There are things we need before we can even consider rescuing any of them.

Information, primarily speaking.

Now I don't care where it comes from or how it was obtained, I just need every scrap of information anyone has on this situation. Perhaps it's not much on an individual scale, but compiling everything into one source may grant us more insight.

I've gone ahead and created such a document, though it is locked down for security reasons- as all informative responses to this should be. I've granted some individuals access, and will continue to do so as I sort through responses. Everyone with access will have the ability to add their knowledge to it, as well as share the document with others. Moderately complex perhaps, but it's an attempt to keep the information leaks to a minimum.

There's not much there at the moment, as it only reflects my observations so far, but collaborative discussion of course is highly encouraged. I will store frequent back-up copies in case of error.

((ooc: As the Gdoc is open to everyone, feel free to assume access- or don't, if you want your character to badger him about it instead.
Update: This post and the attached document are now under Qubit's qgeocrypt so that only devices inside the US will be able to access them. This means all captives have been locked out!))

I can check space for you.

[thank god her comm tag reads Lapis Lazuli because little miss tact here has completely forgone any sort of explanation or introduction and just jumped right at the heart of the matter. even a 'Wasabi talked to me' would have worked, girl.]

I have wings. [and, for simplicity's sake, she simply summons them from her gem rather than explain further.] I can go up into space right now if you want; I don't need a suit or preparation or anything.

Wasabi said that if they're up there, they probably haven't left orbit? I'd only need a couple hours to check something so small.

[she doesn't seem to be particularly moved by his betraying how startled he is. Lapis is used to humans being weird about what gems can do at this point.]

That's not far at all for anyone capable of real interstellar travel. [it's harsh, but Lapis apparently doesn't mean to cause offense. it sounds like she's stating a fact.] It's fine. I'll just be a little slower because I'm looking for something.

I was told it was something big and probably spinning. Is that still right?
oceanthief: (and i don't think i get it)

If you want me to, as long as it's small enough to carry.

[she's not entirely certain human tech could record from the inside of her gem. she's also not certain she wants to be the test subject on that one.]

-> action?

I'll be there in a little bit.

[and so she is, perhaps twenty minutes after ending the conversation. De Chima's not too far from Nonah by flight, but it's still a fair distance. Lapis is pretty easy to pick out once she arrives - not only is she blue, but she's only as tall as a child, falling short of five feet by a fair margin.]

[Lapis takes it without really acknowledging the greeting, still kind of unversed in the whole 'polite introduction' thing. she turns it over in her hands once or twice before nodding softly. not really impressive at all compared to what's at home, but she's learned not to expect much from humans.]

Do you need me to bring it back right away after I'm finished?
oceanthief: (but one day i'll make you proud)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-01-23 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't. [unlike you organic nerds, she doesn't get tired.] I'll let you know if I find anything as soon as I'm done, and then I'll come give this back.
oceanthief: (so i just gotta do it)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-01-23 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be fine.

[look, she's trying her best to integrate to a society that is almost the polar opposite of her own. and hey! she even manages to give an awkward little smile that's meant to be reassuring.

Lapis lingers for a moment, just in case he has something else he needs to tell her. when the silence begins to stretch out to an uncomfortable amount, she figures it's acceptable to leave.]

...bye.

[true to her word, a little over four hours after retrieving the camera from StarkTech Hermann receives a text. it's simple, but this time it's because Lapis is a little distracted by navigation.]

There's no one up here but me. If they're in space, it's a lot farther out than you thought.

You'll probably have better luck on the planet than up here. Humans have never really been that great with space travel.

At least you've got a lot less ground to cover.

[and are now dealing with stuff Lapis can't help with, even if she really cared to. earth geography is not in her wheelhouse.]
