'll probably go crazy.

[ OK so really he's still worrying about his mom and his sisters and the kids at the Prof's school and other family issues that he just really doesn't wanna think about daddy issues don't ask. So to keep his mind off things he's just gonna think about music and stuff because running more laps around the city really isn't helping him much. ]

Oh! And video games. There's gotta be like at least a dozen new versions of the Atari and ColecoVision by now, right?
