Hey, imports. I don't know how many of you follow the news routinely, but... I figured I would come on here, while my press guy goes to tell the news outlets.
[ He looks away from the screen, for a moment, before back to the camera. ]
Effective...well, as soon as it can be arranged, I've decided to give up my position as ambassador of De Chima, Virginia. I'd like to thank everyone for their support, and their willingness to let me nose in on your lives and your opinions, and I hope... that in the future, you'll allow me to keep doing that.
I'm not exactly done with politics, or I'd probably have stopped breathing by this point. I'm not really in the business of giving up, but... When opportunity strikes...
[ Another pause. This one considerably longer. He tipped his head, as if he was listening to something off-screen. Of course, he was. ]
So, it's official. This one's mostly for anyone currently living in Virginia -- hopefully you'll be voting, and if you do, I'll appreciate your vote in November. I'll be running to become your elected Sentor in DC.
But, obviously, more than that, I'd appreciate hearing what's important to you. Just because I'll -- hopefully -- be one of the honorable senators for Virginia, doesn't mean I don't intend to forget about the rest of you imports. I'd like to take our voices to the Senate floor, whenever possible.

Besides, I think... it would be nice, to have a voice in what's happening to us legislatively.
video
Agreed. We've been here long enough at this point. [ It's about time they had some kind of representative in a higher position. ] I'm surprised they're allowing it, but denying us wouldn't look good on 'em.
video
No, it wouldn't. But also, why would they want to? I don't think they hate us, and I don't think they want us to hate them. Giving us a voice -- letting us have a voice -- is going to make them better at managing our concerns and issues. People would be happier with them, then.
video
[ Although Mitch has been a constant in between these two worlds for a long time. He was there long before her in the City. ]
Not too worried about that?
video
[ A soft, weary sigh. ]
I've been an import for seven years. At this point, I'm starting to feel like home isn't really... I've stopped waiting around to go back. Hell, I'm starting to wonder if I'll go back.
video
video
But I mean, I miss my friends, if that's what you're asking. I don't think I couldn't, but... I was fortunate enough to have one of them here for a while.
video
[ Her eyes soften. ]
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked that.
video
It's fine, Power Girl. We're imports, you know? I've lost friends I'll probably never see again.
[ He probably wouldn't see Bradbury again, either, but that was something he couldn't talk about. ]
video
[ Despite her own losses, she does have people to return to.
But not everyone wants to go back as Mitch has reminded her, so she won't push the subject if his mind is made up. ]
It's only too bad they can't see you now. Would they show their support?
video
I'd like to think so.
[ The way he and Bradbury left it? Not really. ]
But I could be wrong. You know, politics is... it forces a distance between you and the people you care about. I don't think there's a way to avoid that, you just have to be willing to make that sacrifice.
[ It's the closest he's come. To saying that he and Bradbury are no longer friends -- although the specifics... ]
video
[ Not that Mitch probably doesn't have his own agenda — that's how politics are, but she'll refrain from implying anything like that. ]
But I kind of hope that won't be the case here, especially now that you've set your sights higher.
video
I've gotten better at it, too. Which helps. Back when I was younger, it was all I could do to not stay at work all day. I kind of missed out.
[ He also had an impending invasion to prevent. ]
video
[ She realizes after all this time, she doesn't know much about Mitch... ]
video
I spent a couple of months in a very poorly-advised attempt at being a superhero. After I figured out I was doing more harm than good... then I went into politics. I've been in it since -- Christ collectively it's probably closing in on fifteen years?
video
video
And a jetpack.
[ He looked ridiculous. ]
It was a bad idea.
video
Sounds like you went all out.
But this job isn't for everyone ‐ which isn't a bad thing. We don't get paid well.
[ Or at all. ]
video
[ And low-income housing. And SNAP benefits.
It was a dark time. ]
It was never about the money anyway. We were just...incompetent. And really, my world wasn't one that would ever be friendly to superheroes. I was the only one.
video
vdeo
I was gifted with superpowers. It seemed appropriate.
[ "gifted" ]
video
[ She's not going to judge him for it. It just... happens for whatever reason. ]
But hey, you're still doing good at least.
video
You know, I tried to stop a guy from getting smashed by a train, and... I shut the entire railways down for almost an entire night. Sometimes, it's just best to recognize that you're really meant to do more harm than good, if you're in a certain field.
[ And for him? That was doubly true. ]
video
I mean, to be fair I've wrecked quite a few things over the years. Never meant to, but it's tricky when someone's punching you throw not just one, but several walls.
