[Eddie looks...just slightly worse for wear, though his version of 'worse for wear' isn't really all that bad, and mostly consists of a loosened tie, lack of blazer, and a half-inch of stubble instead of a quarter-inch. There's something a little bleary about his face, though, including a bit of red around the eyes, even though he's making a sort of tentative smile.]
So uh. Hey, everyone.
[The smile widens a little, but doesn't quite reach his eyes, even though he's obviously trying.]
I'm guessing it's pretty normal around here for a new arrival to be a little...confused...and I'm no exception. Did a little research though, so I'm starting to get my head around this whole thing. Mostly.
[A pause, and he licks his lips, eyes flicking away from the screen for a moment.]
So, I guess the only question I've got left is... [A shrug.] ...can anyone recommend some volunteer activities or anything? Being a bookstore clerk is seriously not going to keep me busy enough.

M's been here long enough not to assume that Eddie Eddie retained his memories, or is even the same version of the man that was here 2 years ago. He can hope, though....]
I've worked with Helping Hands, Open Hearts in Heropa for a while now. It does a lot of good for a lot of people.
Also Aid De Chima, No One Alone in Maurtia Falls, and Color House in Nonah.
video;
Wow, that's a lot of options.
[The smile widens a little, and he lifts a hand to rub at the back of his neck.]
Don't suppose you'd mind telling me what they're all for?

HHOH helps low-income families get the food, healthcare, and vocational training they need through various programs.
Aid De Chima provides localized disaster relief after the inevitable imPort or other natural disastr. In times of non-disaster they support local food banks.
No One Alone is a non-profit that helps homeless or abused youth, and is one of the bigger youth shelters in Maurtia Falls.
Color House is another non-profit that helps homeless or abused youth, with a specific focus on LGBTQ youth.

Oh, nice. I like the sound of Color House especially. I ran into a lot of kids like that before I made detective. I always wanted to do something to help, but a lot of them don't trust cops.
[A slightly crooked smile.]
Not that I blamed them.
no subject
I can't say I blame them either.
[He sends some information along.]
My contact at Color House. Tell them M sent you.
no subject
Yeah, well. I tried to be one of the good ones. Thanks for the referral.
[A pause.]
M, huh? Interesting name. I'm Eddie, by the way. Eddie Thawne.

[Oh right--]
Hang on.
[He quickly pulls something out of his pocket and holds it up to the camera. It's a business card.]
A pleasure to meet you, "Eddie by the way." [Sorry, he couldn't help himself.]

Whoa. Oh man, I never thought of fostering cats...I love cats.

Right. That's a good point.
[A pause, and he takes a little breath, pondering for a few moments whether he wants to ask. Finally, he does.]
We don't really have a say in whether we leave, do we?

No way to guarantee that you don't, then?

Mate, just get a new job. The hell's the point in volunteerin' when you can do the same shite for money?
video;
If I need more money, I'll look for a better job. Not a big deal. I like volunteering though. I like feeling like I'm doing something worthwhile.

Well, that's why I asked for recommendations. Gotta make sure I actually want to do something before I volunteer, right? It's not all noble.

I'd at least like to get to know you before I'm bringing you breakfast in bed.
[A pause, and his brows raise a bit.]
And a police detective might not be the best option for someone to ask about buying you kush.

After living here for almost two years, Iris instinctively knows that time wobbles and the Earth spins in mysterious ways. The Porter cares not who it drags along for the ride, let alone who gets caught in its fray. Others have met their worst enemies, or opposite soldiers on a battlefield. Why shouldn't she be just as vulnerable to them? Iris swallows, fighting back tears and trying not to gawk at the screen.
Two whole years, three if she counts that year back home, and like that, all of her memories come rushing back, like a broken dam unleashing an entire ocean.
What does Eddie remember? What were his last moments?
A network doesn't deserve their reunion conversation, so when she's ready, she switches the video feed on, careful to keep it private per Cisco's old encryption tools - ]

And then he remembers her face above him, twisted up with grief, tear tracks down her cheeks, while she told him he was her hero. It's a fresh wound, only a few days old, and it almost immediately dims the joy. But he's still smiling, he can still smile because there's still that bubble of love inside, buoying him up, warm in his chest.]
Hey, babe.
[The smile widens just slightly.]
You too.
[A pause, and the emotions he's having right now feel like they're too big, too complicated for words. He can't express them, he's never been all that great with words, not when he hasn't had time to think about them first. All of it feels like it's caught in his throat, and the smile fades a little while he swallows it.]
I'm sorry.

[ The apology throws her off-guard. Every time she replays that memory, she's never found Eddie at fault for anything - not now, not then, not ever. She pauses, her brow furrowing as she tries to find something (anything) that he could be talking about.
She comes up blank. Nothing. A big, fat giant pile of nothing. ]
No, don't be. [ she rubs the tears away, still managing a smile - ] You've got nothing to apologize for, okay?
