[ The thing about Selina is she's not an openly emotional person. Not normally, at least. She's a bottle in your feelings, take out your aggression in a fight kind of girl, and that's worked out well for her.
Well, as far as unhealthy coping mechanisms go.
So. What happens when a particularly wound-up cat stumbles across a couple shiny red rocks? Nothing good. I mean, all those therapists they made her see as a kid who'd get on her case about opening up and using her words to express herself would consider this progress, or something, but in a couple of hours she's going to hate this. ]
I can handle the weird. The thing about cats is we're good at landing on our feet, so while things certainly haven't exactly been smooth and it all seem to be getting weirder by the day, I think I've been handling it quite well. I've settled in. It's not home, but I've started to make this place my home.
[ There's a sigh, a long pause. She's drinking, too, which is probably a bad idea. How does red Kryptonite mix with a nice cabernet? Let's find out. ]
It's dealing with people -- people from home or not quite home, people who are familiar but not the people I know. Older. Different. Nothing syncs up right and somehow everyone around you has the advantage of time and the knowledge that comes with it. Somehow it feels a little like you're being blamed for something you didn't do, and it's so stupid...
Ugh. Fuck this place.

So, how exactly are you a cat? Is that a side effect whatever they did to you when you arrived, or is that au naturel?

[ Unrepentant thief, and all that. Not a very good person. That's not whiny, Selina is who she is and she doesn't really give a fuck, but the only way she could be worse is if she became a cold-blooded killer and that version of her would have to be drastically different. It's hard for her to imagine. ]

At least the people that know you are here. If I could bring people from home...
[ He's not sure whether he would, but he might. It would save them from Achilles, for a little while. ]

Interesting accent, that's-- German? Austrian?

[ On the subject of his accent Rupert's smile turns wistful, unseen on his end of the audio feed. ]
In this world? German. There's a mysterious range of mountains where my home country should be. All rather unfortunate but such is the danger of foreign universes, I suppose. You can't expect things to stay the same.

It can certainly be frustrating, I agree. It's also very confusing with just how many timelines and worlds there are.
TEXT ▸
TOO MANY. And that's scary, too, really. The idea of all these timelines and worlds. Some that you exist in, some that you don't. Some in which you live an entirely different life or look completely unrecognizable.

Except she's touched that red kryptonite, too, and it's done the exact opposite; she's not full of helpless rage or bitter fear. There's nothing guarded in her expression, or sharp in her voice.]
It can be overwhelming, but I'm pretty sure you've handled worse. [Whether their time lines entirely match up or not.]
Or "will". And, for the record, I'm willing to tell you anything you want to know about that. [Usually, there would be caveats here. There would be some kind of bargain.
Right now, Selina herself is the priority.]
VIDEO / PERMA-PRIVATE ▹
And there is definitely something different about Freckles and her demeanor, but it's not a detail Selina's lingering on. She takes a moment to fiddle with the settings -- because she has that much good sense left, at least -- and consider her options here. ]
It's not like I'm going to remember any of it when I go home, no way of working that to my advantage. I'm less interested in me and more in everyone else here from back home, and if anyone besides him and the ol' Red, White, and Blue has compiled their facts, I'd have to imagine it's you.
Re: VIDEO / PERMA-PRIVATE ▹
I've been trying to find ways around that, but no luck so far. For now, though, this world is what matters, and you could avoid any similar pitfalls if they show up.
As for the rest of us, Batgirl, Batman - the younger one - and I are from the same timeline, or at least one that's very similar, so that's the one I know most about. I'm still trying to figure out if yours is closer to ours or Bruce and Jason's.
