[Hey, it's Lucy. She's in a dress that can only be described as over the top - gold and tissue and swirling around her, and she has so much in the way of jewelry that it's hard to imagine how she's holding her head up. She looks like she's just been at a fancy renaissance faire version of an even fancier party.]
It is a truly odd sensation, to imagine an entire world exists that you can only remember when you preside in it, that there is an entire universe of friends and those you imagine to be like family who you can only hold dear when you are near them.
I had forgotten you, and now I remember it all, and there is so much-
[She's smiling, though, she's happy to be here.]
If you, my friends, will forgive me for forgetting you, and be so kind as to provide me with the answer of how long I was away, and if you are still here, I would be so grateful.
And more, if someone might be able to help me, as I have found myself missing a slipper.

While a Queen can never be late, my Lady, I do feel the need to point out you missed Christmas.
[ He lifts an eyebrow, for once pretending at a judgment that he doesn't feel. ]
I saved a little of the spiced wine, just in case. Are you coming home?
video
[She says his name like a miracle.]
I missed-
But no, I recall leaving gifts, did you find them? Please say you enjoyed the holiday even without my humble presence-
[And a pause.]
I would gladly - mostly gladly, I would be gladdest, to come home, but I would require some assistance. I think Porthos will fetch me.
video
[ Read: He's stuck babysitting Crane and it's awful. He would rather keep Lucy as far away from that man as possible. ]
We have gifts for you, as well. Perhaps this evening we can celebrate together.
video
I wish to embrace you fondly once more.
Athos has said he will come and bring me home.
video
[ Gladly. A few hours in Crane's company is more than enough to make him miss the farm. He's sorry he can't go now. ]
You look well, by the way. I'm glad to see you wearing your jewels again.
video
[She looks down, and realizes-]
It is a queen's ransom in jewels, and I should think I will have to lock them away. It was quite a party when I was brought here, you know I do not wear such things every day.
[She seems a little embarrassed by it.]
Is it a new task and calling that has you out?
video
[ More like, he doesn't want her to talk about it and draw Crane's attention. He doesn't want any kind of fixation in Lucy's direction. He moves quickly, pointedly, back to her jewels. ]
It's the time of year for parties, so I'm glad for that. I think you should wear them exactly as often as you'd like to, for they suit you.
And I'm sure it was good, seeing your family again.

[She thinks a moment.]
I do not care for the curse that burdens me with forgetting your face and your character. It is upsetting now to think of-
-so I shall think of it not.
[Life with Lucy, really.]
If I wear them, then I must be accompanied, but oh, some of them are fine. I will wear them when I am most lonely, to ensure I will have one of your fine company-
-ah, but my pins! Did you receive them?
no subject
It had been a long month without her. He's missed her. ]
We did. They were very fine. I was only sorry I couldn't give you your own gift, which I plan to do as soon as I see you. We'll do that, and then I want to hear everything that took place at home.
Including why you are missing a shoe. A thousand jewels and a missing shoe. It must have been quite some party, my lady.
no subject
You say it and it sounds like, well, I don't know, as though I took a lover and lost a shoe in some tryst between dancing and dining!
[She says it in a rushed way that makes it clear that this is not it at all.]
no subject
Well, now that you mention it...
What actually happened? Go on, I want to hear.
private
My royal brother told me I looked like an overdone toffee-apple, and so I threw my slipper at him.
[SHE'S ONLY TELLING HIM BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT HIM TO THINK SHE'S A HUSSY]
private
I’m sure it was an elegant throw.
[ He’s so sorry, Lucy. ]
Did you hit him, at least?
private
[She has great aim, thanks.]
Right on the middle of his smug forehead.
private
[ Still, he looks pleased. It's strange to think of royalty behaving the way she just described - more like children than heads of state. But why shouldn't they? Royals are people as much as anyone else. He shouldn't forget that, especially not with Lucy. ]
Speaking of which, I don't suppose you brought your bow with you?
private
[SHE LOVES HIM SO MUCH]
My bow remained, alas. Pounds of jewels and not a single fletch of an arrow.
private
[ Such as in the Christmas present he left for her, for example. ]
Has someone come for you yet? I hope you won't be waiting long.
private
If there was any doubt of his unwavering steadfastness.
[She's so fond of Athos, too.]
I do not think he will make me wait very long. As long as it takes to find my shoes, and saddle his horse.
private
[ A little pause. ]
I am glad you're back, my lady. The house has felt utterly different without you around.
private
I will see you shortly.
