[Hello Network, it’s Chauncy!! He’s at his desk at his office, the Anderson & Klein law firm. He’s fiddling with a pen between both hands, weighing it and then tapping the end against the paperwork on his desk.]

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

[He sighs as he looks off to the side, out the window, and then back to the video feed.]

David Klein is gone, but that doesn’t change that I still have a mortgage and bills. I’m looking to take on more clients. If you were a client of David’s, I’ll be taking on your legal representation as well, unless you’d like to cancel the contract. I won’t be charging a termination fee, given that this isn’t something that could have been prevented, but you will need to stop by the office to sign some papers. Won’t take more than a few minutes.

[He puts the pen aside, realizing he’s been playing with it too much, and winds up folding his hands, one over the other. He still finds himself rubbing his engagement ring with his thumb.]

I also…

[Another deep sigh, he closes his eyes, and then reopens them.]

Actually, nevermind.

That’s all. Thank you.

My condolences, Mr. Anderson. It is difficult to lose someone dear to you...

[ His eyes flicker toward the ring on Chauncy's hand. A ring he assumes is significant. Symbolic of a relationship. Perhaps an engagement? And lord knows Baelish had just lost his fiancee to porting out months ago. But he doesn't overstep and ask too many questions, sure Chauncy likely doesn't want to answer them. At least not over the network. ]

So is there anything I need to do to switch to your legal counsel?

In the meantime, is there anything I can do for you? To help ease your transition to being a solo practitioner, so to speak. Or otherwise.
baetiful: ([ 30 ])

I'm afraid I do not know any within the imPort community who have not already ported out. But if you do opt for nonpowered lawyers to join your team, I am certain you would find many who would be thrilled to work alongside you.

[ A pause. ]

....and just as many who would prefer to see you dead if you are hiring within Maurtia Falls, I suppose. But I trust you to be a good judge of character.

Ah, shite mate. I'm real sorry to hear it.

[Cass looks genuine in his sympathies, with that eyebrow crease and light pout.]

I don't give a shite about your firm, you moron.

Oi, cheeky sod.

[He's not wrong though. Workplace loyalty has never been a thing for Cass, but people loyalty sure as hell is.]

Y'need a whiskey or anything? Maybe a sneaky sniffer?
crassidy: (32)

[personal profile] crassidy 2019-02-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
For you, mate? Always. You want some? [Beat.] Whiskey, obviously, not anythin' illegal.

[YEAH RIGHT.]

[personal profile] crassidy 2019-02-17 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the spirit! Y'can fix everything with a few good sniffs, a bottle or two of whiskey and some fine company. I mean, I can't provide you with fine company, I'll be honest with yeh, but I can provide something resembling company.

Shit.

Do you need company? [He's been down this road before, it hurts to care for someone only for them to port out.] If you need any help, I can stop by.
cigarbribery: (take note: it's not impressive)

All right. Just—let me know, okay? ImPort lawyers gotta look out for each other.

[There's a moment's silence. Then Foggy sighs.]

I've only told a few people about this, but I can—sort of sense when people are lying to me? At least I get a headache when it happens. [He winces.] It's invasive as hell so I generally just ignore it, but sometimes it helps in questioning.

Why'd you ask, anyway? [You're not getting away that easy Chauncy.]

[Foggy’s lie detector doesn’t really ping, but he props his chin up on his hand anyway.]

What set it off, then?
cigarbribery: that (stay thirsty like before; don't you know)

Everything about this situation’s strange, Chauncy, that’s just the cherry on top of a sundae of weird. [A soft breath, then Foggy drums his fingers on his desk.] Yeah, it is. It’s like the Porter might not be able to pick who gets pulled in or pushed out, but it does have some control over the powers. Explains a lot of the really ironic ones, anyway.

That is, if somebody didn’t already come in with them.
cigarbribery: be (and it's our time now if you want it to)

[personal profile] cigarbribery 2019-02-28 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess? I don’t know a lot of people who had powers to keep from back home, but yeah, that seems plausible. Could you imagine somebody who could already fly coming in and getting to teleport? [A quiet chuckle.] That would just suck so bad for the rest of us poor schmucks.

at least his identity's out of the bag now. he won't be able to creep around like he used to so that's something. but i guess if we want to actually stop him we'll have to take matters into our own hands.

[translation: beat the shit out of him. again. not that she's going to come out and say that right now...]

but if you could get his money taken away... what would you have to do to make that happen? could you make that happen?
