You can't actually be serious? You can't burn books! That's appalling. Just because this world can't let go of the Cold War doesn't mean you have to encourage them. Jesus Christ.

Also: Book-burning, as an act in itself, isn't illegal. There are laws concerning starting fires in public places, of course, which I've looked into — and this will be contained, the smoke won't be drifting to any residential areas, and although the burning will be taking place on private property, I have permission from the property owner.
So, to reiterate: Yes, I can burn books if I want to.

Look back through history at the cultures that have encouraged the burning of books. Those are not the kind of people you'd want to emulate. There's no excuse for it. It's a terrible thing to do, regardless of how much you disagree with the book in question.

Lighten up.
Get it?
That's a fire pun.

[ No one says 'droll', Gansey. ]
I'm not going to lighten up. I've just told you book burning isn't a joke. What exactly has Dr Chilton done to offend you so badly?

And I mean that seriously. Even if I gave you a legitimate reason, would that somehow morph you into a person whose shorts I don't want to see raised on a flagpole?
(The answer is no.)

Now that's a new one. I'm gonna file that away for later use. Maybe stick it on a resume under the Skills section.
Thanks, pal.

Oh, by all means, it’s yours. I’m so glad I could be some kind of help.
