Is this really it?

[The half-incredulous tone of a guy who is obviously gearing up for an impassioned speech of some sort, but still valiantly fighting the urge.]

A handful of paperwork, [and here he holds up his own file folder,] a mark on the wrist, and an assignment to placate us?

[Someone's vlogging, because as he walks past a nearby burn barrel he tosses his file into it and doesn't even watch the sparks fly up as he continues on his way. Something about symbolically burning the whole damn thing down to the ground comforts Markus enough that he moves on from suggesting outright revolt. For now.]

I'm not moving into a stranger's home, so no one living in De Chima #004 has to worry about a new roommate. And if anyone would like to be a dating app developer, the position is currently up for grabs.

Anyone of a like mind, I'd appreciate your perspective.

[Too soon Hank, but it's kind of nice that Markus is someone a human thinks of immediately as a good representative. Heartening.]

You mean what they list as 'powers.' Which apparently "android" is a power, if you were wondering. [That's like saying "being able to eat" is a power or "physically possesses a body" is a power, so dumb]

[There's that and Hank just wants someone responsible in that type of seat, to be honest. He frowns at Markus' words, stroking his chin.]

Why I could say I'm surprised, but Connor has the same shit. Still don't understand how the fuck is that a power...[It makes him wonder...] Wonder if that power is removed what would happen.

[Intellectually, Markus knows Hank meant that more as something to wonder, and it makes sense; even here, 'human' is the standard type of existence. Hank could have just wondered if 'removing' the android 'power' would turn them into organic beings, or something of the like.

But the approximation of his heart still speeds up a little at the imagined threat, and makes him withdraw.

I couldn't say.

[There's a split second where he deliberates- Hank is Connor's friend, and as such any correction on faux pas would be better received from him, but at the same time Markus didn't get where he was by putting the onus of educating others onto the shoulders of his people.]

I wouldn't pose a question like that to anyone else whose species is listed as a power. They might take it the wrong way.

Tch. [He realizes a little too late that he had made that mistake.] Don't have to tell me twice. Sorry. Didn't mean it that way. [So at least Markus' guess was right.] It's just thinkin on my part...one of my powers listed is 'Temporary Power Erasure'.

Thought with Connor's that might be some sort of fucking mistake, you know? That'd be like listing 'human' as one of my powers. But now that you have it too...if the both of you have what makes you who you are listed as a power...gonna have to be real fucking careful around the both of you.

[Because if there's something Hank Anderson doesn't want to do it's harm either of them. Especially not like that.]

[It's just a typical observation coming from someone who is good at observing. Then again, Hank hadn't really gone hunting for android models until he'd been given the cases. It's not like Connor even told him in the tower that him and Markus were technically related.]

If you're concerned for Connor, I've already offered him a transfusion should his thirium levels fall too low. He'll be all right until he and Danger synthesize a substitute.
