[ Adachi looks... annoyed, and that's entirely because of the fancy piece of paper he's holding in his hand. His face is scrunched up, and he's poking at the side of his head with the eraser end of a pencil. ]

'If there is one thing I ever say to you that you take heed of without any foolish attempts at wit, let it be this: so long as you deny the darkness within you, you shall never reach your true potential. I hope that one day you cease to limit yourself, and become what I have always known you to be.'

[ He let out an annoyed noise, before dropping the pencil and shifting, pulling a lighter from the pocket of his suit jacket. He doesn't smoke of course, but even after three years of being away from home, he still keeps one on him out of habit. Some things he picked up from Dojima never went away, and that included keeping a lighter on him from when his former partner kept forgetting his. ]

[ It's also handy for lighting up fancy paper with obnoxiously swirly writing on it. ]

Tip for the kids out there: don't take advice from a guy whose name translates to 'poison' in another language.

[ He'll hold onto the paper until it burns right to his fingers, letting that piece drop into the ash pile that's now on his desk, before swiping it into a trash bin. ]

I see that you were also graced with a letter from the Count.

[Grievous is clearly angry.]

Yeah; guessing you were too.

[And he holds up the letter he received so Adachi can read it:

This letter means that I am gone, perhaps for good. What will you do now, I wonder? Are you even capable of having a life for yourself that is not determined by hatred and vengeance? I doubt it. I only regret that I will not be present to see my expectations confirmed, or to witness the long empty void that lies in front of you. The hollowness of your resentment will consume you entirely, Grievous, and leave you with what you have truly always had: nothing.

[ Adachi needs to pull on his glasses to read the letter, his face scrunching up again. ]

Oof... that's not fair.

He believes I am nothing and have nothing without him. That he somehow gave me purpose with his tampering and manipulations. As if my life before him did not matter. I am better than that. I will prove his words wrong.

He's self absorbed. I don't have a complete idea what he's going back to, but it was clear to me it didn't end well for him and he proved he learned nothing from it.

[ He paused a moment, before letting out a frustrated breath. ]

...honestly, I just want to punch something after reading that.

[ Adachi paused at that, frowning slightly. ]

I mean...

I could throw my Persona at you for a little while?

[ Adachi laughed at that. ]

Just as long as you don't go after me, I'll be fine.

[ He'll just be sore later. ]

It has been quite the journey with you over these many months.

[His tone is more contemplative, watching Adachi.]

It's been good to see you chill out.

[ Adachi offered Grievous a lopsided smile, all but saying he trusted him. ]

It is perhaps unfortunate that Dooku remained stubbornly arrogant, thinking himself better than us all.

[Grievous is glad to have changed his mind about Adachi, after their antagonistic beginnings. He could not have foreseen it.]

Yeah; he could have been a decent guy if he just chilled out for five seconds.

[ But Dooku? Chill? That sounds fake. ]

He was a Jedi and a Sith. Either way, it is the wrong path and he took both. Both sides caused much destruction in the galaxy.

Look, I'm not even going to pretend I understand your world's religious followings. Either way, it just proves what I said before; Dooku didn't really learn from anything.

It is not a religion. It is a power... Much misused.

And yes, you are correct. He learnt nothing.

It is quieter in the late afternoon and evening. There is an area with some flat rocks overlooking the ocean. Meet me there.

[And he will make his way toward the appointed spot.]

[ The sun starts to set, and Adachi's at the place Grievous indicated, offering him a little wave as he approaches. ]

[The spot Grievous selected has large flat rocks buried up to their surface that make an alternative to the sand for people to sit or sun on. The sand itself and the main beach are next to it and within a few steps. Waves break from the ocean beyond, the tide higher. There are some people in the distance but none nearby. Grievous greets Adachi with a nod, in his cyborg form for this battle.]

[ Adachi jumped up to his feet after a moment, brushing himself off, before stretching his arms up, making a show of loosening himself up, like he was the one that was going to be fighting. ]

You ready for this?

[ Adachi let out a snort. ]

Yeah, no, I think I scared the hospital staff enough when I just waltzed in with my severed hand in my pocket.

[ He reached a hand out, summoning he arcana card. Izanagi-no-Yomi appeared before him once it was crushed, his blade stabbing into the ground as he motioned at Grievous in a, "Come get some," kind of way. ]

[They'd never fought out of enmity, even if it had turned such during what should have been 'training'under Constellation. This time, even less so - Adachi being somebody Grievous would call a friend, and he had very few. So in a way, it was easier to not hold back and purely fight when faced with something that seemed apart from Adachi. Out the lightsaber came, twirled once then with a warrior's growling cry he launched forward.]

[ A wide, almost delighted grin broke out on Adachi's face as Izanagi-no-Yomi shot forward, lashing out at Grievous in response. The blades met each other, the Persona's blade holding well enough against the lightsaber. ]

[Vaguely, Grievous wished he had more than one saber but alas that was beyond his control here so he had to make do with just the one - and his own metal body which was a weapon in itself. He made a grab with a large clawed hand toward his opponent, hoping to grip anything in reach - an arm; a face. Something to crush or grab and slam down.]

[ Adachi let out a yelp as the Persona's mask was grabbed, and the creature jerked away, forcing Grievous' claws to rip over it. Part of it fell away, revealing what seemed like pale human skin around a glowing yellow eye, before Izanagi-no-Yomi lashed out, ramming the butt of his massive blade toward what passed for Grievous' gut. ]

So, Dooku believed you have some deep inner darkness? A great untapped, burgeoning potential for villainy?

How interesting. Why do you suppose he thought that?

[ Oh great; he probably should have known this would draw out all the weirdos. He really needed to reconsider his poor life choices. ]

I've been transparent about the fact that I murdered people back home.

Ah, I see. That makes more sense, then.

Yeah, because some people have trouble processing the fact that other people actually want to change.

Well, considering I'm in jail back home for my crimes, yeah. Yeah I would be.

[ Adachi frowned. ]

Sort... of? I was caught anyway; being an ass about it was pretty pointless.

Were you in prison for a long time?

A few months, I think. Less time then I probably should have, to be fair, but I ended up here.

He won't, unless we listen to him. [ kaneki won't because he literally told kaneki to eat his enemies. or something like that. ]

Well, I never listened to him while he was here, so I'm not about to start now.

[ He did remember Kaneki did have a lot of faith in Dooku. He couldn't blame him, all things considered. ]
