[ Video starts and there is one (1) Kaneki and one (1) Riptide looking back at you. Kaneki gently nods his head as a polite greeting and riptide raises a hand in a light wave.]

Hello everyone, we are making an official announcement that we are currently working to visit Death Island and build a memorial on site for the imPorts who have permanently died there. For those who aren’t familiar with the story, in 2008 a group of teenage imPorts went to the island in order to stop a man who built a Death Ray. I understand the naming is… [ IT’S SOMETHING. ] but the Ray killed seven imPorts permanently. It has been ten years since then, and I think it’s important to remember those who were lost.

--Right, yeah, [riptide leans a little closer to the camera. it’s time to pay attention to him now!!] it’s got a weird name and the history sucks. So, anyway, we already have quite a bit of backing from ambassador Baal, Baelish and senator Hundred. Er-- [he looks down. at his hand, where he’s written this information like a normal person.] --The Airforce, some other native institutions. They sure love their advertising. I’m sure you see where this is going.

The only people left to ask are… [he points dramatically at the camera.] you. Is you? Grammar. You. Give us money for this. Also, yourselves. Please.

[ oh god, no - Kaneki moves in, shoving Riptide away as he tries to salvage this ] He-- isn’t wrong. We need funding to build the memorial, but we also need signatures to show imPorts support this idea. We are also gathering them from natives, who have been very receptive to this idea. [slightly off camera, riptide can be heard mumbling that’s what i said!. Kaneki will ignore him because what else can you do? ]

We want to ask you for your support on this, any kind you can give us. [ he bows gently to the camera ] Thank you so much.

Yeah, thanks-- and if you’re gonna bitch about how this ain’t our problem, I don’t wanna hear it! Put that attitude back in the toilet you fished it out of, idiot! [ and before the feed is cut off you can still hear Kaneki going “Riptide, No-” ]

They do. Sometimes. Some don't for some reason, though. I'm not sure what that says about them.

But yes, I can. I can make them blue and sparkling if you wanted. That's the one gift of my power. I do have a lot of creative control.

[weirdly, that makes him look extremely uncomfortable for a few moments. it passes, though.]

Uhh... yeah! Just one like that. Thanks. That's wild. What else can you do with them?

Mix colors, create designs, cause them to bear edible fruit. Of course, the more I do, the more it drains me of energy. But I feel like most powers are that way, right?

Though if we want something that will regrow year after year, it will have to be something less...mutated.

Yeah.

[god the exhaustion from using his natural form before was awful. he couldn't handle it all the time.]

Maybe just a basic blue one, then. I was thinking of making it look like a special type of flower from home but those are... sort of supernatural.

[they're not supernatural at all, but that's easier than saying they were made out of dead people.]

[ A shame! Raina would be fascinated to hear about these dead people flowers.... ]

If you could get me a description of what they look like, I could see what I can do to make a close approximation. Would you be able to draw it?

I can barely draw a stick man. They're basically just blue with four or five petals, long bits in the middle and a little glittery. The bits in the middle are white and so are the stalks.

Does that help?

It gives me an idea. Would you say the petals are more similar to a daisy? Or are they more folded in like a tulip?

They were flat. All of them were the same, and they were all flat. What's your idea?

[ She thinks for a moment, and then conjures up something like this -- only the center is a very shimmery, metallic blue. ]

Would it be something a bit like this?

[he claps, delighted.]

I'm glad! So you want these as a part of the memorial? Or do you want them for yourself? I certainly don't mind making up a personal bouquet.

Some flowers for the memorial would be great-- life endures despite, uh... death rays, y'know?

But [there it is] I'd, uh, like a couple of those just for me, if that's alright.

Of course it's all right. I can make them hardy, so they will last a while. And I could try to make them perennial -- so if we plant them at the site, they will grow again in a year. A sign that life endures, as you say.

[ Provided the soil could support such life. But they won't really know until they get there. Also Raina had never tried to introduce a non-native plant to an environment....so it could be a fun experiment!

...or a disaster. In the name of science. ]

[he looks away for a moment, quickly looking up what perennial means. as a non-organic alien, he certainly isn't thinking about how non-native stuff in the environment works... mostly because he has no idea how, but y'know. details.]

That'd be good. Uh-- different ones at the site would be good. [he chews his lip for a moment. ugh, he really doesn't want to actually tell her what they're about but he kinda should, huh?] These ones are, uh, they look like some special flowers from back home. They're for people I know that, ehh... aren't... around anymore.
