So I watched this thing online. It was about a button. If you pressed the button, you would immediately get a million yen (which is like, around 10,000 US dollars, if you dunno how yen works), but the second you pressed the button, your mind. Like...your consciousness would be teleported into this like. Alternate dimension thing. You can't sleep and you can't die and you can't leave and you have to spend 500 million years there. And then when the 500 million years is up, you go back into your body and you forget everything that just happened. So like. You would think you just pressed the button and immediately got the money.

Anyway, I watched it and I started thinking and my head wound up on "What if that's how the Porters work. What if we're spending millions and millions of years between dimensions and we just forget it when we get to where we're going."

And now I can't stop thinking about that. And it's freaking me out, just a little bit.

At least we'd get millions and millions of years? Those online things are meant to freak people out. Maybe you need to distract yourself from thinking about it.

Cuddle a cute animal. Go for a walk. Sing one of those songs that gets stuck in your head. Cook a few meals and freeze them so you don't have to cook later. Anything. Do you have a hobby?

You could go skateboarding. Or read up on baseball stats. Or go to one of those places with the pitching machines. Or see if there's anyone else around here that knows about Duel Monsters.

I've been home once already, and it was only a year and a half, not a million and a half.
heliophilic: M- (This was my fault. It's not on you.)

We could also get hit by a series of cars tomorrow too. It doesn't mean that it'll happen.

Because the odds of my getting mowed down are astronomically low.

[And he's quite confident in that assessment too, what with the implants in his head that are really good at determining odds.]

Okay, but the real question here is, would you press the button?

But seriously, I wouldn't get too worked up about it. If you don't remember it, and there is no time or signs that you lived it, do those millions of years even matter?
